Disney Dining Plan Calculator Planning Tool

This is a great tool but it's not calculating the TS credits accurately for me. I put in my choices for a 7 night stay and using 7 TS credits total and it's telling me that I still have 4 TS credits left :confused3. It calculated my CS credits correctly though.

If you go to the site and set up your vacation and use the Feedback link at the bottom to drop us a note we can look at it to see what the issue is. When you send us feedback your dining choices are included in the email we receive.

Thanks.

This is definitely a great tool! There were a few places that we were thinking about for our trip that weren't listed in QS, but I made it work with a similar location in the same park. It's definitely easier and faster than looking at all the menus and calculating prices like I've been doing!!!

OK.... so I went back in today and replugged my information. All the credits are now subtracting correctly & here's where I stand:

If I paid OOP for everything (no DP) = $1682.71
With the DP = $1794.69 ($111.98 more)

BUT...here's where the variables are in my scenario:
It states that the DP cost me $1642.48 b/c it is figuring the new price of the DP, however, the DP didn't cost me that much because I was locked into the old price before the price increase so for my family the DP cost was actually $1556.52 (I booked a FD BB offer from last year). Even though I have a FD offer, I always calculate the DP cost b/c I compare paying rack rate in order to get it vs. using a R/O discount :). So right off the bat, using the DP will save me "some money", $85.96 not a lot, but still "some". Now, as I look at some of the calculations for total meal cost, that is where I see that my savings will increase as some of the estimates are off by about $10 (based on what I know we've spent in the past) but a lot of the estimates (TS) were pretty much close to what I had figured.

For the heck of it, I also did some quick calculations for an Oct. trip I have planned for just DH & I. We were not planning to use the DP at all for that trip but started second guessing ourselves when the latest FD offer came out last week. After putting my info in for that trip, I confirmed that going OOP will be the way to go as we are touring & eating completely different. Plus with any luck we are going to upgrade to A/P's in a couple of weeks and getting the TIW card to use for that trip.

Overall, I think this is the BEST planning tool I've seen so far and the easiest to use :thumbsup2.

This is a great tool, thanks! I knew we'd pay less OOP with a RO CL stay (and no DP), but I had no idea how much!

I love this calculator. I did book my vacation with the DDP and have been struggling to figure out if it was worth it. I used the calculator and yes the DDP was worth it for us!

Thanks for posting:disrocks:

This is amazing! DDP wasn't worth it for us last trip because DS was 2 but I used this for our next trip and we will save a few cents even if we wouldn't have ordered dessert at every meal (and realistically, we will order dessert at TS, just not QS) I wish WDW offered an extra snack or appetizer option instead of all the desserts (everyone says that, I know). Thanks for this great tool!

I LOVE data and spreadsheets, so I'm quite impressed with this. THANKS!

By my very loose estimations, I always thought that at this specific time in our lives (kids ages, interests, touring style, etc.) that the Disney Deluxe Dining plan was a fair deal for us, despite all the naysayers of the dining plans.

According to your calculator (drum roll, please)...it says we are going to SAVING a whopping $601.81 on the Deluxe plan!

Now, one could argue we really don't NEED this many table service meals, refillable mugs, BOTH apps AND desserts per meal...Yes, it's a bit over the top, but it makes me & DH really happy to spoil ourselves with meals and nicer restaurants when we vacation. A lot of Disney activities are very kid centered, obviously, but the meal plan is something we do for US.

So, here's what our particular situation looks like that makes the DDxDP a savings for us...

2 Disney kids that are in the sweet spot for lots of character meals (DS 4, DD7).

We prefer not to go back to the room for breaks/rest (especially since we're at a Moderate and not a Deluxe monorail hotel this time), so meal times are for resting/relaxing/cooling off, which makes table service a nice option.

The days we have 3 meals booked are a little crazy, I admit, but I'm just going to go with it and enjoy.

We booked ADRs for the following for our 6 night stay:

Lunch: Tony's Town Square
Dinner: Liberty Tree Tavern

Breakfast: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Lunch: Teppan Edo
Dinner: Le Cellier

Lunch: The Wave of American Flavors
Dinner: Ohana

Lunch: 50s Prime Time Café
Dinner: Mama Melrose's Fantasmic! Dinner Package

Breakfast: Tusker House
Lunch: Yak and Yeti
Dinner: Hoop Dee Doo Review Category 1 (8:30)

Lunch: Cinderella's Royal Table
Dinner: Be Our Guest

Breakfast: Crystal Palace

So, even though the meal plan isn't necessarily about savings for us (we like the convenience and not thinking about money when ordering), it seems to work out for our family at this particular time. Although, DD will be a Disney adult next time we go, so that may be a different story.

***Also, thanks for providing a TIP estimate in the OOP - it's close to what I estimated when calculating our budget, so that's good.
