Disney double billed me

I made a reservation for the CR about a month back and recently got my credit card statement to find they billed the amounts ($500) twice.

When I rang Disney to let them know the guy checked the system, but could only see one reservation held and not the two exact same amounts withdrawn from my CC account. He said he would pass my info on to the accounts dept. and they could rectify it.

Has anyone had this happen to them and if so how did you get a refund? Does anyone have a direct number to the accounts department?

Many Thanks.

I would call/contact (usually they will tell you it must be in writing) your CC company and tell them you have been charged 2X for this one charge.

"If you think your bill is wrong, or if you need more information on a transaction or bill, write to us on a separate sheet as soon as possible at the address for inquirires shown on the front of this statement. We must hear from you no later than 60 days after we sent you the first bill in which the error or problem occured. You can call Customer Relations, but doing so will not preserve your rights."
Much more on the back of the bill-- it says you do not have to pay the amount in question while they are investigating, etc. and so on...

I am sure Disney will remedy this, HOWEVER, we had a charge greater than we were told for HDDR (for 13 people) and it was sent to accounting. After a MONTH they had not figured it out and it took a DIS member here to point out that it was a $1 increase due to Holiday Pricing. But the Accounting Dept. couldn't think to give us a simple breakdown of the pricing so we could at least ask "Why is it $59.99 instead of $58.99?"

Can't hurt to call your CC company to be smart. If you do not pay the $500, you will probably be charged interest and it wouldn't be your fault.

I agree! I think the CC companies have time limits to dispute items as well. I'm sure Disney will get it cleared up for you, but notifying your CC compnay will give you added protection (just in case).

Good luck!!! :)

Oh - definitely notify your credit card company NOW! Don't wait until Disney figures it out. The credit card company will put a "dispute" tag on the charge and you will not be charged interest on it. That tag will be in your record so any time you call to update them on the situation, they will include more notes until the situation is finally resolved.

This wasn't a credit card but a debit card but something similar happened to us. Our card was charged for over $1K by mistake for a trip we took to Cooperstown with my in-laws. My father-in-law's charge card was supposed to be charged, not our debit card. So we had $1K immediately taken out of our checking account. Our checks started bouncing and we couldn't withdraw any money from the ATM since our balance was negative. I called the bank right away and they stopped the overdraft charges from that point on and once we got the money back, they gave us back all the overdraft charges that were incurred up to when I called them (two days after we got back from the trip).

The key to a problem with a bill is notification. The credit card company can't do a thing until you let them know.

I work with credit cards. Disney may have charged your card once, but a "hiccup" in the line sent it 2x. Call your credit card company. They will handle this for you. I don't think Disney would intentially charge you 2x.

We had a Disney Visa charge 6 times for a $200 deposit - it was crazy...there would be a charge, then a credit, another charge, then credit and on and on

Called Disney billing and they had it reserched - found Disney had no record of billing more than once...in the end it was Disney Visa.... finally cancelled the account.

This happened to us too and after some investigation one of the $500 payments was applied to a different reservation (room only) but still under our name. Apparently when we booked the package we got a whole new reservation number and the room-only reservation payments never got transferred. Is there the possibility that you have more than one reservation number attached to your name and the money is being charged to that?

It happens from time to time. I made my reservation for the Grand Californian and they charged me three times for it-- of course I used my check card so my account was wiped out for over a week and my bank was charging me $25/day overdraft fees.

Me too............Made ressies online for 2 rooms and was charged 3 times. When I called, they said I actually had ended up with 3 reserved rooms for all the same people.

The was EXACTLY what happened to me. But I called my bank right away and was refunded ALL the overdraft fees once everything was taken care of. Fees that happened in the two days after the charge and before I called them (when I found out), and any fees that happened after that as well. Otherwise, we would have lost $200 for someone else's mistake. That was with Bank of America - hopefully you had called your bank immediately and had those charges refunded to you.
