Disney discounted room only offer on UK-Expedia; ended 31 March.

Does anyone know if DV does charge a foreign transaction fee? I only have that and Chase Freedom as my cc and would like to earn some points when I book my hotel.

Soooo close to booking our stay in March. I just need to not get charged any fees. :scared:

It appears the Chase Disney Visa does charge a foreign transaction fee. If you look on the website you can find a list of cards that don't charge.

I ended up charging to Paypal, which had a slightly worse conversion rate and using my Discover Card which does not have a foreign transaction fee. Hoping the rate stays down. I saved $25 for the 1 night my DD and I are staying before we check into DVC.

Thanks OP!

Did you guys consider checking out cheap tickets website? Use the promo code lucky25 to get an additional savings. When I priced out my nights it was a great deal!!! No worrying about international fees etc!! (That is if you're in the US)

I looked up our dates and it looks like we can save $700 on the week we currently have booked at the rack rate through WDW Travel. My only issue is the foreign currency transaction fees. I only have 2 cc's, my Disney Visa and another, both of which have foreign transaction fees. Since I won't cancel my WDWT reservation (in case of free dining!), I don't want to risk getting dinged with the fee twice (once for booking, once for cancelling). Pondering...

You'd only get charged once, for booking. You just won't get it back if you cancel.

I just wanted to post my update in the event it will help someone.
I booked our room only reservation last Firiday (01/24). After I completed the booking when I looked up my itinerary the reservation showed as "Booked." Based on other posters saying it took a couple of days to get their Disney confirmation #, I patiently waited.
Yesterday (01/28) I checked my itinerary and "Booked" had changed to "Confirmed" and my 12 digit Disney confirmation number was there.
I had no issues linking the resevation to MDE and I also booked the Magical Express. Based on the foreign exchange I saved just over $700 Cdn. for our 10 night trip.
My only "hiccup" is that my reservation shows that I requested a room with a king bed and I am 99% certain I selected the option for 2 queen beds. I am not too concerned about this though. I'm certain Disney will see there are 4 people on the reservation and assign us a room accordingly.
So glad I found this thread. Thanks so much OP.:goodvibes

Great news on the saving and the follow-up Disney reservation number, did Expedia customer support ever get back to you with the possible king-bed issue? And have you been tempted to check your dates on CheapTickets with the promo code which purpledisneyprncess posted above, we've just been checking and some dates look cheaper while others are not. And many thanks for posting your experience for others.

I haven't heard back from Expedia about the king bed issue. I did send them an email on the 25th but no response yet.
No, I didn't check CheapTickets. I am thrilled with the price from Expedia so I'm not going to continue looking for any further deals. Thanks again for posting the info.:)

For my dates- April 5-9 - 4 nights Garden view- Yacht Club

On WDW site with 30% promo- $1617
Cheaptickets.com- $1301
Expedia UK- $1064

Interestingly, I had also sent a request to the magical vacations travel agency that was mentioned on the discount codes sub-board. Their website claims an "agency only" discount for my dates that is exactly the same as chesptickets.com

I just wanted to come back to this thread to say that I was able to get my Disney confirmation number by emailing Expedia's customer service. The first email response came within just a couple hours of my first contact with them but they were unable to reach Disney at the time. It took another 3 days for the second email with my Disney confirmation number to arrive. I checked it MDE and it worked. I was able to add the second person on my reservation through MDE.

You'd only get charged once, for booking. You just won't get it back if you cancel.
Not only will the PP forfeit the foreign transaction fee that she already paid, should she cancel, she will also pay another foreign transaction fee to process the refunded money. The refund will be in British pounds.

Many thanks ProudMommyof2 and Marionnette for updating your experience,:thumbsup2 it all helps others and especially when there could be savings of a few hundred dollars.

And many thanks purpledisneyprncess for the heads-up on the Cheap Tickets web-site and promo code 'Lucky25'.

In reading this thread and doing some research for my own dates in October, I find some of the savings amazingly awesome!!! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I wish I had the extra money right now to book, as i'm assuming expedia you need to pay in full -- Disney US site is just a deposit.

I've found 3 nights POP and Art to be about $100.00 savings.
CBR is about $200.00
AKL is about $500.00 difference
and OKW is almost 50% off with a $620 savings….

That's with the conversion into US dollars, not including the credit card fee which i know that my bank, Bank of America, charges.

Wow!!!

I wanted to come back and say the Expedia has responded to my email inquiry about the king bed issue. They said they have updated the request through Disney and I can see the comments requesting 2 queen beds in my itinerary. I must say I have been very impressed with their customer service.

Well, decided to book. Was really on the fence... I'm guessing that this rate will be offered by Disney directly late Spring but why wait and take the chance. The only thing that kept me from booking was the dining plan. I love it for the convenience and the ability to prepay but I think I'll set that $ aside on a gift card. Paying upfront (with the dining plan) seems easier/nicer to me because I hate seeing the prices. I know that doesn't make much sense but somehow it employers me not to worry on vacation about the expense. popcorn::

I assume you can't add the dining plan after you book this through Disney???

This is what I booked:
September 20-26 (6 nights)
$476.96 or $79.49 per night
All Star Sports- preferred room

I just booked for 10/25-10/31 pirate room at CBR.

Use code FABFEB10 for extra 10% off!

My total (I paid in USD) was $814. Crazy savings!

No, you cannot add the dining plan.

Thanks for the heads up! The rate for our dates in October for the BC is stupid low right now--$212 per night, tax inclusive. I think that's less than we're paying at POR.

Don't forget, Expedia UK has a price guarantee - they'll refund the difference if you find a cheaper price at any time before your trip, even if the lower price is on their site. Between that and the cancelation policy, I'm very happy I found this thread and cancelled my original reservations!

Have you done it? If you find a better price do you call them?

Have you done it? If you find a better price do you call them?

I haven't had to yet - nothing has compared to these prices. But I still have almost 9 months until my longer trip so I will be watching! From the website:

Hotel Only Bookings:
If you book and pay for a hotel room on Expedia.co.uk and later find a lower rate for your hotel room on our site or another site just let us know and we'll refund the difference to you. It's that easy.
For hotel bookings, unlike some other sites, we don't just give you 24 hours from the date you book your hotel. If you find a lower price any time up to 48 hours pre check in just let us know and we'll match the price - so it doesn't matter if you find a lower price 3 hours or 3 months after you book, our Hotel Best Price Guarantee still applies.
Of course, the lower price you find needs to be like for like - the same hotel, dates, length of stay, rate plan, room type, and include all taxes and fees - but it really is that simple.
Submitting a Claim – To be eligible for the Best Price Guarantee you need to submit your request using the Best Price Guarantee form 48 hours pre-check or within 48 hours of booking if claiming for a Flight+Hotel.
