Disney Divas Getaway!!

Lunch is over and my brain is starting to stir. Remind yourselves to come to dinner and not breakfast if you ever come this way. :lmao:

I have tried to make the font smaller to no avail. Maybe I will have time to try, try again on Friday. I am booked til then.

See you all later! Hugs, SG

Hi all - just checking in after our Mom's 40th birthday trip 9/25-28. There were four of us (friends since college 20+ years) and we stayed at the Pop Century. I decorated our windows using the adorable clip art that Kristineamb was kind enough to share with me. Unfortunately I don't think we got a single picture of it.

We started off our trip with drinks by the pool (I'm on the left).

and then went to Hollywood Studios for dinner at Mama Melrose's and Fantasmic and had a wonderful day.
100_2269.jpg

We got to do a lot of things that for some reason or another we had skipped in the past. There was about a thirty minute wait for Toy Story Mania which was awesome. We also saw Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid and rode Rockin' Roller Coaster and we didn't even get to the park until 3:00 p.m.!

I had given the girls all hot pink shirts that said "What happens with the girlfriends stays with the girlfriends" and we spent Friday morning at Downtown Disney and then headed off to the Magic Kingdom where Chip tried to run away with one of the girls.
100_2288.jpg

We arrived around 3:00 p.m. and there were no lines! We rode Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear and then went to go have our picture with Mickey in Toontown. The first long line of the day but the CM at the front saw our shirts and gave us a "magical moment" and sent us to the head of the line!
100_2313.jpg

We got pics with both Minnie and Mickey and headed off to see what we could do in a few hours. Believe it or not we hit ten attractions in about three hours (SM, Buzz, Pirates, BTMRR, Philharmagic, HM, Aladdin, IASW, Peter Pan and Mickey's house in Toontown).

Around 6 p.m. we rode the Monorail around to O'hana for LapuLapu's and dinner.
100_2354.jpg

Can you see the hidden Mickey in the windshield? I had arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to our table - it was yummy and the girls were very surprised.
100_2366.jpg

After dinner we went down to the Poly beach for more drinks and to see the electric boat parade and Hallowishes.
100_2389.jpg

After a spectacular fireworks show we rode the monorail around to the Grand Floridian (we skipped drinks there because everyone was watching the debate and it seemed a bit stuffy). Then we went to the Contemporary for Glowtinis at the Blue Wave.
100_2393.jpg

Finally we headed back to the hotel around Midnight because we had to be up early for breakfast with the princesses!

It was a very long night - I got no sleep but this was our big day at Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival! Tinkerbell stopped by in the middle of the night and left us all tiaras and pink tanks that had a crystal slipper and said "if the shoe fits..." We had a 9 a.m. reservation at Akershus and had a great breakfast with Aurora, Jasmine, Snow White and Mulan. We also had our pictures taken with Belle. My big thing about this trip was that I wanted to spend time in each of the countries. Well, we did.
100_2432.jpg

We spent lots of time in each of the countries but also got to ride Test Track, Soarin', Maelstrom, the Land and did Turtle Talk. We even spent some time with characters! I bought ornaments for my Disney Christmas tree in each of the countries. We also ate and drank our way around the F&W Festival.
100_2440.jpg

I have to say that my absolute favorite was the Grand Marnier Slushie in France - yummy! We had an 8 p.m. dinner reservation at LeCellier and they brought us out a chocolate mousse that had Happy Birthday on it. We did miss Illuminations but we were so exhausted at that point we didn't really care.
100_2479.jpg

Our last day - The girls had all bought matching adorable Mickey Halloween shirts + one for me as a thank you for arranging the trip. We decided to go to Animal Kingdom and I sent the girls to see Nemo while I procured us FPs for Expedition Everest. I missed getting into Nemo but I had already seen it before so I wasn't upset. I got to listen to some steel drums outside the theatre and once the show was over we went to ride EE. Well our pictures weren't all together so they gave us another FP so we could get the picture retaken! After EE we rode Dinosaur and by that time we needed to go back to the hotel to catch our ME bus.

It was a fabulous trip and went by so quickly. I really can't believe how much we did in basically two full days and two half days.

Thank you for sharing! :goodvibes
Sounds like a Divalicious trip! :cutie:
See, matching t-shirts are key...so cool you got to go to the head of the line! :cool2:
My DH is even insisting that we have matching shirts for our next trip even though The Years of a Million Dreams will be over...we'll just have to come up with something to celebrate and put it on a t-shirt!

Hi there Julie!

What a marvelous mini Trip Report and the pictures are awesome. I just love being able to put a face to a name. You Texas gals just plain Rock!!!!:cheer2:

I think that matching t shirts with a witty saying are the key to getting Dreams and smiles. Worked on "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make A Deal" also.

Don't cha just love the view from the Poly beach to see the EWP and fireworks? Makes the trip back to the resort worth it. It is our first night tradition but we tour the monorail a few times also. Let's us know that we are truly "HOME"!

SG

We did have a marvelous time. I think the matching shirts are definitely a plus - however, a coworker's cousin saw us at the Magic Kingdom and they wondered what kind of "adventure" we ladies were on while we were wearing our "Girlfriends" shirts, lol.

Precisely why we didn't get that shirt (although I wanted it to say, What Happens At Disney, Stays At Disney!) but the birthday Diva didn't like the connotations...but really what can you do that bad at Disney?!?!? :confused3

Julie and Kristin, I was once on a cruise with a bunch of refunders and we were all wearing matching shirts that said "Moneytalk", a popular refunder's magazine of the time. We traded coupons and refund forms in our staterooms and came up with an idea for listing what we had for sale/trade on posters on our doors. Because of this fact there were others on the ship who thought we might be in a rather interesting profession. What made it so funny was that the vast majority of us were over 40 and not at all armed with such potential.

Some folks just have dirty minds. ;)

As for what bad things you could possibly do at Disney - I have heard of many things but the thing that takes the cake is the wild group who 'broke' POTC!!:scared1: I was not there. (shucks)

Money savers on a cruise? Let me guess you all got a group discount? lol

Hey too bad you missed that POTC ride it was so funny we never heard anything the entire way through, except for thuds from under the boat every time we turned, because we were laughing way too hard. Thank goodness the CM's made sure the other boats with normal guests were way ahead or way behind. I still can't believe the front of the boat took on water when we went down the drop. lol That was one wacked out trip.

Did I tell you about our ride on BTM were the guy in back of us kept screaming like a girl and yelling "Oh God, sweet baby Jesus please save me the train is going to go off the tracks." I thought I was going to pee my pants I laughed so hard.

And all along I thought it was a new water coaster ride.. trying to bit the fun and thrill from Splash Mountain :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Ang, if I had been there too we would still be stuck.:lmao:

BTW, I was thinking that you attract awfully strange people and then I thought again, of me, and had to admit that was right!!!:scared1:

Wonder what the regular folk, not Disneyaholics, think of such goings on? :dance3:

Discounted cruise? :teacher: You underrate me. I got the whole thing, including Tom's fare, for free. :cheer2: Made a few bucks even. I had folks in my cabin, door open, until 3 am some nights. I lent Tom out to the older ladies who wanted an escort. On second thought that does not sound too good. :lmao:

How did you break POTC?!?!? pirate:

Kristin,
We didn't technically break the ride but about Vixie organized for about 20 or so people from the threads, mostly adults, to get together at POTC one night. All of us ate way too much during free dining because we packed into that boat on POTC and as soon as we got out of the que the boat got stuck on the rail. We all were wearing glowing mickey ear headbands and laughing our heads off. The CM told us we needed to rock the boat so it could get on track so we rocked till we finally got it on track. Timmy, Nicole and I were in the back and any time we went through a turn or over a hump we would hear the back of the boat go wack, wack, thunk on the track. The water was about an inch from the top of the boat and we were laughing so hard and talking about how much longer till we started taking on water and sank the boat. The people in front got soaked from the water coming over the front of the boat when we went down the falls and that was when the boat really went thunk in the back. I bet that boat will never be the same again. Wish you could have been there it was a really fun night.
