Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

Hey Dreamers!

I'm on the Sept 2nd sailing. Can you share with me what movies were shown on your cruise?

Thanks!

Have a BLAST!! The movies were:

Cars 2
The Muppets
People Like Us
Chimpanzee
The Avengers
Brave
The Odd Life of Timothy Green (the pre-mEAR)

A belated note to say the Dream was absolutely amazing! Having only been on the Wonder, we were very impressed with all the advances and features. We now want to "collect them all" and rebooked!

Thank you to all the folks who participated in the Guppy Exchange! It was such fun for the girls to come back to the stateroom and find goodies and messages waiting for them. They especially loved the Mickey tote bag with the bling (perfect for holding all the GE gifts), the journals, lip gloss, and gummies. Thank you everyone for everything! Oh - and I didn't realize the starboard side had seahorse hooks instead of fish - so what are baby seahorses called, and is this the same for the newer Disney ships??

Thanks to everyone for all of the fish extender gifts, although I have no idea who a lot of them came from. It was always exciting to come back and find things in the fish extender.

My fish extender gifts should be easy for everyone to figure out. They were mainly things that you could easily identify as coming from Canada :thumbsup2

Thanks for the Canada stuff- my father in law was Canadian and those items brought back a lot of fun memories of him!

Hi everyone! Glad to hear everyone made it back home safely!

It is tuff readjusting to normal life. :rotfl: Looking foward to being able to go on another cruise in the future. Though, have to say, it will probably be with Royal Caribbean. We did enjoy the Disney cruise, but mainly because of the grandchildren. They loved the kids club  and all the Disney characters onboard . The two things that my daughter and I enjoyed the most, was the attentiveness of staff (mainly: Sasa, our Dining Room Server, Ali, our Head Server, and Holly and Nichola in the Oceaneer Club) and Castaway Cay (Disney's very beautiful private island). :beach:

We all went to see The Odd Life of Timothy Green and I went to see Brave in 3D. popcorn:: Almost stayed to see the Avengers after that, but my eyes were tired after watching Brave in 3D :3dglasses, so went back to the cabin for a nap before dinner instead. :faint:

As you all mentioned previously, the deck and stairs were quite hot on Deck 11 and 12. My granddaughter and I burnt our feet going up the stairs to the AquaDuck the first day. By the last day, they allowed us to keep our flip flops on! :woohoo:

It was great meeting some of you at the group meeting the first day, though, we didn't stay for long. :grouphug: We also enjoyed participating in the FE. The grandchildren looked forward to checking it every time they came back to the cabin. It was one of their favorite things on the cruise! :worship: Thank you all who were a part of this. Hope you enjoyed our gifts as well.

We also enjoyed seeing all the wonderfully decorated doors! We did leave a message or two for some of you. We also ejoyed the many notes that were left for us! :thumbsup2

Thank you all for making this cruise such an enjoyable one for us. :cheer2::cheer2:

We just got home last night after spending a week at Disney World. It was hot hot hot there but we all had a ball!!

The cruise was awesome. I really didn't know what to expect but it was amazing!!!! My youngest said , "Mom, we need to come back for 8 days next time!". Too right. :)

I brought all kinds of gravol type stuff but didn't need any of it!! Phew.

We too burned our feet on the deck the first day because our water shoes were packed. Youch! I knew about those hot decks but there was little we could do about it until we got our bags in our room.

My youngest measures exactly 42" at home and she was thrilled to be able to ride the Aquaduck. We got up to the gate and she measured under the mark!!! There was a family beside us and the same thing happened to their daughter earlier so the mom brought her with flipflops on, and she made the height cutoff. So when our bags arrived, we came back with our watershoes on and, with a different CM, and she got on the Duck. Oh man was she happy!! She IS 42" tall!!!! :)

Returning to the real world is hard! LOL

Hey guys! I was not on your cruise, but I had a question for you guys. We are booked for September next year and I was wondering how the weather was for you guys over there at the time of your cruise?
Were you able to go to all your ports? Any rough seas?
Also, did any of you do Disney World before hand? How was the weather? Would you go in August again?
Thanks for your help in advance!
You can also email me - stefanie_peacock@yahoo.com if you do not want to comment here in the forum.
Thanks for your help!!

Hi Stefanie, I would be happy to answer some of your questions for you.

The weather for our cruise was great. It was very hot though, so if you don't like hot, hot, hot, then summer might not be the best sailing time for you. Of course there are plenty of things to do inside to get away from the heat for a bit. I like hot weather so I was pretty much okay with it.

Be warned though about the extremely hot decks that are capable of burning the bottom of feet, look at a few of our last posts about it.

The seas were extremely calm on our cruise. 99% of the time you had to really concentrate to even feel the ship moving. We had no trouble with getting to any of our ports of call.

We did not do Disney before or after our cruise this time, so I cannot comment too much on that. We have gone to Disney World the last week of August before and again it was quite hot and a small hurricane/tropical storm came through and brought us a ton of rain but overall it was a great time to go. It wasn't busy really and when the storm came we just put on rain ponchos and keep going:thumbsup2

I hope some of this helps. Any more questions feel free to ask. :goodvibes
