Disney Dining Plan

We are looking into using the Disney Dining Plan. We've never used it and I don't know much about it. We have 5 kids ages 12,9,6,6,&2. My main concern is when my kids want snacks,they snack alot,I want to make sure we have enough food. I was reading the different plans they offer and from my understanding it allows two snacks plus each meal. I also heard from someone that Disney offers grocery shopping? You can have the items delivered to your room..? We aren't 100% sure we will be able to stay on property yet but if we do we aren't going to rent a van and just use all their transportation, so we wouldn't have a way to go to the grocery store but the I'm worried the dining plan won't offer enough food. And I can't find any price info either...Thanks

The cost of the Disney Dining Plan is $51.54 to $53.54 per night per adult (10 and older), and $15.02 to $16.02 per child (3 – 9).

It includes:

• One table service meal
• One counter service meal
• One snack
• One resort refillable resort mug per person per stay

This is honestly more than enough food. PLENTY actually. We always go with this plan and its been wonderful. Many times i'd give my son my snack credit cause he also loves to snack, and i dont necessarily have to snack, so i just give it to him. It works out. If your worried about snacks, you might want to consider bringing some from home. Thats what i do. I bring popcorn (there are microwaves in the food court), chips, granola bars etc.

Garden Grocer is the place to call if you want groceries delivered to your room. They have a website. I heard theyre wonderful. I believe they do deliver it to your room, but if your not there they will leave it with concierge.

Also, .not sure when u r planning on visiting but if u do go during food &wine festival, I highly recommend using some snack credits at the kiosks in epcots w.s. those sometimes cost 5-6 bucks. So you can definitely get more bang for your buck.

When we left we actually had 16 snack credits left, and changed them into bags of candy. Again not sure if this is still allowed or not. But it ended up being alot of food.

Did u have the quick service dining plan? The reg. Dining plan has 1 table ser. 1 quick serv. 1 snack and this year includes refillable mug.

We had the regular dining plan last year, minus the refillable mug. They let us grab a snack and drink with every meal we had??? We had 2 kids meals left, they turned those into 4 snack credits, and added them to our extra 16 we had. So we traded them for 20 bags of candy Still have them sitting in our pantry.

You must stay on site at a Disney operated resort. even annual pass holders can't get a dining plan staying offsite.

If you had the quick service plan, it came with 2 snacks per day last year, now it's only 1 per day.

The regular DDP is part of a Magic Your Way Package. You must stay at a Disney resort, buy at least 2 days of park tickets, and everyone in the room must be on the plan for each night of your stay.
It includes 1 Quick Service, 1 Table Service (entree and dessert) and 1 Snack per person per night of your stay. It also includes a resort refillable mug with unlimited refills at your resort for the length of your stay.
It is plenty of food.
We use wegoshop.com to deliver food directly to our room.
We buy breakfast foods, juice, water, soda, beer, wine and snacks for the room. We believe we save the delivery fee over just the cost of bottled water at Disney. I highly recommend them.
We eat breakfast in the room in the morning, A QS lunch which could include a burger, fries, drink and dessert, and a sitdown TS meal each evening.
It is plenty of food.
Your 2 year old would be free and could share with the others, or you could buy a kids meal and pay out of pocket for that.
You need to make ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) well in advance for the popular In Park and Resort restaurants. Being on the DDP does not guarantee that the restauarnt that you are hoping to eat at will be available. The ADR window for reservations opens 180 days in advance.

Only the deluxe plan now offers 2 snacks per night, unless you're British. The UK quick service plan still has 2 snacks per night. Don't know why it's done that way, but it's been confirmed.

We like the DDP. I especially think it is a good value for kids under 10. My kids always want snacks. I got to say yes and not worry about it. We had plenty of food and left over snack credits to take candy/Mickey rice crispies home with us to keep the magic going a little while longer.

Thank you for all the great information everyone!! This will help us so much! We plan on doing at least one character meal. Can I use the any dining plan credits towards those meals? We aren't going until next May. My MIL owns a timeshare that we usually use but her exchange company doesn't trade w/ Disney anymore. DH and I offered to pay to have her switch to one that does I know she loves Disney too so we're hoping she takes our offer! If it all works out our room will have a kitchen. Do you think it's better to do the dining plan or get groceries from the Garden Grocer?
