Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

I DID see you! We ran into each other several times actually in the lounge! I think we were in the cabana next to you and table near you at dinner too. I pointed out your daughters dress to my girls at the Goofy meet. :) and I think our kids spent time together in kids club in the evenings.

And I had heavy duty magnets so you could have gotten your ears to stick. Mine didn't stay well, but they did manage to stay up most the time. I had much more with me, but didn't want everything sliding down the whole time so just did the Captain Mickey ears.

Funny! I didn't make it to the meet up thing the first day (was a little grumpy that day lol). I am sorry I didn't realize I "knew" you! We were cabana #14- wasn't that the bomb!!? I was also kind of grumpy at the goofy meet (really I am usually a fantastically outgoing pleasant person haha) b/c my teenager was supposed to be there and missed it (he did tell me he was going to see the Avengers, just not that it wouldn't be over until after 4)

I printed mine on the magnetic paper from staples. Ah well. I hung our message board and the magnet with our names I had had made on Esty on the inner door that WAS magnetic. I left notes for Jaime (our stateroom host) every night (like "thanks", not scrub the toilet or anything like that haha)

Kristin, love your pictures.

I do not think that I came across your family very often onboard the ship. None of you look familiar to me.

Glad you had fun.

The Hubs and I want to rent a cabana for a week!!! We were in #16, once I upload some pictures I'll post them. My kids LOVED the towel animals every night. We even had tears :( the second night from little miss princess because the stingray was taken down.

Real life kinda sucks in comparison. I keep looking for Rodrigo or Lynda to show up and make arrangements for us for dinner. Ahhh to be independently wealthy and be able to afford those perks every day, but I wouldn't appreciate it as much on vacation if I did.

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out if there is anything that could have been done better on board. The only things I could come up with are:
1) Flavored Coffee Mate creamers. I am addicted to the French Vanilla, but could make due with anything other than plain.
2) Better information in the Navigator about Kids Club on Castaway Cay. A lot of people were confused about the kids area there, and we even had to ask in the morning whether we had to bring the kids back on board while we did our thing and then were told about the area there.

That's all I could come up with. Anyone else have anything?

Wish I were still here haha!

Hi all! We're trying to adjust back to every day life, missing the Dream alot! First day of Kindergarten today for DS.

It was nice to meet some of you. I think Robin was my daily person to see. I saw you everywhere, even from at a distance a few times when I'm not sure if you saw me. I even have a picture with you in it from the muster drill! That was our first time doing it outside...I missed the comfort and the a/c of having it in the theater!

Everything was wonderful and we couldn't have asked for smoother seas. That was so nice!

Thanks so much for all of the Guppy Exchange treats. Very thoughtful and fun things! :-)

Sorry to hear about your magnet situation Kristin! The surprise birthday magnet I made for DS (he knew about all of the other ones) was stolen the first night. That really ticked me off that someone would be so rude...but I'm sure it was some kid running the halls late at night. DS was pretty upset about it though and kept hoping it would reappear.

We booked another cruise while on board...we're going to try the Wonder over Spring Break. Something different...and something too look forward to now!!

 That's what it seemed that we were always doing ;)

It was nice to come across you and your family so often. I always enjoy it when I see someone I know around the ship.

We also got home yesterday afternoon - spent the day in Orlando Sunday and had a morning flight. Really enjoyed the cruise and meeting some of you and seeing you around the ship! Heather was the person I bumped into the most! :wave2:

This was the first time we have cruised in the summer and I was worried it might be too hot, but I thought the weather was great!! :beach:

Hope you guys all had a magical cruise and are adjusting to the real world! :laundy:

Did anybody notice how extremely hot the decks were in the sun ?

I tried to walk in bare feet on some of them and it was so hot it actually burned the bottom of my feet. :crazy2:

Hi!!! :waving back: :wave2:

Yes!! I had read this before hand and told my DH and DS and one afternoon they forget my DS' water shoes and he came back after an aqua duck run and told me it was so hot and his foot hurt a little on the bottom. I couldn't see anything but I believed him based on comments on the DIS. Sunday night after we got home and he took his shower I happened to notice a spot on his foot and it was a very small blister! It wasn't bothering him (he's pretty tough) but sure enough it was from that afternoon. I've read many complaints about the hot decks and standing in line for the aqua duck so they really do need to find a solution for this since so many people might not have water shoes with them or know to wear something :sad2: I know Disney doesn't want guests with blisters due to burning. I thought I'd send a note and just let them know about the issue - not sure how many really take the time to let them know and they can't fix it if they aren't really aware.

Hope you didn't get burned too bad!

Heather

No real damage done but they got really red and I had to wait a long time for the pain to subside. It was really really horrible. I can't imagine children on those decks.

I was going to go on the aquaduck since there wasn't a line and I was already in a bathing suit from Castaway Cay but I left my shoes on Deck 11 and walked up the stairs to Deck 12, First mistake.

Then I tried to climb the stairs to the Aquaduck, second mistake. I had to turn back real quick.

I was glad that I had stashed a towel in the cubby holes at the entrance to the line.

Then of course I had to go back down to Deck 11 to get my shoes. Agony by the time I got there. I actually stopped in Nemo's Reef entrance to cool off my feet ;)

Yikes!! Yep my DH and DS only did the aqua duck at the quieter times so they weren't waiting long but apparently it was hot enough!!! I can't imagine the kids that have to stand there waiting!

Yes, it was really bad! (Also at Atlantis it was super hot.) My feet were a mess by Friday haha.

I had to carry my kids a couple separate times- my 9 year old is 90 pounds! I wonder how they could rectify that? Spray the decks? Glad you have no lasting damage,

I'm guessing that the deck must get slippery when it is wet judging by how they are always squeegeeing the water off of them:confused3

Something really does need to be done though to fix the problem. I don't know what they can do at this point to fix the decks but there should be something they can do with the stairs.

Just back to the UK yesterday and recovering from jet lag, a HUGE thank you to the members of the Guppy Exchange is was wonderful to receive and give presents, we hope you got your Olympic gifts - as we had an incident when some magnets had been stolen from our door.

Looked at booking a cruise onboard but could not get the discount on the concierge, so didn't!

VERY disappointed to be told we needed to be off the ship by 8 to pick the connecting flight back to NY at 1pm, got to the airport for 9:30 and waited around until 12:30 - DO NOT BELIEVE DISNEY WHEN THEY TELL YOU YOU HAVE TO BE OFF THE SHIP!

This gives them more time to prepare for the next passengers!

Cruise report coming up.

We had a great time! The first day I didn't think cruising was for me- too many lines, etc., but by day 2 I had warmed up to it all ;) I made my facebook album public for a bit so y'all can see my pictures, I'll also put a few here as well.

Facebook album with 103 photos

Our view of most of the characters the first few days- kept missing them lol

Caught up with Goofy on Pirate night (my oldest was watching the Avengers and missed this...):

Us at dinner in the Royal Palace- we had the big round table under the glass slipper chandelier (we were cruising with another family of 4 so were 9 of us total). Was really nice, but too big we had to shout across the table!!

By far our favorite thing on the cruise- Castaway Cay! We rented a cabana and it was so great! I could have spend several more hours here. We ran out of time to bike. We even used the kids club (just for an hour) here and dh and I took a long fun snorkel out to all the buried stuff :)

We are thinking of doing another over spring break!

Oh one thing that was disappointing- we staying on the 11th floor and the doors weren't magnetic :- I had printed out ears for the porthole... ah well haha.

The kids club was great for my 2 youngest- they did a wonderful job with Thomas (who has down syndrome) and he begged to go nightly! We did the dine and play and it worked out great.

LOVE the pictures - thanks for sharing!! ;)

Agreed about the decks - there has to be SOMETHING those wonderful imagineers can come up with? In June since it was cooler and more overcast - this issue didn't come up - but since this cruise so much hotter, it was a huge difference.

Hey Dreamers!

I'm on the Sept 2nd sailing. Can you share with me what movies were shown on your cruise?

Thanks!
