Disney Dream! 8/15/2012

Welcome, Evelyn and Heather! I'm a latecomer as well (but by procrastinating) :surfweb:, and offered to do a "Guppy Extender" exchange for the kiddos. It's just 3 kids, ages 6/8/9, but if your cabin wants to "play", maybe we can open it up to "kids of all ages". We're thinking to sneak attack each other with little surprises and gifts throughout the cruise, like a Secret Santa :santa: Secret Pal :cool2: type of thing. If you or anyone else think this will be fun , PM me! I'd love to have a few more join us!!

We are also looking forward to it, last minute booking for 2 adults and 1 son aged 12 years. Looking forward to the nice weather - got to be better than the weather in England!

Anyone on deck 8 on this cruise, I believe we are towards the aft!

Hello all you newcomers! Here's a little info just in case you haven't read through all these posts! Can't wait to meet everyone & I can't wait to get sailing! I have to get my boys off to scout camp next week then I can really start to get organized and set things aside to pack etc!:stir::lovestruc

Betsy (Dalpal) and I had set up some information for a DIS meet the first afternoon onboard but she never posted it here yet.

I will find the information and post it.

Here it is:

Hello fellow cruisers! Robin and I have come up with a meeting place if it works for everyone.

We will all meet up before the sail away at 3PM-ish in the Bon Voyage lounge.
It is ........
From the disney site: "a bar located on Deck 3, Midship, situated in the grand Atrium on the Disney Dream. It is the perfect place for Guests to enjoy a refreshing beverage before dinner.
...
Bon Voyage offers a sophisticated Art Deco retreat for Guests to relax and unwind at the bar or in its comfortable sitting area.

Beverages
Bon Voyage's full bar serves a large selection of beer, wine and mixed cocktails to Guests 21 years of age or older for an additional fee."

Hello to all the newbies, and welcome aboard!:wave2:
Not much longer now!...:woohoo:

Enjoying a nice day finally after that heatwave we experienced. Hoping to get FE gifts and magnets for door completed this week or next. Thought of having some type of gift basket delivered to room, but am now thinking might do without. I know that Shirley makes nice gift baskets, but not sure if I need the extra expense. Hoping that the FE will bring enough excitement and surprise for the girls. Just want to make this 1st cruise for them to be one that they will long remember. I'm thinking Disney pretty much has that covered!

Not sure I wanted to hear that.

:rolleyes1

;)

You'll have it all figured out in no time.

Or maybe we can get one of those GPS bracelets they use for the little kids so that WE can find YOU!:lmao:

We looked at Navigators and deck plans before we went so we'd somewhat have an idea of where things are. Takes a bit to get your bearings!

I'm not worried about getting lost. I'm worried about my fear of heights and/or getting sea sick. :crazy2:

You'll be okay. I will make sure you don't fall overboard

If you get seasick then you are on your own :lmao:

Kim, I take a Bonnine (Dramimine is good too) every morning of my cruise as I do get motion sick easily. ( hence the room with bal. when I need air I need it ASAP)They are 24 hr. pills (chew-able) so one a day is all you need. make sure you start with the first one at least 30 mins before you board.
I actually start to take them the night before I get on our plane, and continue to take one every morning until my vaca is over. They can make you drowsy, but I drink coffee or tea often so I think that counteracts that side effect as I am normally not.
There are also wrist bands I hear work, and a patch you put behind your ear. I think you have to get the patch from a Dr. Also I have heard drinking ginger ale or ginger tea works too.
Hope some of this helped.

As for falling off the ship you would have to be quite the climber, because the rails are very high. As long as you keep your feet on the deck you will have a very hard time falling overboard.

And there Kim, is your challenge for the trip :rotfl2:

If you are planning on not keeping your feet on the floor make sure that you are at least inside the bar when you do it. :hyper:

As for the sea sickness you can also get Ginger Gravol pills. I always bring all that stuff with me but so far have not had to make use of it. Better safe than sorry though is the way I look at it.

So if you find yourself needing something just ask. I probably have it with me :thumbsup2

Thank you!! ;) I appreciate the offer, sincerely, but we will likely pass for this last minute (or so it feels like it) cruise. We decided we'd just go with the flow for this one and not "plan" as much. I thoroughly enjoyed our last FE but we also had 14 months to plan it and get things organized and now we're down to 3 weeks. :cool1:

Another recent booker! It seems several of us took advantage of the attractive rates they offered! I think the weather should be better for you! My BFF actually lives in London so I hear about it all the time! :rotfl2:

I agree with the Bonine suggestion or the Dramamine Less Drowsy as I believe they are the same ingredients. I personally used the Bonine chewables for this last cruise and had no issues. I had previously read to take them at night, like prior to dinner time and take them the same time. I did make sure I took one before I actually got on the cruise so at our hotel the night before is when I took my first one. Even though it was the less drowsy kind, it did make me a little tired, but nothing significant. It probably helped me sleep a little better actually and again, no issues. We even had an extended aft verandah and decent rocking the first night - no issues! :thumbsup2

I can't tell you how many times I log in every day looking for our cabin assignment and to see if we've been moved to early dining! We are down to 23 days so the cabin assignment should be coming hopefully soon!! :cool1:

Oh Robin!! :lmao: The bar(s) it is then! :rotfl2:

Thanks Betsy, Robin & Heather! I do have the patch, Rory too, and we have Sea Bands, but I haven't reached a comfort level yet. :rolleyes2 I also have xanax but I don't want to sleep the cruise away! :rolleyes1
