Disney Dream- 3-10-2011 (3 night)

Merry Christmas future DREAMers, and best wishes for a happy and healthy
New Year.

Hi everyone! We just booked today! We'd been watching, and there were not a lot of bookings left, and DH found one and we just decided to book it!
We will be taking our fourth cruise, third on DCL (two on the Wonder).
We had previously booked a stay at WDW for the 14- 18 (AKV) and now have added a night on 13th at SSR! This is a surprise for our kids.
We had planned a trip to Europe for spring break, but decided to wait as it was so expensive. Not that this is INexpensive, but...

We are not going to tell them at Christmas. Probably not until right before the cruise. My oldest daughter turns 10 on 3/9, and younger turns 8 on 3/24, so this is more a birthday trip for them.
I was able to get a Palo reservation today - so that made me happy. We have never been on our previous cruises.

We did a FE on our last cruise (DEC 09) and just used a Christmas stocking. But, obviously, that will be different this time. I'd love to get in on the exchange.

We are in room 9102.
Sarah will be 10
Paige is 7 (almost 8)

Never to Old - I can PM you any more info if you need it. Just let me know.

I know there is a thread somewhere on the boards with pictures and directions for making a Fish Extender. I may have it saved somewhere. I will look and if I find it, will post for everyone.

I'm happy to answer any questions I can about cruising for the first timers. Nice to "meet" you all!!
I guess I need to add a new ticker!

Hi Everyone!

We just booked this cruise tonight. We are Annette and Amanda (Dsisters). This will be our 10th DCL trip. Our last was the 2010 WBTA.

We would love to be a part of the FE, if it's not too late. We have a GTY, so no stateroom number for us.

We are staying at CBR before the cruise (ESPN the Weekend, Baby!) then going home right after.

I"ll read the entire thread later but just wanted to post tonight to say "hi"

Annette

Welcome aboard Mndisney family. I added you to the FE.

Happy Holidays everyone! Just wanted to let you know that we have added 2 more families to the FE. Complete list can be found on page 5 post number 74. For all of us newbies, just 5 more days til we can book extra magic (excursions, massages, and Palo). Is everyone as excited as I am???? I just got done watching a couple of videos on our ship. It looks beautiful and grand. Talk to everyone soon.

Since we've cruised before, we are allowed to book our Palo/excursions now. So I booked Palo. Problem is, it's only a three night cruise, and being a new ship, I don't want to miss the restaurants and new shows!! I can't figure out what to do. We have a 6:30 Palo on the Nassau day. Right now we are a late dinner (I hope to move that to early - 8:30 is too late for the kids I think). I wish I could get Palo at 5 and then eat again later! Sheesh!! for this reason alone I'd rather have the 4 day cruise!! I know they will be able to rearrange some of the dining things on board, so we will see.

Got to focus on Christmas for a few days, then get back to planning!! I just watched some videos too and it is going to be AMAZING!!!!

Nevertoold - thanks for adding us to the list! Just an idea - if the list gets too big (more than say, 20 rooms) we might consider splitting it in half. Gifts for that many rooms can take up a lot of space if you aren't going really small. Plus it can take some time to deliver. On our last cruise, someone made up a nifty chart/map of where all the rooms are. I wish I knew how she did it. But a list by deck would work as well.

Oh, I found the Fish Extender instructions that I had. I'll just post them here. I did not try this, as I mentioned, we just used a Christmas stocking last time. Hope this helps some of you.

Supplies:

2 yards of fabric (two colors – one yard each)
Double fold bias tape
Dowell Rod
Iron-On Patches
1 Package of Iron-On Interfacing
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew Ultra Hold 7/8 in. hem
1 Package of Heat-n-Bond No Sew 1 Yard
Various Colors of Ribbon

1. Cut fabric to be used as the body of the FE to be 8 in. wide by 58 in. in length. When folded the FE will be 29 in. in length.
2. Cut fabric for the three pockets, cut each pocket 11 in. wide by 12 in. in length. When folded each pocked will be 6 in. in length.
3. On the inside of the FE body piece and each pocket iron on the interfacing. Once cooled completely I ironed on the sheet of Heat-n-Bond cut 8 in. by 29 in. to the inside of the body of the FE.
4. On each of the 3 folded pockets I made pleats so that the pockets were 2 in.-pleat-4 in.-pleat 2 in. To secure the pleats I used the Heat-n-Bond Ultrahold hem. This was done on the cut side so that the top edge would be folded and clean.
5. Next I used the heat-n-bond hem to add 8 in. strips of the double fold bias tape to the bottom of each pocket.
6. Next I lined up the pockets on the body of the FE starting 8 in. from the top and then about 1 in. apart. I market the spots with a pencil and secured the bottom and sides of the pockets using the heat-n-bond hem.
7. Once all cooled. I used the double fold bias tape for the perimeter of the body of the FE which again was secured using the iron on hem.
8. Once cooled I ironed on the patches to each of the pockets.
9. I then folded down the top of the FE about 2 inches and secured to the back of the FE by the iron-on hem creating a little opening to insert the dowel rod.
10. Using the multicolored ribbon I made it long enough so that the FE would hang approximately 7-8 in. from a hanger.
11. For our names I bough iron-on computer paper and printed the names on the computer. Then I cut and surrounded the paper with double fold bias tape attached using the iron-on hem. Finally I ironed on the name piece.

We are doing Palo on the night that we would have been at Animators since that is the same on all the ships. Or at least that is the plan.

How do you know which rotation you have ?

We don't until we get to the ship. If it's not what we want, we go and change it. We have always gotten the rotation that we want. It is easier since we always have late seating dinner time.

Since this is our first time sailing with DCL, I don't want to miss any of the rotational dinners. I was thinking of trying to get a brunch reservation the day we are CC. Unless you think we shouldn't miss eating at CC. We have first seating for dinner, so I don't think we can eat both places. Not enough tummy room.

Anyone have a favorite spa treatment? There is so many to choose from. I will find time for this even if it means giving up Palo.

Hi! We have talked about dividing the rooms if the FE grows. We will have to see what happens after the holidays. If anyone knows how to do a map, please feel free to do it. Otherwise we will all be going on a scavenger hunt.

They don't offer Palo brunch on the three day cruise. Believe me, I wish they did. I would skip Animator's, having done it before, but I think my kids would be bummed to miss it.
Maybe have just dessert at Palo?

Fiddlesticks, I didn't know they didn't do brunch on a 3 day. Can you do just desert at Palos? Guess this makes my decision easier. Hello spa!

Yeah, you can just order dessert, but I'm pretty sure the surcharge still applies. I'm going to try my darndest to find a place to squeeze it in.

Sorry but I've decided not to do the FE exchange afterall. It is alot of fun and I'm sure those that participate will enjoy it !

So please take Gina & Bruce off the FE list. We are looking forward to meeting some of you . It's getting closer !!

Sorry to hear that. But I had to comment - you have those adorable puppies in your avatar! Cavaliers? I have one too.
Plus my in-laws live in the Newport News area.
