Disney Dream - April 3, 2011 - 4 nights

Oh and this bit too
Spectacular restaurants including Animator’s Palate, a restaurant which will magically transform into an undersea wonderland during your meal.

Hey Cindy!!!
What is a day pass at Wyndham? That might be something to look into as well. Super exicted about the Fe's! Thanks for taking the task on :woohoo:
I think I am going to add liquor store into my shopping :yay:
Michelle

ps.......

Cindy, Just wanted to add that you are so right about the boards! When I booked our cruise , one of the first things I did after, is come to these boards! I couldn't believe the activity! I was blown away be the number of posts, and I personally want to thank Crystal for tapping into the energy and excitement for the Dream! It wasn't 24 hours later than our hold status became a full on ressie, deposit paid, and we were officially booked! Thanks to Crystal for keeping the dream alive for all of us! I am getting more excited everyday! I think we picked a great time of year, a great cruise and a great group to be cruising with!!

Did everyone see the pictures of the Dream construction?
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/final-building-block-added-to-disney-dream/

Now they say they are moving onto fitting out all the rooms and commen areas!!! So excited! I can't wait until they post actual photos of the rooms (especially the aqua duck and the kid's areas)

Ok, am I the only one that is a bit freaked out about that one part of slide is going out over the damn ocean? :confused3 But, hey, this is coming from someone that is terrified of the Tower of Terror, so what do I know? :rotfl: (However, having just posted to Crystal that I need to step out of the box, I am committed to doing the Tower in August! ) Ok, I said it! Now to follow through! UGH! Anyway, maybe when I see an actual picture of the aqua duck slide more than just an illustration or simulation, I will be more relaxed about it!
Maybe!!

I hate TOT... I am not a free fall kind of person. Roller Coasters like Spce Mountain and the Aerosmith ride are ok, but I hate free falls.

I agree the part over the ocean will be kind of scarey, but that's part of the fun! Plus you're in a raft, if you fall in at least you have a flotation device!!! lol

True that! Hey, maybe i will make my kids wear life jackets for safe measure ;)

Thanks for the kudos! :goodvibes Can you tell that I used to be an elementary school teacher??? :confused3 No way, huh? Anyhow...I love vacationing and adding on Disney just makes it all that magical. :wizard:

Okay, so I have a bunch of information for those that would like to know more about day passes in the Bahamas. Here is a link to another cruise discussion board...it has a thread about the day passes. You only need to read through the first page...look for comments from Scuba Girl. Scuba Girl lives in the Bahamas and has great information!

Now here are a few photos from our day trip to the Wyndham in Nassau...

I couldn't get a picture of it, but there is a great slide that my boys kept doing. We never even ventured to the ocean...the pool was all we needed! If you have any questions about it...just ask! Oh, and if you would like to take the Jitney to the Wyndham...:rolleyes1 That bus comes in a close second to the Aquaduck swinging out over the damn ocean! :rotfl: Not a huge fan of drops here...TOT is my least favorite ride...I'll let you know about the Duck! :donald:

To all those lurkers...go ahead and introduce yourself! We'd love to hear about your plans or your experiences with DCL cruising! :cool2: Cindy - I didn't know we had so many readers! That is fantastic! And yes, the cruise threads around our date are not as active as this one...We must be special! Or totally Disney planners! :upsidedow

Hope everyone is having a great day! We are off to a Little League game...if the weather holds. Last one of the season...thank goodness! Oh, but we still have LL All-Stars...so my baseball tales are not over for awhile! :headache:

Wow! Where have I been?? The last time I was on we were back on page 9 or something. It is so reassuring to know that the rest of you are out there planning this trip for 10 months from now! My DH and DD think I'm CRAZY to be planning things already. :rotfl2:

We are also on Deck 7 (what a coincidence that so many of us are there!) with a veranda room. I will keep thinking about the FE as this is our first cruise ever. I am a teacher and this cruise is on our spring break...I don't want to add more stress to the trip (and that part of my school year) thinking my gifts will be "less than perfect" (though I know that the point of the FE is simply to get out & meet people). I'll run it by the family and see if they're into it or not.

Thanks for the signs, too! They look awesome and I am sure I can spend some time this summer personalizing them.

Also excited to hear what everyone plans to do in Nassau. I don't think we'll stay on board since it will be our first excursion to a different country (other than Canada). Had considered scuba diving but don't know if certifications will be complete by that time. Atlantis sounds good, too, but just want to make sure we our family is in agreement about what's the best plan.

Thanks for keeping this post going so strong! It makes the cruise seem so much more real for me (& the family!).:cloud9:

I also don't know how to make the signature line yet :sad2: I hope to dedicate more time to this important job 3 days from now when school is out!

ok, Crystal, you have convinced me to look further!:yay: The Wyndham resort looks incredible. I also read through the posts from the cruise critic board! Thanks so much for sharing the link! The Sheraton looks amazing too! I am not thrilled about spending all that money for a taxi so would really ride that jitney! Yes, you heard it here first!! Haha! But, I also liked the British Colonial Hilton which is walking distance. the beach sounds incredible. However, pools are not heated and I'm afraid my kids would be too loud! :rotfl: So, I am more confused than ever on what to do! I want a super nice beach to swim in and lay around! My kids would love pools and a nice slide and my hubby wouldn't mind a casino! Thought Atlantis fit that bill but so does the Wyndham, and we can also use facilities there if we book the Sheraton, right? Decisions, decisions! Thank goodness time is on my hands!

Hope everyone had a fun long weekend! We are in the home stretch & ready for the school year to end--two weeks to go! DS5 is having preschool graduation on Wednesday which should be absolutely adorable but I'll be an emotional wreck. I get so emotional at all these little milestones!

Crystal, glad your weekend turned out to be a success--they did wonderful! :woohoo:

Michelle & Jetskigirl--that is amazing that the two of you are booked at the exact same dessert buffet. Isn't that like the same odds as getting struck by lightning or something? Look out! Can't wait to hear how your brownie fest goes! ;)

I have our two DISigns posted right under our picture of the Dream--they look awesome! :thumbsup2

Have a great week everyone!
Kathryn

LOL - I can't believe it either. I was telling DH about it over the weekend. He was also laughing about the brownie fest :rotfl:

Please add my thanks to you also Crystal. I LOVE the graphics. I spent some time this weekend playing around with adding our names to them, etc. I am getting all caught up in the idea of making door magnets, etc (fun, fun, fun)!!!

I'm going to add the Wyndham to our list of possibilities. I'm still debating which of our Nassau stops will be used for an excursion (since we are doing b2b). We do want to stay on the boat for one of them in hopes that the Aquaduck will be open during that time (with some shorter lines). But I probably won't decide anything until 1) I tell my kids about the cruise and get their input and 2) the Dream starts sailing and I read trip reports about how things will work on the ship.

Wow...that is so cool. It is exciting to start with, just planning for the cruise. But add to that watching our ship being built.....amazing :)

Hope everyone had a pleasant Memorial Day.

Last time we did the 4 day Wonder cruise we did a snorkeling adventure at Nassau. This time we're thinking either Atlantis or Wyndham day pass. I like the day pass idea b/c last time the weather wasn't great and had we paid in advance for Atlantis it would have been a disappointment. The day passes I hear you can just go out and get that day. Atlantis also seems expensive but I'll bet it's an unforgettable place. Anyway, it's great to have all this info on the boards from fellow cruisers to help in the difficult decision making!

Crystal, thanks for the FE suggestions; mini rum bottles?!? What a cool idea. I just told my husband yesterday "Okay, so we've got 10 months to come up with the coolest fish extender gift ever!". ---It's possible I need to get a life. :upsidedow Last cruise I handed out Disney PEZ for boys, Disney hair accessory packs from the Disney Store Outlet to girls, pirate shot glasses for adults, pirate rubber ducks to babies, and some other random stuff. We did love the highlighter that someone else gave us (for the navigator), and we got tons of sticky notes. So many that I took some to work (I work at a hospital). I had one doctor come up to me and ask "I seem to be missing a note that I stuck in this chart earlier, did you happen to see it? It was on a purple Tinkerbell post-it". It lightened my day just to hear this very serious surgeon all dressed in green garb actually say "purple Tinkerbell post-it". Also Crystal, the design you had created looks great, can't wait to print it on magnets for the door.

I took a minute to lurk on the boards for the Dream cruises shortly before and after ours. Some have lots of activity and some have only a page or two. But I see our thread here gets lots of views so if you're on this cruise and you haven't introduced yourself yet, please say HI!

Cheers!!!

Cindy

ROFL - I love the Tinkerbell post-it story :)

I admit, I was secretly checking out the dollar bins at Target over the weekend, trying to get ideas for the FE. ;)

:jumping1: Glad to see you checking in! And I know that you are too thrilled that it is the end of the school year! :thumbsup2 Let us know if you need any help with your signature. I found the hardest part to be just deciding on which graphics and stuff to use...the possibilities are endless! :surfweb: Oh and three cheers for the deck 7 club! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

And now for the FE stuff! I don't want to pressure anyone into participating in the FE exchange...but I will say that my family (husband included) has had the best time with the entire process. :) From figuring out what to give (this can be done way far in advanced or right as you are pulling up to Cape Canaveral), to delivering each item to the different staterooms, to receiving all the goodies that everyone has decided to give. It is truly one of the best experiences. :cutie: I know that preparing for it can be time consuming...but make it simple...if you are short on time. Hopefully we can have all the staterooms mapped out for everyone...so that will be something we won't have to think about while onboard. Anyhow...I just wanted to throw this out to everyone. The FE exchange is truly a DIS thing and for my family, cruising DCL would not be the same without it. :grouphug: Oh...and once your kids see all these things hanging outside of stateroom doors with goodies in them...You will really be glad that you participated. :goodvibes

OK...now off my soapbox! Can't you tell that I am slightly swayed by the DIS? We really do have issues! But we are a fun bunch of people and we all really love that mouse! ::MickeyMo

Well, I'm 99% sure that we will be participating in the FE, at least for the April 3rd cruise (there hasn't been much activity on the April 7th cruise thread yet so I don't know about that one).

But I agree, once my kids start seeing the FEs, they will want to do it. I probably won't do it on our 2-night cruise in January (on the Wonder), because there won't be much time. But at least I will be able to show the kids what it is like then and they can help me with the gifts.

LOL - I can't believe it either. I was telling DH about it over the weekend. He was also laughing about the brownie fest :rotfl:

Either I need to start dieting or just bring some duct tape for my big mouth!!

Check out the Sheraton too! It is really nice!! Would be kind of fun to all venture out together on those jitneys, right??:woohoo:
