I was on dvcmember.com last night and read the announcement about the dining plan for DVC members. I was very excited about this, as non-DVC friends traveled with us in 11/05 and they loved it. Question: Does anyone know how much it costs? While the site described what it included, how it works, etc. there was no $$ information. Maybe I missed it, but I figured someone here could help me!!

Thanks!

I noticed the same thing and also just did a search on the WDW site and find no mention of cost at all.

Hopefully someone out there knows the $.

Wanted to hear info on this as well. Will actually be travelling to the world in Feb and might be interested in buying into this.

Also, wanted to give a shout out to another West Orange resident.

It was about $35 per adult per day for the length of stay, and $10 per child. They just upped it about $2-3 for each. According to a cast member, they are offering the plan to DVC members as of Jan 3, 2006, BUT we can not use the plan until April (I think). This just does not sound right to me and I was going to call Member Services today to find out if this is the case for sure. We are going to WDW late January and so the April start date would not work for us. I will let you know what I find out. :wave2:

Edited to add........Yup. It only can be used for reservations for after April 1. Bummer.

It's $37.99 (maybe $38.99/adult 10 yo +) and $11.99/child 3-9)..I maybe off by a dollar, but if you do a search on the DVC planning board you'll find it. It can be booked as of today, but only for travel after April 1, 2006, you have to buy the plan for every person (unless they are 2 or younger) staying in your room and for the duration of your stay. You can add it on until like 5 days prior to your stay. You pay for it when you check in.

$37.99??? If I spent that much per day on food at WDW, I'd come home looking like some of the other porkers I see in the Parks!!!!!!!! :cool1:
Would have to get out my Lard Ashe jeans.

Man! What a hateful and judgemental remark!

I mean if you are DVC and are not staying on the points, can you still purchase the Dinning PLan using your DVC card?

You must be staying at a DVC resort on a ressie made through Member Services.

Ouch. :rolleyes1

I asked today and it is 37.99 for adults and I think 10.99 for the kids. That is the number I rattled off for the kids and she said yes.

You must also be staying at a DVC resort, it doesn't work if you are staying on points at any of the Disney collection resorts.

Funny, I was thinking just the opposite. Only $37.99 to be able to eat at your choice of WDW restaurants sounds like a pretty good deal to me. That includes appetizer, entree, and dessert for each person.

Last time we were at WDW we weren't yet DVC members, but we did buy the Dining Plan. We had some really amazing meals at a lot of restaurants that we wouldn't have gone to otherwise.

Just like DVC - even though you're still paying for it, the fact that you've pre-paid it makes it feel like it's free.

I agree. I don't mean to turn this thread around, but I think it needs to be said that that comment was very mean. No-one in my family has a bit of weight problem, so I'm not taking this personally. I just think it's very rude to say something like that. I never even notice the sizes of people I meet in Disney.

JCT, If you are spending even one moment of your vacation time scrutinizing the weight of people, you are not spending your time wisely. And if you don't like the meal plan's value, just say that instead of insulting others.

Obviously, you don't eat at the parks at all, a burger and fries for lunch, and a sit down dinner would run you over the 37.99 a day....so, your comment was uncalled for, and just goes to show everyone here you really don't eat at Disney, or you'd know that $37.99 for a days worth of meals is very inexpensive....try eating at LeCellier, Chef's de France, Tony's Town Square, Liberty Tree Tavern, L'Originale Alfredo's de Roma.

hit the reply button twice I was so aggitated by your remarks. By the way I'm 5'4", and weight 125lbs.....DH is 5'5"and 130lbs....so no, you don't have to get out those jeans you were speaking about....

I happen to have a weight problem. I usually end up eating a lot less than the Skinny people around me. A friend of mine at work when we go to a chinese Buffet he gets 4 helpings I eat one plate. And no it's not overflowing. We have about the Same activity level and I am and have been for a quite a while a weight lifting program.

Tell you what I'd rather be fat and nice.

A friendly reminder to everyone....this thread is to discuss the Dining Plan...please stay on topic.

We are renting points again this year and very excited about the plan. Does anyone know if DVC renters can get the meal plan as well? We stayed on the meal plan last year when we went for vacation. We have two small children (5 and 3) and plan was so worth it. We were able to do a character meal everyday!!!! No waiting in line to see and get autographs just used the meal plan. It includes tax and gratuity. At the Castle alone for lunch our bill ran over $120 dollars for one meal. The plan for the day cost $100 . So infact the meal plan paid for the castle dinner plus a nice counter service meal later on in the day. MOre food than you probably could eat. :Pinkbounc

I read a post from another renter and they said they were allowed to book the plan as a renter.

It has been reported in another thread that renters are eligible. It was reported in the same thread that the renter (usually they call Member Services to verify the ressie) can book the plan themselves...or you can have the member you're renting from book it. You pay for it at check-in, but you must notify MS if you want it so it can be linked into the ressie before you arrive.
