DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Also to the fish extender experts: I really want to do this since I think the kids will have fun, but what kind of gifts do I get. I am not craft or creative....trust me its hopeless. Do people just buy a family gift or is it something for everyone in the cabin....I am in need of help...a lot of it.

Hi, you can do anything you want. Some do 1 gift per cabin, some do adults and kids seperate. There is a thread on the main boards w/ ideas that people have done not all homemade gifts either.some ideas Candy, something from your state etc.... hope this helps!

We had had our Disney Dream cruises booked since the first day in 2009 that we could book.....Well today she tells me that she is cancelling!!!!!:confused3

Sorry to hear this!!! I'm glad you're still going...but wow! You'll have a great time and keep trying and you can get your mom or DH to go w/ you!:wizard: I would be shocked!!:scared1: It seems so late since you have been planning since 09.
Sorry, I have to ask but what/where is Branson? :confused3

I asked this on another thread and thought what the heck I would also ask here too......I need a hotel for sat night but not sure what to do, I am getting the impression that the country inn is nice, but for our family on the cruise special its 192. Does anyone know of any better deals, or is this as good as it gets.

I go to dollar stores for ideas for the FE. You can find some disney things there once in a while. Check out the bins at Target when you first walk in, some great items there too. I tend to stay away from food items due to allery or dietary issues.

The 4 Points by sheraton was a good bit cheaper when I checked last week.

We got the Country Inn for $114/night with the park and cruise. But there are only 4 of us so that's probably why it's cheaper than your post. We also priced an oceanfront room at Best Western in Cocoa Beach and it was $129/night. Again for 4 people. Also we booked back in September for our room so that may factor in as well.

Thanks for the replies. I am glad to see that for the FE I can do a family gift, we are trying hard to budget, and these days money don't go far.

I think part of my problem with the country inn is that when I check online they are quoting us for a larger room, that 3rd kid makes it hard. Should I be leary of leaving my vehicle at a hotel for 5 days, or is it safer at the port.

We stayed at Country Inn last year and had no problems with leaving our car there.

We are staying at the Radisson this time. It was a little cheaper than Country Inn and we will probably use the pool Sat night. Their pool is a lot nicer than Country Inn's.

Country Inn did raise their price. I couldn't even book it through Priceline at $109. Last time, we got the room from Priceline for $49.

more Friday's until we are "The First to Dream it Twice"

:sad2:
I have accepted it and am now trying too make all my changes...

Cancelled the private shuttle...cancelled the Raddsion suite we had booked..

I went on line and got a car for dd and I through AAA for the 28th for $50 and I think we will jut hotwire a hotel at Downtown Disney for Sat night and then drive too the port in the morning..Drop the car at Hertz and they have a shuttle to the port.
After the cruise I add DCL transfers back too AKV..Just so I don't have too worry about anything...Get off the ship and on the bus...

Mom and Dad said they may fly down on Friday and join us at AKV for those last few days...So that will be nice.:goodvibes My husband nor my parents can believe she has done this too me...Such short notice...:confused3

So far I can still add no one too my room.

For the poster that asked about Branson..It is Branson MO in the Ozarks and it has lots of fun things like Silver Dollar city, music & dinner shows, museums...Tablerock lake... You may have heard of Big Cedar Lodge by the owners of Bass Pro shops...Very nice! A big midwest vacation destination. Been there a bunch..Easy 3 hour drive for us and we are actually headed too Branson this weekend.:thumbsup2

So I don't think there is on this thread, but wondering if there are any Mom's traveling with their kids on this trip that would want too join me at Palo one night???? Just thought I would ask......:confused3

There is no way I would cancel...I could tell my friend was not excited about any of our planning and I knew something was up....:sad2:

Hey all!

I was wondering if anyone had heard about:

Pirate night? will we have it, if so when?

I can answer this part of your question...I called DCL and they told me Pirate night will be Tuesday May31 (Nassau night)pirate:

Still not sure of formal and I suppose we won't know our rotations till we check in at the port.

I think I remember reading before that on the 5-night double dips they don't have a formal night, but a dressy night instead.

So... when I read your original post I turned to my DH and said "I feel so bad- that sucks and I hate to think of her eating alone - I wonder if she'd want company!!" and then I read your other post!!! :rotfl2:
I would seriously consider joining you, depending on day/time. We have not only DH to take care of the kids (I have 2) but my mother AND mother in law will be there - hell I may skip dinner one night with them ANYWAY - just for sanity sake!!

If your serious or you have no other takers, PM me and I'll let you know what I can do!!!

We used Hertz in November. They were great getting us to the port. I dropped Beth(DW) off at the port and gave the bags to the porter. This made it very easy. The other folks in the van with me was the whole party with luggage. It went well for them also. You should be just fine.

I just knew this was coming, but why did she wait till now too do it!!!

No wonder she never booked our flights....:rolleyes1

I called DCL and tried too see if I could add my husband or my Mom and they told me the ship is at capacity and even though my room sleeps 3 I can not add them right now???:sad2: The agent was so nice and told me too check everyday and when final payment approaches and people like my friend cancel then they may let me add one person....:confused3

Now I have too think about the cancelling the private shuttle and our suite at the Radisson...It just messes up everything....:confused3 I just can not believe she did this at the last minute......

I asked if I could still dine at Palo alone...How sad is that???:sad2: The DCL agent said of course...She said actually you will love it. She said her friend dined alone once and they totally catered too her the whole evening and even invited her back another night too eat at Palo..So she said go....:goodvibes

So I most likely will and who knows maybe I can add someone too my ressie. I really wish I could talk my Mom into going...I know she would love it. My husband is starting a new job soon and he is afraid too take off that week..Summer is their busiest time.....:sad2: UGH! This is such a mess.

I know one thing....I am not cancelling... DD and I have done WDW many times alone and we can manage doing DCL alone if I have too.

I just think my friend is crazy too miss out on this experience and money is not an issue for her....She said she thinks they will just go too Branson instead.....OMG!

Sorry to hear about your friend cancelling. I am going solo and would love:love: to join you at Palo ( if you have no one yet ) I am planning to book on board if I can.

I sent DCL an email about dining rotations. This is what they sent me:

Night 1- Cruise Casual
Night 2- Dress Up Night
Night 3- Pirate Night (Cruise Casual)
Night 4- Cruise Casual
Night 5- Cruise Casual

Dining Rotations
Enchanted Garden, Royal Palace, RP, Animators Palete, EG
AP, EG, EG, RP, AP
RP, AP, AP, EG, RP

Based on the rotations we won't miss eating at all the restaurants since we booked Palo dinner for the last night.

They also stated that jeans are acceptable for cruise casual.

I was just on the DCL site and realized that Don "Ducky" Williams who is a Disney artist will be on our cruise. I hear he does a great presentation. I don't recall anyone posting this before. I am really excited.

Where on DCL site did you see that Ducky would be on our cruise? I couldn't find anything other than an article about his 2010 cruises which I saw from the Castaway Club area. My kids would LOVE to go to his presentation. Thanks

Thank you so much! And everyone that answered before ;-}

We're still thinking about whether we want to keep Palo for thurs night or not. I realize this next statment may get me tarred, feathered, and tossed overboard :lmao:- but we really did NOT enjoy it on the Wonder in Dec 2009. We thought we'd give it a 2nd chance but I know hubby won't miss it if we pass it by this time :rolleyes1

OTOH it did work out to being a 2nd dine opportunity so- we'll see ;)

Thanks again!
