I'm a DVC member who is planning a large family reunion in November. We have 28 people in several villas at the BW. Everyone wants the plan for 10 days so that is not a problem. However two people in my party are only coming down for 5 days and must return home. Do you have to pay the extra 5 days for them even though they check out early? I know everyone must get the plan for their full stay but what if their full stay is different?

Everyone on the reservation must be on the plan for the full length of the reservation. You've got two options.

1) Set up the reservation so that one is only for 5 days. (So you book the villa for Bob, Mary, June and Wally for 5 days, then a second reservation for June and Wally for the next 5 days, and have the reservations linked).

2) Just go ahead and pay for everyone for the full 10 days, and have the extra 10(5x2) days worth of extra credits to split among everyone else.

I was thinking since both people are staying for 5 days, I could list one person in a room with our friends who aren't on the dining plan and then split a full 10day meal plan between two people. My family really wants the dining plan but paying for an extra 10days that no one will use defeats the purpose of the plan. We aren't really big eaters. I've heard its alot of food, much more than most people can eat without gaining 5lbs on vacation. Since the plan is assigned to the room and you can use your credits anyway you want ,would this work for us. I can't link reservations for a split stay because I just called day by day to get grand villa and all boardwalk view rooms. I'm sure they are long gone by now to change this arrangement. I wish everyone could stay the whole time but work commitments prevent it for some. If I get the DDE card instead for my Villa will I save about the same amount as being on the dining plan?

Another question if my hubby and I both get the DDE card and everyone else gets the PLAN can we put all drinks and extra's on my bill to get 20% off. I know the card allows each card holder 10 people and we would have two cards so at least 20 people could get a discount on their alcoholic beverages. Just trying to keep the mouse from emptying my wallet.

That is explicitly not permitted. Sorry.

We're still waiting for news about how Disney will enforce that rule. What we do know is that CMs will compare the number of diners at a table to the number of people on the Dining Plan(s), and not allow guests to cover more meals with Dining Plan credits than there are people on the Dining Plan(s).

Regardless, the rules indicate that Dining Plan credits can only be used for the specifically named guests on the reservation, in your case, the 27 names you planned to register.
