Disney done differently, (BOG dining updates pages 202 and 203)

Anakin had an appointment at 6:30 this morning for some testing, we were out of there by 7 and dh got the idea that we should head to WDW for breakfast. Who am I to refuse?!

We had THE BEST customer service experiences at the TTC!!! The parking attendant was amazingly friendly and vigilent!!

When we entered past the ticket booth area, a cm greeted us and informed us that both the ferry and the monorail were open. He suggested the ferry since it is level for pushing the wheel chair, he said the monorail has a fairly steep ramp that would make pushing a little harder. That was so sweet of him. And if this had been our first trip, that information would have been extremely helpful!! I really do struggle getting Anakin up that ramp.

They had 3 ferries running this morning. We walked right up on the ferry with no wait. We were greeted with smiles and great attitudes by EVERY CM we encountered on the ferry!!

We walked right up to security bag check with only a couple people in front of us. Every table was staffed with security and it was streamlined perfectly! The cm who checked my bag was very thorough and friendly. He gave everyone the tip that the turnstiles to the left had smaller lines.

We headed left as he suggested and there was no wait at all!! In fact, the cm's were outside in front of the turnstiles motioning for guests to come to them. They were all smiling and very friendly!!

Our first stop was the Firehouse to get more Sorcerer's cards. On the way there, dh said this is too good to be true. He said someone's going to be grumpy in there. Nope. He was WRONG!!! The cm's were wonderful in there!! The cm who took care of us did something that NO OTHER cm has done there before for us. As we gave her our key cards, she gave us a pack of cards AND told us which portal each key card had as their first stop! That saved us having to go to the training portal and scanning our key card to find out!!

Dumbo was our next stop. While we have visited the storybook area, we have only gone on the Barnstormer and not Dumbo. I showed Anakin's GAC and was told that there was only 1 queue available at that time. They said just take the wheel chair with you and you'll be instructed what to do.

They weren't joking. As soon as we got into the holding area for Dumbo, a cm came up to us and told us that they could get a special car for him. We opted for a regular Dumbo instead. Dh asked where to park the wheelchair and we were told anywhere the walkway isn't narrow. We noticed each time the ride ends the cars stop at the same place. So I just parked it right by his Dumbo near at the fence. By the time I parked it, I had to walk around the attraction to find an empty Dumbo. I could see Anakin looking frantically for me. I waved like a madman until he found me. He wanted to ride with his Daddy.

Daddy did double time and took pics for me with his phone. I forgot my phone at home. My phone takes much better pics than his. But his phone gets much better reception than mine. So I guess it's an even trade?

Here are some of the pics he took from the queue and the ride:

It sounds like you hit the jackpot with good CMs!! That is always nice. From the pictures I have seen on the boards it looks like the Dumbo in WDW is a lot like the one in Disneyland. I think it is such a cheerful looking ride.

I love the pictures of construction. The construction looks like DCA, I can hardly wait until our November trip because all of the construction is supposed to be done in June so the newness will be over somewhat.

What a difference in cm's! I am glad you got some good ones.

Wow, the expansion is coming a long. I really really am hoping that a lot of it will be done when I go back in the fall. It has me pretty excited. :yay:

It sounds like you had a spectacular day! I am so glad you encountered such nice CMs the whole way.

So, where did you eat for breakfast?

Also, Loooking at your over the wall Dumbo picture - it does't look like they've made much progress at all since we were there almost a month ago. I hope you don't mind that I post a picture on your TR... but it looks like they have done a lot of work on the actual base of the ride, and they are starting to add the Dumbo arms? I wonder if they are just waiting for the parts to come back from being refurbed? And that is why it is taking so long?

Yes, we hit the jackpot! Maybe we should have played the lottery that day too?

Should be excititing to see all those new changes at DCA! Bet the kids are ready to go back?

Would you believe we were only at Disney for a total of about 3 hours? We arrived at the TTC around 8 and were back at our car around 11.

Comparing the 2 pics it doesn't look like much progress was made.

As for our breakfast choice, that's coming up next! Had to wait for dh to send me the pics to download.

Anakin is concerned that I am not telling our tale properly. We didn't head straight to Dumbo after the Firehouse. We headed there AFTER defeating Cruella. We had left off the game mid-game last time and it picked up right where we left off on Main St.

After Dumbo we decided that we would eat "breakfast" at the Columbia Harbour House at 10am when it opened. It was way too early, so we headed to Adventureland to defeat Kronk and Izma.

Again, I sure wish I had my camera with me. The costumes in Fantasyland and Adventureland looked different to me. Much brighter. Did they get new costumes?

Every portal was empty!! It was so nice to just walk up and play! Took alot less time to complete the round too!!

So by now you might be wondering if Columbia Harbour House started serving breakfast? No they didn't but the funnel cake place (Sleepy Hallow) in Liberty Square did. We saw people walking around with the hugest waffle sandwiches. Let me give you a point of reference. You know the Eggo waffles? The waffle of this sandwich was like 4 of them plus all the sandwich fixings inside it. I was tempted to try one, but I really don't like waffles or bread that much.

From Allearsnet.com http://allears.net/menu/menu_sh.htm - Menu Date: March 2012
Waffle Sandwiches - served 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Sweet and Spicy Chicken $6.99
Ham, Prosciutto and Swiss $6.99
Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich $5.99

We arrived at the Columbia Harbour House at 9:55. The times guide said it opened at 10am, but the outside sign said 10:30am. Other people were standing outside the restaurant and nobody was sure about the opening time. We didn't want to stand around for a half an hour, so I went inside and asked if they opened at 10 or 10:30. The cm I asked didn't know and offered to go ask someone.

It opened at 10am and we were invited inside and given a menu to glance over. I actually ordered something different for once. I got the salmon. DH got the shrimp again. And Anakin got his usual, EXCEPT that I ordered grapes as a side instead of yogurt. Ended up having to buy an extra side of yogurt to keep peace. Though he did eat the grapes, he couldn't eat his fries without yogurt because he always eats yogurt with fries there. Oh so hard to change and transition.

I want to thank the powers that be at Disney. Over and over I have posted and commented about the pitiful coleslaw portion. This time, the coleslaw was served in a very small souffle cup (I think a 2 oz souflee cup) with lid rather than a 4oz that made the cole slaw look microscopic. Perhaps it's 1 oz, it's the exact same size as the amount of cocktail sauce they give to dip the shrimp in. Dh said it was still the same 2 bite size of coleslaw, but he felt better that it wasn't hidden in such a large container.

The salmon, coucous, and broccoli was excellent!! I'm so glad I changed my mind from the usual tuna sandwich to this entree.

So this is lunch, right?! What about this talk of breakfast? IF and only IF the Mk had opened at 9am, we were going to head to the Contemporary for breakfast at the Wave if they could take a walk up. Since the MK opened at 8am we headed straight into the park. Once in the park, we decided we weren't too hungry and could wait. I'm so glad we waited, we enjoyed our meals!

For dessert, we checked out the refurbished icecream parlour which now features specialty hot chocolate. We didn't get hotchocolate. Anakin got a kid's cone of vanilla, and dh got a cone of their specialty flavor. The icecream was already melting when they handed it to us, so we asked for a dish and plopped the icecream upside down in it. The specialty flavor was soooo good. It was peanut butter cup!! Yum!

My dd had both the chicken waffle and the nutella waffle on her last trip. She obviously loved the waffles there. I hope to try them myself, but we will see...

Oh yes the kids are excited. In June it will be two years since they were at the parks. I have had two trips since then.

The food looks good and frankly it was a waste of packaging before on the coleslaw. I would be willing to bet that my daughter Kody would eat the chicken like Anakin, but the other two would have had the Nutella and fruit waffle sandwiches. The oldest Kacy would take off the fruit though. She loves Nutella. To her the perfect meal would consist of bacon and Nutella.

What exactly is specialty hot chocolate?

They looked great, but very huge for just one person to eat. Would definately fill you up!

I've never had nutella. Grumpy is allergic to nuts and peanuts so we try not to eat it around him. It was a big treat for us to get the peanut butter cup icecream.

Hahaha! Okay I was picturing it as being flavored. Too bad about Grumpy being allergic to nuts. I am not sure you would want Anakin to have the Nutella either it has cocoa in it. But it is a pleasure.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!!

That's what I thought at first too. I was expecting to read about some kind of caramel flavor or something.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter!!

Thank you! Hope you and your family do too. Also, hope everyone reading who celebrates Easter has a great one!

happy to hear Anakin got some new meds that are helping with his seizures!hope the tests this week will give the info they need!

yay for extra happy CM's! sounds like you had a fun day! and the new monorail is cool!

happy Easter to you all!

Dear Michelle, I just wanted to make sure I stopped in before the 48 hour VEEG and let you know that you are ALL on my heart and I am praying that you are able to receive the news from these tests that you need to best help JJ with his seizures. Praying for Docs with wisdom to interpet these tests and for the two days to speed by. HUGE :grouphug::hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug: for everyone.

I just wanted to stop by and say hi... I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter yesterday! I was really bad about going around to everyone's TRs/PTRs to wish them a Happy Easter - I don't know why - I was on The Dis most of the day anyways.

Oh - and I didn't mean to jump off the face of the earth the other day when we were texting... I just didn't hear your last message come through - and I didn't notice it was there until yesterday afternoon. Sorry about that. (((Hugs))).

So, I just wanted to let you know that I'll be thinking of you and Ani this week... I am praying you get the answers you need, and the answers you get are able to help Ani.

D~

Michelle, I am thinking about you all. I hope that they are able to find what they need to find. Prayers, and thoughts.

I am thinking of you all and praying for Ani... I just wanted you to know that.

Thanks! Posting from the phone so this will be short. We are checked in and he its all hooked up. Posted a pic on facebook. He is loving unlimited time on video games and that he got to eat a chocolate donut with his breakfast. So glad for insurance, otherwise this 2 day test would be $10,000. on the bright side, we now met our family deductible of $5000, right?
