Is it still possible to pre-purchase disney dollars? I would like to pre-order them and give them to my kids as part of their Christmas package.

We have always done Disney dollars as well. This time I ordered GC for each of the boys. I ordered from the Disney Store online and they had a ton to choose from so I got each of the boys their favorite character. They also like the idea of having a card and I think for me it will be easier to keept track of.

I posted this in another Disney Dollars thread, hope it helps those looking to purchase Disney Dollars.

You can order them from Disney.

We ordered ours and received them in about 10 days. Cost of the disney dollars themselves and $15.00 shipping.

Here is a sample letter we used to order our Disney Dollars.

WDW Ticketing
PO Box 10140,
Lake Buena Vista, FL 34736

I am writing to make an order for Disney Dollars. I would like to order the quantities below:
10 – $10 Disney Dollars = $100
20 - $5 Disney Dollars = $100
50 - $1 Disney Dollars = $50
Total = $250
+ Shipping = $15.00

My information is:
{insert name here}
{Street address}
{city, state, zip code}

If you have any questions feel free to call, (555)555-5555

I understand the Check or Money Order is made Payable to WDW Ticketing, for the purchase amount ({insert total here}) plus $14.00 for shipping and handling

Thank you very much

Sincerely,

Wow $15 shipping seems high. The GC were free shipping. I have used the Disney Dollars before and just think the GC will be easier.

When ordering Disney dollars via mail, how do you keep track that Disney has received your letter? Do you get a letter/email confirming that the Disney dollars has been sent?

I don't disagree that $15 shipping is a little high, but we thought it was well worth it.

I just don't think the grandkids get the same level of fun and financial education with the gift cards. When they get to the stores at WDW and have to use some of their Disney Dollars, their "pile" of money gets smaller. We think it is a great beginning of financial learning. They need to watch what they are spending as the week goes on, and their dollars decrease with each purchase.

With the gift card, it is just a piece of plastic to them so they spend until there is no more money, and then ask for more.

Just my humble opinion. :)

I did not receive any notice that they had received my request for the purchase of Disney Dollars, only the package that arrived with the dollars enclosed.

I enjoyed the experience, and it was a relief to get them since going to the Disney stores and asking is a waste of time.

YMMV

I didn't know they were still doing Disney Dollars--I thought it was GC only. Anyway, our local grocery store is selling the GCs in the "Gift Card mall." No shipping, same deal.

Just to let you know Guest Relations and the Information desk at the World of Disney at DTD still sells Disney Dollars so you can still get them in the parks.

I called and ordered DD for our October trip. They only allow you to pay for $50 of DD on one credit card. You can order the dollar amount you want but it has to be split up among your cards. It was a one time $15 delivery charge and they are sent FedEx since they are considered "legal tender."

Don't pay shipping!

I always get Disney Dollars at the Disney Store. Before every trip I always go into the local Disney Store and get each of my kids about $10 worth of Disney Dollars. I did this last February and plan to do it again this year. Just walk in the store an tell them how many Disney $ you want. No shipping charge, no hassle, just CASH! :)

I got Disney Dollars for a wedding gift 15 years ago ( our honeymoon was at Disney) and it was the best present we got! I highly recommend it as a gift !!

you will noy be able to get them at disney stores anymore. According to wdw ticketing- only available at wdw ticketing offices. we have two stores here in my city, and they said the same. Plan to order ahead of time, and pay the hanling fee.

They discountinued them about 2 months ago(oct 16 I think). Their were posts on the boards about this. you can only get them at disneyworld.

I just got off the Phone with our local Disney Store and verified that yes the stores have stopped carrying them. Mail order or at the park is your only options now.:eek:

I was really bummed when I went to the disney store too!! Oh well..I love to give my daughters the disney dollars. I would have spent 100$ on them combined for christmas stocking but instead I only got 10$ gift cards..they just wont' be as excited about the plastic card..When I get to disney, I will buy some disney dollars for them to spend. I did find cut $1 princess Aurora wallets at target to put their gift cards in.:thumbsup2

My kids will also be thrilled to have the plasic GC's to use. Esp. my 8 year old, she will be ecstatic to have her very own credit card, lol.

Well I gave my kids the disney dollars in their "Disney Gift Suprise Bag" for Christmas. They are sper excited to have money they can use in WDW. I hope it will help them get an understanding of what things cost- and select their souvenires carefully.

You canbuy Disney dollars over the phone to WDW ticketing, but only in increments of $50, and there is $15 service fee for each purchase.
Or you can write a letter requesting what you want with a cashier's check.
Or you can purchase them in WDW.

Stores no longer selling.
