Disney Dream Cruise Fish Extender Activity August 10-14, 2015

HEY EVERYBODY!
What a fantastic, energetic (and helpful) group! I love it! OK, it sounds like we have a couple more families so let's bring them into the mix and then close our group because we have quite a few families now. (Oh, I'm Alyson by the way!)

To catch you all up, this is our first cruise but very frequent visitors to WDW. And the only reason I am facilitating the fish extender game for August 10-14 is because there was no link at the time I was looking for one...so I just started it up! While I am happy to facilitate and organize the information...I love how everyone is getting involved! This is YOUR game!

As Stephen said, in a day or so I will send another message with all of the information needed so you can put together your goodies for the families. One thing to remember -- this is all about fun. There is no minimum dollar amount (and I suppose no maximum amount but let's be realistic and remember this is just about small surprises!:earsboy: -- and let's keep in mind that we'll all have to find space in our luggage for all of the goodies!)

So, welcome aboard! This is going to be a lot of fun!

Alyson

Should we all schedule a meet up sometime on the ship? Like a bar?

I vote for embarkation day either before - or probably better - after the muster drill. Then you have the rest of the cruise to be flexible, as well as say "Hi!" if/when you see someone again.

I think some of the lounges are good for this like (all of them are on Deck 4 aft)
- Evolution (largest lounge)
- D Lounge (also large and usually used for family games/activities)
- The District

Another bonus is pretty much everyone is on Deck 4 for the muster drill anyway, and when it's over the stairs and elevators are packed. Why not head to a lounge and meet the group?

Hey Stephen -- excellent idea! I will add a note in with my lengthier note to our families about the game. I love the D Lounge so what time should we schedule our meet? 5 p.m.? 5:15? I'll bring a name tag with me so people can locate me right away and we'll look for others. How fun! (I personally can't wait to visit the Skyline Bar -- that looks really cool!)

Ok, Dreamer friends...keep the comments coming. Our Fish Extender Game has officially closed...so now let's keep sharing tips, ideas, comments and things we hope to do on VACATION! Yay!

Have a Disney Day!

Alyson

I love the D Lounge so what time should we schedule our meet? 5 p.m.? 5:15?

The muster drill is at 4:00pm and usually lasts like 15 - 20 minutes (but feels like forever!!). I say we head to the D Lounge after that. So like 4:15 to 4:30ish. Again, it's hard to get back to your cabin and pool deck right after, so why not hang out while the traffic dissipates? :)

Let's do it! I will plan for 4:30 p.m. with my name tag slapped on! :daisy:I will communicate with everyone soon. Thanks so much! Alyson

Hello everyone!
Are we ready to have an incredibly fun vacation? I have made a list below of cabin room numbers, names and ages of everyone participating in the 'Fish :fish:Extender Activity' for the Disney Dream sailing August 10 - 14! The game is now closed for additional members so we can concentrate on creating surprises and fun gifts for our participants. A couple things to remember over the next few weeks:
1. Above all...have fun with this! So far we all have enjoyed commenting on this thread and learning some tips about the Dream, cruising, and the excursions so please feel free to continue to comment and share. I feel like I know many of you already! :)

2. The Fish Extender will actually hang from the metal fish located on your door/on the side of your door. You can't miss it. If you Google 'Disney cruise cabin doors' you will see them (I didn't want to take up space with the links but you can easily find them!) You may also use sites like Etsy or Pinterest to get ideas of how to create your Fish Extender or even purchase one!

3. The gifts/surprises need not be homemade but they don't need to be purchased either! You can create gifts for each person or a family. Again, there are a lot of ideas on sites like Etsy or Pinterest, but I have seen many cute Disney related items at discount stores, too! And, you can include your name as the gift giver or remain anonymous! We have a good size group so don't feel like you need to give multiple gifts -- there will be plenty of treasures to go around! Just keep in mind that we all need to take home whatever gifts we receive and luggage space is a premium!
4. We have small children playing and big kids playing -- which is going to make our Fish :fish:Extender Activity so much fun!

5. Let's officially begin our game on Day Two -- Tuesday, August 11 -- so everyone can unpack on Day One, find their Extender and get it hung up! Please hang your Extender on the evening of Day One for any early risers on Day Two!

6. It sounds like some of us are going to meet up on Day One, after the muster drill, at 4:30 p.m. in the D Lounge on Deck 4 (the muster drill is on Deck 4 anyway!) I will bring a name tag so everyone can look for me (I am short with dark hair) and we'll just gather our group for a drink, a toast, a picture...whatever! Speaking of our group...we need a name! Ok, so we may not need a name but I think it would be great if we had one (some other groups have names.) So...throw out some ideas! The Dream Wavers (instead of Dream Weavers...like I have said before, I am NOT creative :)!) as an example...but let's hear from the group. Once a few people chime in we can select our name!

7. I am going to hang a dry erase board on our cabin door (#9010) so if you need anything or forgot the room numbers, just scribble me a note and I will get them to you!

Here are our families! There are ten cabins in all. I have indicated whether someone is a Disney mom, dad, son, daughter, grandchild or girlfriend...but if there was no indication I inserted Disney 'friend'!

Hi All,

I thought I would also include a breakdown by age/gender. If you're doing FE gifts by age and gender maybe this will help! You may also choose a different breakdown or wish to combine some. Keep in mind this is the total count so you would subtract your party - unless you want to gift to yourself! (No judgment if you do :) )

12 Adult Females (20+)
8 Adult Males (20+)
1 Teen Female
3 Teen Males
0 Tween Females (10 to 13)
3 Tween Male (10 to 13)
4 Girls (under 10)
8 Boys (under 10)

(39 total)

OR
17 Total Females and
22 Total Males

OR
12 Ladies
8 Men
5 Girls
14 Boys

Let's have some FUN!! :earsboy:

Alyson

Sorry Alyson - Mom is also a Maria - makes it much easier - thank you for including us! So much fun. I will be printing this tomorrow and finishing up some gifts. Can't wait to meet you all. Have an awesome Disney evening!

I just learned about the FE program over the weekend. I know it is short notice, but I only have 2 children to add. They would be so sad to see this going on and they are not a part of. Could they join your group or do you know of another group? Tami

Hi Tami...just to be sure, are you traveling on the Disney Dream August 10 - 14, 2015? If so, unfortunately, our group's fish extender game has officially closed. We have been compiling information for months and I assured our group that once we closed our group, we would be closed. However, I don't mind surprising you and your children with treats. I won't commit any other members of our cruise because I cannot speak on their behalf but I would encourage our group members to reach out through this thread if they are able and willing to participate with you as well.

With that said, unless other members of our group (and you can see our group a few threads above this one in my lengthy note) respond favorably, you do not have to reciprocate with small gifts/surprises. My suggestion would be to print the list above and highlight anyone who responds favorably in the next few days. But please understand that many of us have been working on our treats for several weeks and may not be able to participate.

I assume you know how the game works? You create or buy a 'fish extender' for your metal fish outside of the cabin door and hang it in anticipation of treats throughout the cruise. I will gladly add you to my list and I will need the same information. Incidentally, I do not know of any other 'fish extender' group on our cruise.

CABIN #9010 (Alyson A)
Disney Mom - Alyson, 44
Disney Dad - Matthew, 37
Disney Son - Conor, 11

Please send me the same information for your family. AND...if you do find another group to join, please let me know. Any other questions -- just let me know? Thanks and have a wonderful time!

Alyson :earsgirl:

Hi there, I just wanted to introduce myself. We just booked last Thursday along with another family. This seems like a really fun group. I never heard of fe. Obviously too late to join plus no way I can get this together. Already, going crazy with details. If you guys have a meeting area, love to meet you all. We have a daughter, 9, son, 7. The other family has 2 boys, 9 and 6.

Joanna :)

I too just learned about this fun tradition and I am too late to join a group. We can exchange gifts. Let me know the cabin numbers of your family and the other family.

Cabin #10104 (Tami and Kenny A.) No need to do gifts for us!
Disney Son: Kenny age 13
Disney Daughter: Camas age 9 (peanut/tree nut allergy)

Hi Tami!

Thanks for sharing news about your family!

Ok, DREAMERS...Tami has shared her information. Like I said in the thread above, she and I know it is past the deadline and most of you have your gifts gathered but if you have the time and are able to put extra gifts together, please see above. The FE treats would only be for DS - Kenny, age 13 and DD - Camas, age 9 (please see that Camas has a peanut/tree allergy!) in Cabin # 10104. If you are able to include Camas and Kenny, please respond asap.

And Hi Joanna!
I am sure you guys are crazy busy! I am including information below about our meet-n-greet in the D Lounge! Our group is really friendly (and I suspect a lot of fun! :sunny:) You are right about the FE game...we have been organizing ours for months and it takes a lot of prep...but now you know about it for next time ;-)!

Taken from the thread above:
Hi Tami
I would love to include your children in our game! I have a 14 year old son coming and I know he would love to another boy in the same age range. I believe that there is a 12 year old boy in our FE group as well! :-)
I look forward to meeting you! I think it's going to be a great cruise!

Hi Alyson and Tami,

That's perfect, we will meet you all after the muster drill. This will be our kids first cruise, they'll be too overwhelmed so missing the FE won't hurt them (or maybe I'll have to play dumb). Tami, we are down the hall from you, 10000 and 10002. Looking foward to meeting you all.

Thanks for the information, Joanna! (You don't have to play along -- it is time intensive at this point -- but I will bring some extra treats to leave outside of your doors for the kids--I have some extra goodies from the things I put together! And we are only a deck below! Please don't get us anything, though -- we'll have enough! I want to include the children!)

Alyson :earsgirl:

Alyson,
You're too kind. My friend just texted me on why we didn't know this FE sooner. Definitely next time we'll join a FE group. We just want our kids to meet other kids..... and us too.
