Disney donates $2.5M to Japan for tsunami relief

The Walt Disney Company announced today that it will donate $2.5 million to the American Red Cross to support humanitarian aid efforts related to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Very happy to hear that.

I am also glad they are doing such a good job taking care of the stranded guests who cannot go home, AND taking the time needed to make cartain that all of the attractions and structures in TDL and TDS are safe and sound before reopening the parks. Well done Disney.

I wonder what will happen to the workers at DL Tokyo since they are going to be closed for the next week? Do they get paid?

My guess is that there is a lot of work to be done at the park even though it's not open to guests. Like when the Cruise ships are in dry dock everyone works on cleaning and whatever all over the entire ship, I feel it's the same situation there. Everyone will work together to get the park to state that it can reopen.

That said, I believe there is a lot more to worry about in Japan then the loss of a weeks wages. My family and relatives and their safety would be my highest concern if I were in Japan right now.

I wasn't trying to belittle anything and realize the situation there is horrible and I'm very sad that it happened.

My point was getting things back going again is important psychologically as well as financially. I would hate to see some CM's not getting paid.
