Disney discounted room only offer on UK-Expedia; ended 31 March.

OP~ Thanks so much for sharing this information! I just booked a quick stay over our school's spring break and saved a bundle. Our room is $45 dollars less expensive per night than the best discount that we could find otherwise, which was an AP offer.

I had to call our credit card company and explain what was going on before and after our first attempt to book. When I got to the checkout page on Expedia, it gave me the option to pay in pounds or dollars. I tried both, and both were denied. We received an email from our credit card company's fraud department and had to call the listed number to straighten things out. The charge went through right after the call, and an Expedia confirmation email was sent out immediately after that.:thumbsup2

Thanks, again. I'll keep you posted about how this all works out. :)

I just booked for 10/25-10/31 pirate room at CBR.

Use code for extra 10% off!

My total (I paid in USD) was $814. Crazy savings!

Yes, even crazier with that extra 10% off code.

We only received the code this morning, so we tried a dummy booking for the same one night in March that we'd already booked and hey presto there's another 10% off, was tempted to rebook.

Do you happen to know if there are similar savings for Disneyland CA? I tried to check but it didn't seem to me that there was much difference, but I may not have been searching correctly.

Hey guys, I'm really thinking I want to just go ahead and book something, but just wanted to ask those who did already, we're there any additional fees? I know you mentioned the credit card fee (have to check ours), but anything else I need to worry about?

Also, did you guys pay in US dollars or pounds? And is there another fee to cancel since they are over seas?

Thanks so much for all this great info!!!

Has anyone booked a rental car through this site? The quote a received would save well over $100.00 for our 8 day stay in Orlando.

Thanks in advance!

Brenda

Can someone point out where to enter the code? I don't see a space for it . . . Thanks!

I booked in USD. No other fees besides what your credit card may charge for foreign transactions.

How do you change the currency to show the price in USD on the expedia uk website on check out?

I can't find it either. I email them asking that they adjust my price for the code. this was their response:

Dear Holly,

Thank you for contacting Expedia.

Our Price Match Guarantee only applies where the details of the bookings are identical.

We have reviewed your booking and compared the details with the quote you received from Expedia.co.uk. Unfortunately, in this case I am unable to find any fare difference.

We are unable to add voucher discount to an existing reservation. The Best Price Guarantee only applies to prices both advertised and available to the general public or on a website directed at consumers in United Kingdom. For example, this does not include rates offered on membership programme websites; corporate discounts or rates; group, charter, rewards programme, incentive, meeting, convention, consolidator or interline prices

These differences mean that the Price Match Guarantee does not apply in this case, and we are confident that the original Expedia price offers you the best value for your trip.

Thank you for choosing Expedia.co.uk,

Kind regards,

Abhinav

So, I guess I need to cancel and rebook with the code. Can anyone tell me where the promo box is... I can't seem to find it either.

Both the options to pay in either pounds or dollars and the box to enter the code are on the checkout page--right around where you enter your credit card number.

The US price shows up after you put your cc info in - the site recognizes that you're using a US card and gives you both prices. I booked my longer trip using US dollars and though it doesn't say there's a fee, it's definitely more expensive than using the GBP rate. The US dollar quote on my second trip was over $30.00 more than my card ended up being charged when I opted to pay in GBP. Of course, I also made sure that my cc company (Capital One) didn't charge a foreign transaction fee. If yours does, you may be better off selecting to pay in US dollars.

Thanks so much !!

I wish I could use that coupon code! Our trip isn't until November!!

Sorry Brenda but unlike hotel bookings, car rental from the UK web site is usually a no-go for US-residents. Checked out the 'Detailed Car Rules and Restrictions' for Alamo, Dollar and Thrifty, see below.......

Dollar Rent A Car rules and restrictions
Rates are not valid for US or Canadian citizens or holders of a US or Canadian Licence.
Please ensure that you have available ID and a valid and full national driver's licence held for a minimum of 1 year (in case of a UK photo-card licence the card and paper counterpart) and that you are at least 21 years of age.

Alamo Rent A Car rules and restrictions
General Rental Conditions
Note: Renters cannot be residents of the United States or Canada. Additionally, Renters must present a valid non-US/non-Canadian driver’s license and a valid non-US/non-Canadian Passport.

Thrifty Car Rental rules and restrictions
Rates are not valid for US or Canadian citizens or holders of a US or Canadian Licence.

I just saw that, but I also looked at Budget Rental and they did not have that same restriction so I went ahead and booked the Budget rental, it was priced higher. I hope it turns out ok. Do you think I should call budget and ask, I am a tad bit concerned. I am curious to hear what others think...:)

I just want to thank you guys for all the information I found on this thread :thumbsup2

After much consideration, and after seeing the additional rebate with the FABFEB10 code, I cancelled our reservation at the ASMu (we need a family suite) made with WDW and I re-booked with Expedia uk for a savings of almost 600$ for our 9 nights in August :cool1:

I'm done waiting and hoping for either a general public offer or a pin code that won't happen ;) I just made my special offer :yay:

Now, I just need to wait for my official WDW confirmation and link everything on MDE, and thanks to you guys, I know I just need to wait a few days, I won't get all nervous :good vibes

Thanks again!

Yes, Budget rules are certainly different as that restriction is not mentioned and they also quote 'Renters from outside the US must also present a return airline ticket' which indicates they're allowing renter's from within the US.

I would certainly question this by email to UK-Expedia and if they agree that it's okay I would print both the Expedia response and the T&C's and take it with me. Good luck.

Has everyone checked the conversion rate that they are getting from their credit cards? I used my Chase Sapphire Visa (double points on travel) and was charged $977 (US dollars) for a reservation that is 592 British pounds. This is more than $100 more than I expected from the on-line conversion rates. It's still a good deal compared to the U.S. sites, just not quite as good a deal as i was expecting.

Any other conversion-rate experiences?

Using xe.com the rate is around $972 so that seems pretty close. Chase does charge a foreign transaction fee though (3%).
