Disney Dream- 3-10-2011 (3 night)

Thanks for the welcome!!!! :goodvibes I am so excited. I gave in and told my husband early. ;) I don't think I could have made it to Christmas. But, he is excited about the trip too. I scheduled a character call from Disney for Christmas Day at 9 am to tell my kids the big surprise on the phone. I also bought a countdown clock for like 17 dollars with a cruise theme on it that I am going to wrap up to give to them right after the phone call. Oh I just can't wait for Christmas and the cruise.

What cool ideas. Your kids are going to love it.

Thanks for letting us know about Remy. That is really pricey, I believe we will sit that one out. Since you have sailed before here is my question for you. I want to experience all of the rotational dinning rooms, would you suggest doing Palo for brunch or passing on it until a later cruise? I am hoping that DH will enjoy this cruise so much that he will agree to a longer one on the Fantasy. We have cruised on other lines and our last experience was not pleasant. Not as bad as the carnival ship that is stuck out at sea right now. When he caught that on the news he just gave me one of those looks. I told him that would never happen on a Disney cruise. My friend second that adding that Disney is magical. Maybe he will believe me if I tell him Tinkerbell sprinkled the ship with special pixie dust LOL.

Hi Never to old:

I certainly would suggest having brunch at Palo if you wish to experience all the rotation restaurants for dinner. You'll be glad you did!

I understand your husband's concern but I hope he doesn't let a bad experience on another ship damper his enthusiasm for the Dream. Disney is top rated in the industry and their private island, Castaway Cay, is unlike any
other he has ever experienced on other cruises.

The adult areas on the Magic and Wonder are terrific and I think those areas on the Dream will be even more so. Your husband will enjoy himself so much he (and you) will have a hard time leaving the ship that last morning. Don't worry. I bet he'll be the first to want to go again on a longer Disney cruise!

Best wishes.

I am sure that you are right. I will have to wait til Christmas day for my window to open up for booking Palo.

Never too Old : Could you post the FE list to include ages and M or F

Could someone explain what FE is?

Thanks,
Mike

FE is Fish Extender. There can be one big pocket in it or more depending on how you want to make it.

It's made (often handmade) to hang off the fish holder plaque outside each cabin which is there to leave written messages from staff, etc. when the occupants are not in the room or that come overnight.

Those interested passengers can leave little gifts in other passenger's FE's who have all signed up (like on the DIS Boards here) to join in.

I certainly appreciate any help you can give me with collecting the names for the FE. Maybe I am not doing something right with the PM. If everyone is okay I will directly post all information that I have been sent so far so that everyone can see it. But I do ask that you give me a few days. My father was just admitted to the hospital tonight and I will not have time to go through the PM for awhile. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi! I quickly scanned all of the postings and all of the PM I have received so far in regards to the FE. For the time being I am just posting the dis names of those who have expressed a interest. Please check the list and let me know if I have any mistakes. I know some of us, myself included, are anxious to get started. Well actually I started months ago. Anyway, i will try to get all of the information out that I have such as names, ages and gender just as fast as I can. Forgive any spelling errors. It has been a long day. Vicki

2. Morgtroy
3. jump4joy

If you sent me information for the FE, please resend. I didn't see it in my PM.
Thanks

Yes, you are correct with our FE group. The only thing we need is the cabin #'s , ages of the kids , M or F . IMHO I think we need to split the group if we get more than 20-25 cabins. Also, there needs to be a cutoff date .That helps if folks are making their gifts and also for buying gifts. Like 3-4 weeks before the cruise. A Dis Meet would be fun for everyone to get together. The last time we met in the Promenade Lounge before the drill. Not sure on the DREAM ??

I hope your Dad is feeling better.:flower3:

Hi! I have heard from several people regarding setting a deadline for the FE. The deadline for letting us know if you want to participate in the FE will be February 1, 2011. I will post the dis names and any information that has been provided to me in a separate posting. It has been suggested that we limit the amount of cabins in the group to 20-25. We currently have 7 families participating. So for now we will watch and see how our FE grows. I was also thinking that our group has been fairly quiet. Maybe we should introduce ourselves in a posting so that we can get to know each other a little better before the cruise.

Hi! We live in Lancaster Pa. We have 2 fur kids (cats), named Midnight and Serena. Some of our interests include baseball. We are fans of the Phillies and our local team the Lancaster Barnstormers. We also enjoy live theater. I love going to broadway or seeing plays/musicals in our beautiful historic Fulton Opera House. I don't watch much TV. I usually spend my downtime reading mysteries or romance novels, scrap booking or doing craft projects. Right now I am working on making Alpaca beads. This was suppose to be a easy kid project. Ha, nothing about it has been easy so far. I also enjoy working at my fun jobs that have no paperwork. Over the summer, I work as an usher at the Lancaster Barnstormers ballpark. Sorry guys, I am more into the social aspect then I am into the game. So don't expect me to know names of players or other baseball things LOL. I also work security at our local amusement park, Dutch Wonderland. I have always wanted to be a mascot and they let me do a few times over the off season. I am Duke the purple dragon (my favorite color). It is harder and hotter than I thought it would be. I have a new found appreciation of the characters we love. I tease my husband that my fun jobs are my pre-training jobs for working at Disney when we retire. We actually have a couple at Dutch Wonderland who does that. They are here for the summer and then go to Disney to work over the winter. I enjoy traveling. I like going to new places and meeting new people. My DH is a Harley man. He enjoys riding, computers and working out in the yard. He does a wonderful job and keeps our place looking great.

In 20 days we are heading to Disney. I am most looking forward to dinning in the Castle with Cinderella, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, seeing the lights and the hotels decorated for the holidays. Hmm that is pretty much everything isn't it. Sorry Otimon, we won't be coming to Epcot on this trip. We are only there for 3 days.

I also wanted to thank everyone for the concern they expressed over my father. They have ruled out a heart attack. They are keeping him in the hospital for a few more days of tests.

I hope that other people will take the time to introduce themselves and their families. I am sure that we will be chatting more over the next couple of months.

Think Happy Disney Thoughts

Vicki

Nice to know you, Never. Thank you for letting us into your world.

Sorry you won't make it Epcot while you're here. The Christmas decorations there and at the Studios are already up. I'll take in the Magic Kingdom one day next week to see how theirs are coming along and just to make sure everything will be set up for your visit. :thumbsup2

My husband, daughter and I are all Cast Members at Disney World and have been since moving here from the Chicago area 13 years ago. My husband took early retirement and down we came. They both work full-time and I work on a seasonal basis. I guess you could say Mickey is a big part of our lives and we wouldn't have it any other way. He's been very good to us.

This will be our 16th Disney cruise. If anyone is coming to Disney for the holidays and would like to meet please let me know. Glad to be of help in any way I can.

Best wishes,

Linda

Thanks for letting us get to know you a little better before the cruise. Sorry that we are only there for such a short visit in Dec. Are all the hotels decorated for the holidays? Are there certain ones that we should visit for outstanding decorations?

Vicki

Yes, all the hotels have decorations for the holidays.

I think the resorts are a little slower than the parks in having their decorations up. I know as of yesterday when I walked through, the Yacht & Beach Clubs are not decorated yet. The pastry staff at the Beach Club always have a big carousel (actually goes around) with colorful chocolate horses, gingerbread, and all kinds of sweet goodies to look at in their lobby. See how many Hidden Mickeys you can find!

I can tell you that one hotel not to miss is the Grand Floridian. Aside from the always beautiful lobby at any time of the year, Christmas brings a spectacular huge Gingerbread House which is built in the lobby by the pastry staff. It truly is a wonder to see so be sure to bring your camera. You'll be able to buy Christmas candies and cookies in the Ginegerbread House.

Enjoy your visit.
