DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Thank you so much! And everyone that answered before ;-}

We're still thinking about whether we want to keep Palo for thurs night or not. I realize this next statment may get me tarred, feathered, and tossed overboard :lmao:- but we really did NOT enjoy it on the Wonder in Dec 2009. We thought we'd give it a 2nd chance but I know hubby won't miss it if we pass it by this time :rolleyes1

OTOH it did work out to being a 2nd dine opportunity so- we'll see ;)

Thanks again!

 you didn't like Palo, I agree, pirate night tar and feather and walk the plank...:rotfl:

Food is very subjective, everyone has their likes an dislikes. What we like someone else may not and vice versa. Our Palo experience on the Magic was very good, the food and service was excellent. Hoping for the same on the Dream.

We enjoyed Palo, but the hype here on the DIS was way too much better than it was for us. Palo brunch for me is way overrated. I enjoy the lunch part of the meal. The breakfast part for me was, were is it? Beth loved the breakfast and was not interested in lunch part.:confused3

Not to jump off the food discussion bandwagon (but I am as I sit here eating my very unhealthy pizza bagel bites....)

But - don't you just get excited about all of the stupid little things that you do because or for this cruise. For example- today I booked our shuttle to the airport from home (there are 9 of us so we called a limo company for a mini buss - ends up being $30 per person - ROUND TRIP INCLUDING TIP!!). Something as simple as that made me SO happy because I was one step closer to our cruise.
Yesterday my excitement was something as sad as finding and buying family size spray bottles of Banana Boat 50 for the kids! (they have Casper the Friendly Ghost skin and will BURN).

Apparently it doesn't take much to excite me!!! :lmao:

I know exactly what you mean. I started buying a few dresses and a blouse that I just loved back in August when we booked the cruise. I tried them on tonight and was so excited (both about the cruise and that they still fit). I was equally excited with my new beach bag for the cruise!

We know what you mean. All the things we need to do to get ready for our cruise also brings us happiness.

We used Hertz in November. They were great getting us to the port. I dropped Beth(DW) off at the port and gave the bags to the porter. This made it very easy. The other folks in the van with me was the whole party with luggage. It went well for them also. You should be just fine.

What time did you drop the car at Hertz? We are planning too arrive at Hertz around 10am that morning on the 29th.:confused3
I figure that gives us time too get it dropped and get a shuttle too the port by 11:00 am...I can not drop anyone first because it is just Josie and I. We should only have 1 big suit case and then each a carry on. That won't be so bad.:goodvibes

Hello everyone! We are on the double dip too! We have been booked for awhile, but I just haven't gotten around to joining the cruise meet. It will be myself and my two boys (3 and 5), and my mom, dad, and sister. We sailed the Magic 2 years ago and obviously fell in love!! We also do Disney every January and are simply addicted. I can't wait to get to Castaway Cay.

I am not sure what time I turned in the car. It was around 10am. You should be able to check in at the port by around 11am. I did have to wait a about 5 to 10 minutes before I could turn in the car. Waiting to be waited on. They were running one van that day. It is a short ride to the ship. I would just say relax every thing should work out fine.

Hmm - do you happen to know if this is how it works after the cruise? ie they run a shuttle?

We've got a 1 way rental for a week from Hertz after the cruise, and I just realized I have no idea how we go get the car:laughing:

So... I got some totally not cruise related but still very exciting news this afternoon.
My DD who's 5 was offered a contract with a local modeling company and I have to call them tomorrow with a decision. They met her at an open call on Saturday and when I spoke with them today they used the words "loved her". VERY exciting.
So.... I also entered her in a Ralph Lauren facebook 'casting' contest tonight. Once Ralph Lauren approves her entry they send me a link for folks on facebook to vote for her. So I am going to shamelessly ask all of my DIS friends on this meet group to vote for her (if you have a FB account, and don't really like any of the other kids or don't know anyone else who's entered). Thanks in advance!!! My DD wants to be the next "Miley" or "Selena" (yes she's a Disney Channel fanatic!!)

This is exciting news. Count me in for some votes. Very happy for you! You must be so proud. Good Luck!!!!

Yes they have shuttles to car rentals when the ships come in. We did a post cruise car rental with another company and they as well as others have shuttles to pick you up. I would have their phone number on you and call when you get through customs. They have certain areas for shuttle pickup. It went real smooth.

We were able to get the excursions that we wanted last night. I stayed up until 12 and was finished by 12:05. We had decided to skip Palo but I still wanted to check if there was a time open and no go. So, that was settled.

We are still GTY. I really want to get our room assignment.

Where on DCL site did you see that Ducky would be on our cruise? I couldn't find anything other than an article about his 2010 cruises which I saw from the Castaway Club area. My kids would LOVE to go to his presentation. Thanks

It is on the castaway club home page I see after logging in and clicking the castaway club link above the top banner.

Thanks too all you nice folks on the DIS boards....I love you guys...

I had two nice ladies offer too go too dinner with me since my friend cancelled.

So it is Angie from Canada that will be joining me for dinner at Palo.:goodvibes I am so happy I won't have too dine alone...:cloud9: thank you thank you thank you...

Thank you Denise for also offering....

Looking forward too meeting all of you on board.:thumbsup2

We had more snow yesterday here in St.louis and now supposed too be 70 by Thursday!!! crazy weather....:rolleyes1

Hello Cruisers! :cool1:

I am so excited! We have been booked on the cruise for a while now, however, last night we made all of our reservations! I am super excited! :)

I did have one questions for your veteran cruisers out there! :) Since this is my very first cruise, I am not sure how all this works.

I booked a Couples Choice on day 4 from 5:15 - 7:25PM - we have the second dinning, so it will not interfere with that, however, will we miss a show or anything special that night if we do this?

I really want to have special "alone" time with my hubby, but I do not want to have the kids miss out on anything, so if there is something going on, I would just need to cancel.

Does anyone know our Itinerary yet?

I did the online check in and keep checking to see if anything has posted and I am just not seeing anything.

OH! one other question, if you book these excursions and spa treatments, can you change your mind the day of or do you have to cancel before hand? I did not really see any rules and regulations except for Palo and Remy... (Which were completely booked :sad2:)

Thanks for all your help out there! This is all new to me and I just want to make sure I have everything down with my planning.

You guys are great!

Stef

Welcome Stef,

I do know that Pirate night is Tuesday May 31st. Dress up night I believe is our first Castaway cay day May 30th.

I do think you can change your spa treatments, but I believe 24 hour notice and you may want too check availability of other times first..Those book up fast too.

No worries about Palo or Remi...As soon as you get on board there will be a place you can go too get a dinner reservation...they will save some times for the day we board. Plus I am sure you can get on a wait list... You should really try..Palo is so good!!

Those I believe are 24 hour notice also for cancellation without a charge.:thumbsup2

I booked Palo for the first night at 8pm..This was I can take my daughter too dinner at 6pm in our rotation restaurant and I just won't eat..but I still get too experience it and get good and hungry...then DD can go check out the Edge while I enjoy Palo...:goodvibes

Anyway..Welcome aboard!

Dave, thanks so much! I figured I email them about a week out... but I'll definitely have the # on hand too

Anyway..Welcome aboard!

For our Dec 2009 cruise the cancellation policy on excursions and spa treatments was 48hr before the cruise. I know we tried to cancel something once we came aboard on Sun for Tues and couldn't do it. So hubby went parasailing while being ill:lmao: he did fine tho

Then again policy may have changed since :confused3 but I'd call/email and double check that.

I forgot who posted they were hoping to book this: I just noticed there were some openings for the watercrafts on CC.
