DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Does everyone else have their suitcases out already too, or am I just crazy??

I have 2 girls ages 4 & 7 and I tend to dress them alike when we are in big crowds so I am sort of the over organizer...

BTW we have a virtual porthole, so if anyone wants to see it up close, let me know

Roll Call info:

Jay(36), Kelly(turning 39 on May 30th) and Emily(5 at cruise time) Cabin 8118, Early Dining

I don't think we'll be early enough for the meet & greet but I will keep my eyes open for any other information that gets posted. Our flight doesn't arrive at MCO until almost 1pm so we are cutting it very close! We didn't have a whole lot of options flying out of Toronto & didn't think driving across the border would be much fun with a 5 year old!

I added you to the roll call. Read your getting to know you info, similar work, I am an x-programmer, now do software quality assurance. Also like the movie Pure Country...

I have to agree with ABCAngie. I was taken back by the FE thread on the other thread. I too am a newbie and went from lurker to poster to sign us up for the FE list. I am not a big typer and online chatter. When I first read about the FE's... I immediately pictured my StephentheBrave sneaking down a hallway putting some candy in FE's. My wife and son had alot of fun picking the colors for the FE that we ordered off of EBay. We are looking forward to it alot. The worry is that we are over our heads. We are on a fixed budget and can not get extreme on this. We pictured it as more like a reverse Halloween. Some of the gifts that are pictured on different threads are way beyond our means. I read that some folks want a smaller FE list, might I suggest a smaller list with people like us who just want to do some candy, stickers, or something small?

Thanks,

Bill

Do not stress over the FE. Do what you can afford. You can do 1 gift per cabin. If you feel there are too many participating, let us know. I would not be offended if you decided not to put something in my family FE. Actually, the best gift you could give me would be in person and that would be to tell me that I am either smokin' hot or there is no way I look like I'm as old as I am and have had 2 kids. :lmao:

Others have requested to split the group. I'm sure Virginia could make a new list with those who want to split and those who do not.

I plan on getting something for each person on the list, but not everyone is getting the same thing. (I hope people are not offended.) I am making some items and I have bought some items that I am embellishing.

The FE is about having fun. No need to compare your gifts to others.

:woohoo::woohoo:

EIGHT MORE FRIDAYS?!?! WOW that is soooo DOABLE, right?! Can I get an Amen?
Palms pumping up in the air and "AMEN!":rotfl:

OH MY GOSH!!! We are getting so close!!!!!!! Can't Wait! pirate:
Did your parents ever tell you about the cruise or are you still playing dumb? Weren't you the one who looked online with the castaway cay number?

I want to see! But my dh will probably tell me that there is no way we are going into someone else's cabin.

My dh is a QA manager.

Hi Chuck, thanks for the reply :) What industry do you work in? I was in the insurance industry for 10 years & have been in marketing for the auto industry for the last 4 years. Almost like solving puzzles all the time! haha Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I have to agree w/others--I was also taken back a bit by the "FE" thread--
I am not a big chatter but this seems like a really fun thing to do. I think it is so much fun to surprise people w/gifts--no matter how big or small.
So I say no worries--have fun w/it!!
:yay:

8 more Fridays-- woo hoo!!

Did you see the thread recently started that asked "what do you think of people who join your Meet group just for the FE?" (I don't know how to link to it so you'll just have to go look).

I read the post and it sounded just like me?!

So I just wanted to tell you, my cruise group, that I'm EXCITED to get to know some people before and during our cruise, and that I didnt even know what the heck an FE was until after I did some reading on this page.

I'm doing the FE because it's just totally my kind of thing. And let me tell ya. I've got some awesome ideas rolling around in my head for you FE-ers. :)

But anyways. Just wanted to mention that here. I'm all about new friends and acquantances, (or however you spell that), and I'm so thrilled that DisBoards helps us create a little community for our very own sailing! The FE is just the icing on the cake :)

may your day be full of pixie dust!

I saw the thread and honestly it doesn't bother me whether someone joins just for FE. Of course I can say that with ease because we aren't doing it this cruise. So, I for one did not look at the thread and even think about our group. I love forums and chatting, but my DH wishes I did not. He wasn't comfortable with the FE and I'm fine with it. So don't worry about it. Have fun and do post pics after the cruise to show me what we missed in FE gifts:eek:

Count me in on the Dr. Pepper--diet or regular, doesn't matter!!! :thumbsup2

Have to admit, I'm more lurker than poster. But I do the FE cuz it just does my heart good to spread some magic!

This will be our 6th cruise and while we are by no means cruise experts, we are more than happy to share our experiences or answer any questions we can. And now that we finally got our cabin assignment, we can also schedule tours for those of you wanting to see a virtual porthole!! :lmao:

Angie, thanks so much for taking charge of the meet & greet. The green DIS badges are a great idea and I am sooooo looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible! Love the idea of getting together in the evening, too--we'll probably be in attendance at both.

Oh yeah, and see my avatar--DH wears black pants & shoes with a "pirate" shirt while I like to do a little more. We've seen folks in costumes that probably cost hundreds of dollars, people who don't dress up at all, and everything in between. Do what feels right for you when it comes to Pirate Night. You won't see me without my pirate hat, at the very least!

Ottes4-- I have girls ages 3 and 7! We need to PM back and forth or something to get to know each other. maybe our 7 year olds can send each other some emails or something. What deck are you guys on, we are on 9.

5griffins- I think our rooms are near each other. I can't remember for sure our number and I'm not getting up from my spot on the couch to look, but I think 9528 maybe?

MizDiz-- you are SERIOUSLY cracking me up. You can tell me I'm gorgeous and I'll tell you the same, and we can call ourselves even on FE gifts for each other lol ;)

I need someone to come help me get my house cleaned and put back together. We redecorated the spare bedroom to move my three year old from the nursery into that. Now we are moving crap into the nursery so it can be the spare room/craft room. How can I start working on FE gifts if my craft stuff is spread all over the house! I need my space put back together!! :)

Your welcome Beth!!! Yes I am excited to meet alot of our group too and I will be attending both
as well. Not sure what I am going to wear to pirate nite yet :)

I just pulled my suitcases out to dust, clear out and maybe start sneaking in a little packing:thumbsup2 - hubby says it's too earlier but since he's posted in another state for about 3 weeks what he doesn't know won't hurt him:rotfl2:

Actually he's shocked I haven't done any magnets yet - last cruise I had enough for 2 doors done by now:rotfl:

I do like the name tags and meet times, should be able to make at least one of them.

Melissa, I may take you up on the room viewing, I'm defintely curious about them, tho convincing hubby to give up a balcony is rather unlikely ~
We're getting closer!:cheer2::banana::yay::dance3::cheer2:

Oh Crap! I completely forgot about my magnets!! I saved a ton of backgrounds and clip art months ago but between work, the kids, my dad with alzheimers, and my recent surgery I completely forgot!!!! :confused3 Well I have another whole week off from work during which the kids should be in school. I can finally "lift" the laptop and move it to someplace comfortable (I'm not supposed to lift anything over 5lbs for the next 5 weeks) so I'll have to get on those.

My daughter is 5 - she will LOVE to meet other girls her age in the club. She's a wee bit shy at first, but after 5 minutes she's fine. My son, who is 7, is friendly right from the get go (almost too friendly but that's just him).

Thank you to everyone who voted for my daughter in the Facebook RL Gang contest. Results in a few weeks. In the meantime - she got a contract with one of the big Boston agencies and we took her for a real photo shoot yesterday! She was SO funny! You should have seen her posing .... to the point where the photographer said "wow, she really likes to wiggle her rear end!" :scared1: Problem is, he's right!!! She gets it from dancing school (she's really an innocent 5 but she likes to 'move'). Anyway- it was LOADS of fun, the pics that he let me see in the view screen on his camera were amazing - I could hardly believe that was my daughter!!! So we'll get back a CD in a few weeks. I can't wait!!!!

Anyway........

I just checked our ressie- still have 5pm show with early seating for dinner. I thought I read that DCL is cutting down to 2 shows nightly. Has anyone's ressie changed from a few wks ago in terms of dining / show time?? I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to manage a show at 5 with dinner right after. How long are the shows?? And did I read correctly- has early dining changed from 6 to 5:45?? I feel like this might be too rushed, but I do like to have my after dinner evening 'free' so the kids can go to the club and hubby and I can have some grown up time. Well, what ever it is, it is - can't really change it so might as well go with the flow!!!!! :woohoo:

Hmm -

where do you go to see dining times/show times on the DCL site? I swear I can't access 1/2 the info of my reservation :confused3

When you log onto DCL and retrieve your reservation on the "my reservation" tab that lists all of the people on your cruise, scroll down and look at all of the info. Mixed somewhere into the middle it says "Dining Preference" (or something along those lines) and you'll see it - mine says "main; 5pm show". That means "main" dining, 5pm show time. :)

I just talked to DCL earlier this week and they said that they have changed the show times again. they were doing three shows, now they are trying two shows. So we went from the schedule you mention above to main dining (545p.m.) with an 830 show. The other schedule is a 615ish(?) show with 830 dining I think? Something like that. So I guess we'll see how it goes!

That's wierd because mine still says Main Seating, 9PM show.:confused3

Hmmmm.... :confused3 Maybe they just haven't updated our cruise reservation info yet because we are still 2 months out. Only time will tell!!! Personally, I'm not thrilled with a late show only because I think my kids will be 'toast' by then and not interested. I'd rather put them in the clubs and have my grown up time - maybe we'll pick and choose which shoes we decide to see, rather than try and see all of them.

Hello friends! :)

I was wondering if you knew where I could find that way funny talking trash can in Disney World and where and what times you can find Miss Divine. We missed her the last trip out and have only seen the talking trash can on youtube. lol!

Any ideas?

- Oh! I saw a post a few pages back about suitcases being packed.... um... I have been buying Disney stuff online since September last year and in December started packing my bags... SO! You are NOT alone out there! ha ha ha

Thanks!

Stef:dance3:

Wow - according to DCL's web site there is still a cat 4A AND a concierge room available for our sailing. Wouldn't it be cool to be bumped up to concierge???? Wonder if anyone will book it (it's 10K for 2 adults... WAY above my price tag!!!).

I'm guessing if you post in the WDW section of the boards you might get an answer - I don't even know what or who Miss Devine is!!! :rotfl:(although it does sound a bit familiar!!!)
