Disney Dream Cruisers November 27, 2011

Today, I am going to get supplies to make an FE. I have some awesome ideas, but I just don't know how they will shape up. Wish me luck, everyone.

Hi all! Got my fish extender today and just had to share - I love how it turned out! :thumbsup2 Though I must admit that I'm a little concerned - I thought it would be bigger for some reason. One of my FE gifts is quite a bit bigger than the FE itself so I'm going to need to devise a way to get it into everyone's FE without bending it. :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 Looking forward to filling it for you!

Thanks much. I went a little overboard on the supplies for my home made FE. There were a great many scrapbooking supplies that fit the bill. Plus all the other stuff for the idea rolling around in my head. I will try to get pics up as it progresses. Over $100 in materials so far. Yeah, excessive, I know. However, the idea I have, I think, is pretty cool. And I had to have parts for a backup plan, in case my brain exceeded the talent in my hands. If I do this right, it will be awesome!

Hello all, I just stumbled across this thread! We too are cruising on the Nov 27 Dream! It's my third cruise, my husband's second, and our kids first. It's all of our first Disney cruise. My son is 6, and my daughter's 4th birthday is on Nov 27! Also, my 37th birthday is Nov 30! We are doing the Blackbeard's Cay excursion, and I booked a facial at the spa. We are soooo excited! :yay:

Welcome aboard! You are going to love DCL! :)
I think your kids are actually the perfect age to fully enjoy the onboard fun! Our kids 1st cruise was about the same ages and they still talk about it.
If you feel comfortable enough to leave them in the kids clubs, I highly recommend you and your hubby spend a night in Palo or just take in one of the night shows at one of the clubs, they are a blast! My DW and I don't drink, but we still had a blast at the couple's "dating game" type gameshow

So glad to have finally found this thread!! Bitter - When I first booked this cruise back in March of this year we were a family of 7, Mom, Dad, sis, niece(8)/nephew(10), hubby and myself. Since then my father passed in July so now here we are. This will be our first family vacaction without daddy but we know he would want us to go and enjoy this cruise to the fullest. Sweet - We always travel together and have taken several cruises but this will be our first Disney! The kids are excited and even with all that has happened this year I am to. Hope my post doesnt bring anyones spirits down because I need pointers. I want to make this trip so special in memory of my dad. He and my mother were married 43yrs. I know this isnt the cure but I want it to be the medicine to ease the pain. So this is were I need you guys help...suggestions please!!! Thanks in advace!:grouphug:

We'll need to know where you are on the ship if you want to play FE with everyone. I know it's a bit short on time, so I can understand if it's a big challenge or overwhelming. Should be an awesome trip for you guys. Make sure you let them know it's your birthday(s). It's pretty cool.

Not sure what suggestions to offer here. I lost my Mom in May, and the last cruise we took was for her 60th birthday in 2009. This one may very well hit me hard, I just don't know. What I do know is that it will be a good cruise, and reading through these boards will give you any and all information you may ever want to know about the trip. These folks are very wise.

Thanks kmcdougan for your response. I will continue to read through the boards. One thing I couldnt find were hotel suggestions. Being new to the DCL world I have found it to be VERY different and exciting on a greater level.

We are at Comfort Inn & Suites - park & cruise package. I think it was $120, but it includes parking for the duration of the cruise. Not sure what your plans are for the whole thing, however, there are about as many solutions to your question as there are people going on the ship. In our past experience, we found it more cost effective to get the room in the area with a hotel that allowed parking for the cruise and a shuttle to the port. This allowed us to get the earliest arrival time at the port so we could complete checkin and chill out in the terminal until we could board. For me, that is some peace of mind. However, there are folks who stay at the parks and drive, use the DCL bus, or hire a car for the trip. There are folks who fly in the morning of the cruise and do the DCL bus or other transport to the port. THe best suggestion is to figure out what will work best for your entire party, then set up the plans for it. That seems to be the recurring theme of the posts I have seen on the issue in the past.

Has the deadline passed for the FE exchange? We are thhiiiisssss close to booking this cruise 'last minute'. So much fun, we have never been on the Dream. Still not 100% but could totally get talked into it :cool1:

We won't participate in the FE.
We are in Room 6098 - anyone near us?
Anyone else worried about the weather? I sure hope it's not chilly!

Thank you so much! We are definitely going to leave the kids in the clubs and have some time on our own - thanks for the tip about the "dating game" - that sounds like fun!

Never underestimate the power of pixis dust distributed by the DIS folks.

We are in 5186. Same side of the ship, just a deck lower and all the way at the back.

Happy cruising!

We are in 6508... at the front right corner of floor 6...

:)

As far as weather, nope no worries. Worrying won't change thing & weather won't make us not want to go

All Booked and ready to go!!! Never booked a cruise this last-minute before, and it is our first time on the Dream. 6th Disney cruise but first on the new ship we have been waiting and looking for an opportunity to get on the Dream and finally (i know, after waiting a whole 11 months) got the chance. Excited to see the differences between the Wonder and Magic and the Dream. Will probably be a little chilly for us Florida natives, but it's going to be so much fun.

A little sad we missed the FE deadline our kids loved it last time, our last cruise had the deadline about 3 weeks out but can totally understand why this one was early. It was a lot to get all of that together last time and don't know if we could even pull it off with this short notice. Also last time had the experience of people adding at the last minute after we'd already bought/made everything so I don't want to be the one adding frustration to peoples cruise plans!!!

Excited, hope to get to know some of you. Is there a Facebook group for this cruise? Our cruise in April had a group and it was so fun to get to 'know' everyone before we sailed.

Running on adrenaline this morning after a late night figuring out booking and online checkin stuff!:cool1:
