DISNEY DREAM 5-nights May 29th, 2011

Hello all,
I got my little notice too....We are the 7PM show and the 8:30 dinning.
I'm OK with that!:thumbsup2

LOVE the video of the finished ship!

TTFNpaw:

Hello everyone! We just booked this cruise--decided to trade in our Alaska one and sail on the Dream. Watching her float out of dry dock on Saturday had me so choked up! Luckily, DH was in close to the same frame of mind.

I'm only up to page 9 reading this thread, but I saw you're keeping a roll call and have something like 60 cabins signed up for FEs!! Holy cow, that's a big group!!! Are you going to split up into teams or do you really plan for everyone to deliver to everyone?

In any case, please add us to both the roll call and the FE list:
CrazyBoutDisney-Beth (59) and DaveH-Dave (56); Northern Virginia; Cabin #TBD (Cat 11B GTY); late dining, but hoping to change; celebrating Dave's 57th birthday (2 months early); Goofy is Dave's fave character, Pooh bear for me.

Are people really filling out the questionnaire?

Hi Beth and Dave.. Welcome aboard :welcome: I'll add you to the roll call tomorrow when I am more awake...lol

Not everyone on the roll call is participating in the FE. Virginia (mommyarewegoingback) is keeping the list for this. I am not sure what the count is up to at this point.

Some are filling out the questionnaire and some aren't. Really up to you and how much you want to share about yourself.

What is a GTY cabin? Also, what is the roll call group and how is it different than the FE group?

A few have done the questioner...It was kind of fun and nice too learn some things about our other cruisers..

I have not signed up for FE yet....:confused3 May not this trip..We have done it before, but this trip I may just kick back and relax...Don't want too worry about doing anything.....:cloud9:

I will participate in the meet and greet.....We had a huge group on our Magic sailing back in 2005 and we were able too do a big group picture. It was a lot of fun. I still have friends from that cruise I talk too on FB.

It is getting closer................:yay:

Hi Virginia,

Unfortunately on the Magic last week a lot of people had their FE gifts stolen. Not sure what can be done about it, but wanted to mention it so we can start thinking of ways to reduce the theft.

With the Dream as big as it is there are going to be a lot more people wandering around the ship with more opportunity to steal (sad to say it even happens on Disney). Many thought it was the teenagers but you never know. It's a shame that something that is supposed to be fun can be dampened by the inconsiderateness of others.

Here is some pixiedust for our cruise.... pixiedust:

Oh no! I hadn't heard that it has been a problem. I guess we'll have to keep an eye on that.

In any case, please add us to both the roll call and the FE list:

I've got you added to the FE list. At the current count, with you, we're at only 25 cabins for the FE. You can check the link at the bottom, in my siggie. Welcome aboard!

And I have filled out the questionnaire several pages back.

Just let me know if you want me to add you. Like I just said, we're only at about 25 cabins right now. I think the consensus is that we keep this easy.

I can't wait until January, to hear the first TR's and pics. I can't wait for May!

Thanks...I will let you know as it gets closer if we want too get in on FE....
25 cabins is not too bad......:goodvibes

Hello everyone!!

Is it May YET???

DH and I are SO excited for this cruise. We really like the 5 day cruises w/ 2 stops at CC. Serenity Bay is paradise to us!
We did the Wonder 5 day 2 CC days last May and it was wonderful! :yay:

I can't wait for the FE gift exchange. I have done 2 already and it is always alot of fun delivering the gifts (and seeing what was in our FE, too!!)

Plus, I love meeting other DIS members! I hope we have a nice, big DIS MEET!! :cheer2:

Wow 25 cabins on the FE list?? I'm thinking 1 gift per cabin- or I'll need a whole other suitcase!

What is a GTY cabin? Also, what is the roll call group and how is it different than the FE group?

A GTY cabin means you are not assigned a cabin until about 30 days before the cruise, some times the week of. You are guaranteed a cabin in the GTY category you paid for, but there is the possibility you could be upgraded to a higher category, never lower. A lot of people don't care where their cabin is and hope for the upgrade. We prefer to pick our cabin since we prefer AFT.

The roll call is just a fun way to see who will be cruising with us, where everyone is from etc.

The FE is a subset of the roll call who will be participating in the gift exchange.

Hope this helps.

Does everyone in the roll call participate in the Meet and Greet? When and where does the meet and greet take place? When are the FE gifts delivered? Is it assigned or is it whenever each person wants to do it? Also, what night do we have the pirate party? Thanks for all the info- it has really been helpful!!

Okay, I just tried to send a PM to get on the FE exchange list but I don't have enough posts to do that so I am going to have to get really obnoxious with my questions so I can PM. If I want to go ahead and start working on my FE gifts, how do I know how many adults, kids, and ages if we don't get the complete list until a couple of weeks before the cruise?

We are booked in 2 catagory 4A cabins 9606 and 9602. Unfortunately, they are not connecting rooms. Does anyone have room 9604 or 9600? It would make my life so much easier to have connecting rooms because we have 5 small children! Anyone want to trade? I am checking the DCL website daily to see if one of these rooms becomes available. Is there anything else I can be doing to get switched?

No, not everyone on the roll call will participate in the FE. Many on the roll call only post a few times and never again. The meet n greet will be worked out once we get closer to the sail date. On our previous Magic cruises it was 3:00 on embarkation day. If we sail at 5:00 the 3:00 time will work since it is prior to the life boat drill. Like I mentioned earlier, we will work this out closer to sail date.

Not sure about pirate night. I have been so focused on our Oct 16th cruise that I hadn't spent much time on this cruise. Now I get to start. My guess would be the sea day, which is Wednesday night.

Virginia checks the boards on a regular basis, so if you can't send a PM she will see your post. The number of gifts will really depend on the number of people signed up. Some cruises have had many participants and the distribution was split into groups to make it easier on the number of the gifts needed. Virginia will work that out once there is a final count and a cut off date for sign up is set.

Whew! Wonder what I was looking at where I counted about 60 cabins participating in the FE?!! Glad to hear I was mistaken, although, there's no telling how many more will sign up over the next 6 months!!! :rotfl:

I'm hoping for a nice big DIS meet and a group picture, too! Making new friends here on the board so great and then being able to put a face to a name makes it so much better!

DH checked out a 5-day navigator from earlier this year and Pirate Night was Tuesday, after Nassau. Can't wait--I love seeing all the neat costumes folks dress up in!!

The FE group will definitely get bigger. With 25 now and we still have a while before the cruise I expect it to grow pretty big.

We will definitely have a meet n greet. :thumbsup2 I agree, it is fun to place a face with the screen name.

I can't believe we have almost 7 moths.... we are trying to plan a winter getaway to the world to break up the gap.

I just got my ME docs and luggage tags for our December trip....:santa: So I am very excited...This is our first time staying at the Poly.....:goodvibes Thank goodness for those 40% off codes.............:thumbsup2

Taking my niece for her Birthday and my Mom and DD will be joining us. I have all kinds of fun surprises planned and none of them know about it.

We are attending the Wishes dessert party and I booked a sleigh ride at FW. I managed too get an ADR for our Epcot day at La Hacienda for 8:30pm to we can watch Illuminations...should be nice.

So these in between trips do help pass the time till we sail on the Dream..:cloud9:

I've added you to the list. But I'll need the names and ages of everyone in your party (you don't have to give me your age if you don't want to :thumbsup2. If you check the link in my siggie it will give you the list of the current cabins. How about after you give me the ages of your kids, I will post a stat on the participants so far (number of cabins, adult females, adult males, girls ages 0-3, girls ages 4-10, girls over age 10 but not classified as adult, boys ages 0-3, boys ages 4-10, boys over age 10 but not classified as adult). Would that work for now?

I think it's DIS (meeting the friends from DIS, seeing their faces onboard, even seeing off the boat, FE's, magnets, shirts ...) that made my family's last cruise so special (and not just another cruise on some other cruise line). I can't wait to meet y'all!

Us too! We're getting ready for our winter getaway to WDW too! I think we have a week or two before we get our wdw docs. I just booked our resort for after the cruise but husband said we can't get too excited for that yet, we still have a christmas trip to get through first. Geesh, booking and planning is half the fun. :rotfl2:

Question.... I booked the Radisson for before the cruise, but was thinking about staying onsite before. We're getting in on Friday, so we have friday night and saturday night. I think my family will be totally itching to get something disney if we have to wait 2 days at port. What's everyone else's plan?
