Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Crystal, my DH is not involved either, in fact he said something like "are you going to sign up for some swap or bag trade for the cruise too?" LOL, I am always doing the PIF bags or the swaps on the Dis and he just kind of rolls his eyes. I haven't told him about the FE yet, but I am sure he'll be more worried about it fitting in our luggage than anything else!

Yes - attempting to bring FE stuff and fit it into the luggage...can be a huge problem! :rolleyes1 I usually pack 1 suitcase for the FE stuff - we don't fly in so no worries with bag limits. This time...I am working on something that may not take up as much room...:goodvibes

I wanted to let everyone know that I added the FE information and DISign information to the 1st post of this thread. Hopefully new cruisers will be able to quickly locate the posts for those two items. If anything else needs to be added to that 1st post...just let me know! :cutie:

I hope everyone is having a great day! It's almost Friday!

So, when it comes to FEs, are most people here going to make the holders? I have seen a few on etsy and eBay that are cute, but a bit pricey. I was thinking of getting one that we could use later at home as a mail sorter or something, but looks like it would be close to $40.

Anyone make their's and if so, any pictures and instructions on how you did it?

We didn't make ours, but purchased a cheap pre-made one off of ebay from China. I looked for a sample of one, but they only have a pink one with chip and dale right now. Ours is blue with mickey mouse. I know that somewhere there is a thread about non-sewing a FE. :surfweb: I have also seen people use a cute tote bag for a FE. The tote bags are actually not a bad idea because the items go deeper into a pocket...therefore...less ability for someone to steal something. Most FEs the pockets are not that deep and things can easily walk away. We have never really had an issue with this...just something to think about. :goodvibes

Hey - I just found this one on Amazon...I hope the link works. http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Mickey-Mouse-Organizer-Decoration/dp/B002F8KL2W

This one is just like ours, however; a different color. Anyhow...it is way cheaper and it is the perfect size. I did add two mickey antennae to each end of the dowl rod, and I ironed on our names.

Here is a picture of my mom's (the pink one) and ours (the blue one.)

Hi everyone. Haven't been on in a while, but I think summer is over here. Rain, rain and more rain. My parents are also going on the cruise with us. I think we already signed up for the fish extender. Sign them up to. Bartley and Charlotte. They don't have a room number yet.
Last time we made our fish extender, so I will probably be making 2 of them this time. The girls had a great time with it last time.
Loving all of the updates on facebook on the Disney Dream.

Hi Disneytraceyl. I do not have you on the FE list yet. Not sure if the PM didn't come thru?? Please PM me your cabin number and adult names, as well as home email address to email the list. I can see the girls names & ages from your post, though if they will have a birthday before the cruise, plz give me their ages as of sailing date.

I hear you about the rain, we've had so much down here in the Detroit/Ann Arbor area. I'm not even sure I want to check the forecast for today! But I did get an hour sitting out on the back deck reading a book yesterday before clouds (and mosquitos) rolled in which was very nice! Today it's back to errands and laundry :laundy: and tomorrow it's back to work -- though I've told my DH I think one of us should fly down to Cape Canaveral and just get in line right now for the aquaduck! Wouldn't surprise me if we weren't first in line at this point either!! :rotfl:

Well, not much rain here, but it is HOT! It's been in the 90's the last few days with a heat index into the 100's!!!! Can't wait to take a dip in the Dream pool, or watch a movie under the stars.... ahhhhhh

OK, I thought I would run this by you guys before I bother the TA, LOL. Yesterday I received a packet from DCL with information about our April 7 cruise (luckily DH saw it before the kids did). But I never received the same packet for the April 3rd cruise, and we booked the April 3rd cruise first. Did anyone receive a packet for our cruise yet?
I just wondering why we received the one for the 2nd cruise, but not the for the 1st....hum... LOL.
TIA

I have only recievd my confirmation forms, no big packet. Are you sure both cruises aren't listed on the 1 packet? Otherwise I have no idea, but we haven't gottwn anything yet

Yeah, I checked that. The first page is a welcome page with the cruise date and description listed. Hum, interesting. I received a confirmation for our mini cruise in Jan. also, but not this same packet. But I booked that one directly through DCL. I thought maybe I didn't get a confirmation letter for the April 3rd cruise because I booked that one through a TA. But then this packet arrived yesterday for the April 7th cruise (which was also booked through the TA).

It was about a 5X7 envelope with a welcome page and the rest was a brouchure type document describing what to pack, etc. I haven't read the whole thing yet since I immediately hid it before the kids could see it, LOL.

I guess I will wait and see if another one shows up soon. Thanks :-)

Let me start by saying I have never posted anything ever. But I have been reading the disboards for about a month since I booked our cruise and I found this thread today and I am hooked. I can't believe I have been missing out for so long!

We are going on the Dream April 3rd. :cheer2: This will be our first cruise with the girls, my DH and I have cruised once before about 12 years ago. I am also from Michigan. We are on Deck 6, sad to see we missed out on the Deck 7 Party. I am concerned about both girls and motion sickness and was told lower and middle ship was better. They both wear motion bands even in the car.

I am interested in FE and I think we are staying on ship in Nassau although we might have to send DH for Mango Rum! We also thought about 2 seating for dinner, but have already switched back to first just because of girls and hoping they are not to tired to enjoy it all.

Did I include everything? Nice to meet you all! Can't wait!

My counter doesn't work!

We, too, are first timers and I am a bit worried about motion sickness, too! I am amazed at how many Michiganders there are on this cruise. It should be a LOT of FUN. :goodvibes

party: Welcome to the Party DontRushMe! party:

Glad you could join our crew! It seems that you have read through most of our posts, and are getting to know the ins and outs of Disney cruising...or at least the way the DIS does it! :disrocks:

You did good with your cabin...mid-ship and lower is best for motion prone people. My crew takes Dramamine one day prior to sailing all the way until 3 days after sailing. We are that affected by the motion...but the 24 hour, once a day Dramamine does the trick! And we are totally able to enjoy our cruise! :goodvibes

Be sure to sign-up for the FE exchange once you are able to PM (Private Message) people. I believe that is after 10 posts...I could be wrong...:confused3

Again, welcome aboard! pirate: Let us know if you have any questions...we might be able to answer them or at least get you in the right direction! :cutie:

Cruise Documents: We got our packet a long time ago, but we booked back in November of 09. I don't totally remember, but I think that there is really no rhyme as to how things are sent out from DCL. I know that that sounds terrible, but from our past...sometimes things are early...sometimes late. It could also depend on if you have a TA or booked directly with DCL. Lots of variables! Keep us posted...:surfweb:

Only one more day of school! ;) Truthfully they should have been out a long time ago...they haven't done a thing in the past week...and no grades have been taken for two weeks! :rolleyes1 I'm not complaining...I used to be part of that! It's just trying to justify to my boys why they still have to attend school...other than...it's the law! Anyhow...Summer is almost here! :cool2: Oh...and the humidity has already found us! Yuk!

Our last cruise we used the wrist bracelets. Even with rough seas we were ok. I was pregnant at the time and couldn't take much, but they worked. We will certainly be bringing them along this trip as well as asking my Dr for some of the sea sickness patches. I once was on a rough crossing in the North Sea and it was pure hell. I am not going to risk feeling that way again! I woudl rather have an aresenal of remedies ready and not have to use them than not have anything to fall back on!

My kids still have over a week to go (they get out on the 24th). I am so ready to be done with school for a couple of months, LOL. Thanks for the info on the documents. I guess I will just keep an eye out for the others and hope that DH or I see them before the kids do, LOL.

Welcome to the group!!!! I am a little worried about motion sickness for my kiddos on the cruise too (well, and me also) since none of us have cruised before. I will be bringing some Dramamine or Bonine with us too. Or maybe just stock up on the Mango Rum :rotfl:

Does anyone know if they have specific products for children? My DD can take adult doses but DS can't.
