Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Hi All,
I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day!! We had one of my DD's BFF's with us all weekend (her parents went out of town) so we managed to keep pretty busy the last 3 days, LOL. I did finish all of my door magnets and they are hanging out of my refridgerater for now. My DS was quick to point out that one of them had one of the smaller ships on it even though the magnet was for the Dream (opps, I had that one made before there were a lot of pictures of the Dream, LOL). It figures he would notice :rotfl2:

We spent Saturday at Disneyland (and California Adventure) and then took the kids down to San Pedro on Sunday evening to watch the Wonder as it headed out for the MR :thumbsup2 Of course that just made me wish it was April even more, LOL. Although it was easier to watch knowing that we will be back on a Disney ship very soon :)

kikids- you'll have to come out and cache with us on CC. I think it is a bit of a walk from the main beach area, but should be a fun activity!

jetskigrl- Sounds like you had a busy weekend, DS keeps begging us to let him have sleepovers, but right now his top bunk is full of his collection of stuffed animals, so until some of them find new homes no sleepovers!:rotfl:

Glad the weather is finally nice enough to get out in!

We spent the day Geocaching... Anyone else cache, and planning on doing the one on Castaway Cay?

I didn't know there is a cache on Castaway! How fun! We might just need to do that. Question though. We now geocache with our iphones. Do you think we can do this on Castaway. I am almost scared to even turn mine on with the talk about internet fees with smart phones. I would put it on airplane mode, but I think that would turn off the gps. Anyone know?

I am hoping we can grab a travel bug before we leave and place him there!

Hi Everyone...Happy Friday!!!!

Any big plans for the weekend? We are expecting a pretty big storm here today (thru tomorrow) but somehow it never is as bad in our area and the newcasters lead us to believe.

Question for you all....have any of your done the Dolphin Swim (Blue Lagoon - Nassau)? I originally had the Dolphin Encounter booked but after reading a bunch of reviews yesterday, I decided to change it to the Swim instead. Of course my hands were shaking as I was doing it because it of the price, LOL.
I just figured that if we were going to invest that much time in Nassau getting off the ship for the excursion, we may as well get the most out of the experience (I had read others were dissappointed with the small amount of time spent with the dolphins on the Encounter).

So now our schedule is to do the Mango Rum Run on our first trip to Nassau, the Stingray Encounter at CC and then the Dolphin Swim on our second trip to Nassau.

What is everyone else doing for their excursions?

Sounds like a good plan to me. We have decided to do no excursions on the 4 night. On the 3 night we will do the sting ray encounter in Nassau. We were going to do the dolphins or Atlantis, but decided not to spend the money. Our youngest is only 5 and he doesn't like new things. So him and one of us might not even get into the water. Decided that not getting into the water for the sting rays is a lot better than not getting into the water for the expensive dolphins. I am sure you will have a great time with the dolphins.

On the first cruise we're only doing the mango rum run and maybe some shopping later. On the second cruise the boys are doing the Seaworld submarine.

Hello Everyone!

Yes, baseball has taken over our lives and we haven't even had a game yet for our Spring Season! :upsidedow The short of it...we quit our baseball academy last week over irreconcilable differences (My husband was the head coach of one of two 10U teams)...7 out of 9 players came with us. (And as an FYI...having two teams of the same age group in the same sport at the same academy...does not work.) :upsidedow We started the process of forming our own travel team. The best part is that we have many parents helping do all sorts of things. So within one week...we have a full spring schedule...uniforms being ordered on Monday...free practice location...fund-raiser scheduled...non profit status started...tax and money stuff rolling...and plenty of drinking going on!!! :rolleyes1

The up-side to all of this...is that our group of players...are really, really good. :thumbsup2 So much so, that some teams would not schedule games with us. So it should be a good season...rocky start...but hey...it can't get any worse...well maybe it can??? :confused3

I haven't even thought about our cruise this week. Although last week I did get a creative idea for our FE gifts...decided that I had some extra time to put things together...ordered the parts...and added one more gift to our list! But it's a secret! :rolleyes1

jetskigrl - Have you checked out cruisecritic.com for the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim? I know that on the Bahamas board...there is a bunch of info. about it.

We only have the Mango Rum Run on Nassau Day, and the Stingray Encounter on CC Day. We can't wait for this cruise! We really need a vacation! :goodvibes

I hope that everyone is doing well! Happy Saturday to All!

Wow... 41 days left until we're aboard the Dream! Time is moving... just not fast enough! We've still got a lot to do, including (I'm ashamed to say) the majority of our Fish Extender gifts. We just haven't had the time to get everything together for this trip. But with only 37 days left until we begin our drive... we've got to focus!

On the bright side, we FINALLY got our cabin assignment (for now). We're in Stateroom #9500. I'm excited to be that far towards the front of the ship (not exactly sure why, though). I was HOPING for an upgrade to a verandah but I'm perfectly happy with what we paid for!

Also, called up today and spoke to a wonderful CM named Friday. I inquired about our OBC of $50 for using the Disney Visa to pay for our cruise in full and she said they would verify the card and then post the credit to our stateroom. (More drinking money for us!)

While I had her on the phone, I questioned about the dining rotation. After someone posted here that Palo reservations had opened, I managed to snag a dinner seating for the 2nd night (our anniversary). We wanted to make sure that we didn't miss Animator's Pallette so I spoke to the CM and asked her about it. She said that she would put in a request for the rotation to be AP - EG - RP - RP. Of course, it wasn't guaranteed... but just the fact that the request was placed makes me happy.

So, here we are... we've had some warmer weather recently (including a few 60+ degree days). A lot of the snow has melted (enough so that I can take down some of my Christmas decorations, finally). Golf season is around the corner (playing a tournament 3 days before we leave) and the trip follows that.

Now it's a matter of making it through the next 5 weeks at work without going insane!

Enjoy the week, everybody!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question, what is the width of FE? I really need to get working on ours. I looked at some on ebay but I figured I could whip something up. Finally bought some things this weekend for the kids for the FE and got a good idea for some other things!

Got to spend last weekend in Florida for a short little get away. Walking on the beach got me even more excited about CC!!!

As far as Nassau goes, I think we are just going to hop off the boat for a quick look around and the head back to the boat to spend the day there.

Also bought my photo matt to get signed on board. I love planning for a trip!

Happy President's Day!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question, what is the width of FE? I really need to get working on ours. ~Carla:hippie:

Hi Carla. The fish extenders made by those sewing goddesses on ebay are approximately 7.5-8 inches wide. I had my mother make mine and she made it 12 inches wide. I was worried that it would be too wide but it fit fine on the Wonder/Magic. Looking at the pictures and deck plan, the rooms on the Dream look a little closer together so once again I am questioning whether I'll be up against someone else's door with the 12 inch width. But, I've decided I'm going to give it a try and hopefully we'll have nice neighbors!! If you are making one from scratch I'd stick with the 8 inches.

Hey CY - did you read the stateroom report for your room? Someone gave it an excellent write up. :thumbsup2 I've updated the FE list to reflect your cabin.

No, I actually didn't even know that they had one up for our stateroom! I couldn't find one... can you direct me to it, please?

Thanks for updating the FE list!

Hello Everyone!

My family and I are so excited to sail the Dream in about 5 wks!! My name is Heidi, my husband's name is Matt and we are a Disney Lovin family! (I'm the REAL Mousejunkie though) We have 3kids, our oldest Katelyn, our son Alex in the middle, and our youngest is Madeleine.

I am excited to meet other families who share in a love for Disney Travel! Our first cruise was in 08 on the Wonder, this cruise is our second and I'm still learning! Today while on FB, I saw posts about "Fish Extenders." During our 08 - 3 night cruise on Wonder, I didn't see any FE's. I'm going to take a crack at making one for our family...wish me luck!! How many pockets should we have? This may also be a silly question but "the hook" is already in place right?

We would really enjoy meeting this group! How many families/people make up the group?

We will have the first show seating and the second dinner seating. We are on Deck 6.

I look forward to posting and hopefully making new friends!

Welcome 54disneyfun! There are many Michigan families on this cruise. Check out the very first post on this thread and you can see that Crystal has a lot of info.

You are just in time to get in on the Fish Extenders as the list is closing this week so people have enough time to prepare their goodies. You will see many samples on the disboards or you can look at the ones on ebay for ideas. Currently we have about 20 cabins participating. Regarding pockets: you might want a pocket for each person, you can just have one for the whole family, you can have one pocket for the grown ups and the kids each get their own....anything goes. (Yes, the hook is already there.) My in laws are just using a canvas bag from Michaels that I decorated. So it doesn't have to be complicated.

Once you have 10 posts you can send a PM (private message) but I did see your post on my visitor message wall. I will send you a private message later today with my email and we can get you set up for the FE that way.

BTW you asked about DD, DS. They are dear (or darling) daugther and son. Also DH for husband.

I'm sure you will have a lot of fun reading these disboards and researching info on cruises, parks and everything else Disney. Be careful - they suck you in! I always intead to sit down for 5 minutes and I end up reading posts for an hour! :rotfl2:

:welcome: 54disneyfun! :welcome:

It looks like Cindy has given you the run-down on what's happening on our sailing. I will add you all to the first posting list, and Cindy will take care of the FE stuff. We have a great group of DISers here...some of us have been chatting together since November of 2009! :rolleyes1 If you get a chance read back through some of the postings...It will give you an idea of what's happening with our sailing group.

pirate: Again, welcome to our crew! pirate:

pirate: Hey Cindy - Did we set an exact cut-off date for the FE exchange? If so, let me know what it is, and I will post it real big on the first posting.

pirate: Hey CY - I know what you mean about the Disney VISA card $50 OBC...We booked so far out...that the offer hadn't been extended that far. I guess I need to check on it...but I would presume that it would be applied automatically...or maybe I shouldn't presume...maybe I'll contact our TA...:upsidedow

pirate: Carla - You got to go to Florida? And walk on a beach...in warm weather!!! Boy, am I jealous! How many weeks do we have left??? popcorn::

pirate: I hope that everyone is having a great week! :dance3:
