I LOVE data and spreadsheets, so I'm quite impressed with this. THANKS!
By my very loose estimations, I always thought that at this specific time in our lives (kids ages, interests, touring style, etc.) that the Disney Deluxe Dining plan was a fair deal for us, despite all the naysayers of the dining plans.
According to your calculator (drum roll, please)...it says we are going to SAVING a whopping $601.81 on the Deluxe plan!
Now, one could argue we really don't NEED this many table service meals, refillable mugs, BOTH apps AND desserts per meal...Yes, it's a bit over the top, but it makes me & DH really happy to spoil ourselves with meals and nicer restaurants when we vacation. A lot of Disney activities are very kid centered, obviously, but the meal plan is something we do for US.
So, here's what our particular situation looks like that makes the DDxDP a savings for us...
2 Disney kids that are in the sweet spot for lots of character meals (DS 4, DD7).
We prefer not to go back to the room for breaks/rest (especially since we're at a Moderate and not a Deluxe monorail hotel this time), so meal times are for resting/relaxing/cooling off, which makes table service a nice option.
The days we have 3 meals booked are a little crazy, I admit, but I'm just going to go with it and enjoy.
We booked ADRs for the following for our 6 night stay:
Lunch: Tony's Town Square
Dinner: Liberty Tree Tavern
Breakfast: Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Lunch: Teppan Edo
Dinner: Le Cellier
Lunch: The Wave of American Flavors
Dinner: Ohana
Lunch: 50s Prime Time Café
Dinner: Mama Melrose's Fantasmic! Dinner Package
Breakfast: Tusker House
Lunch: Yak and Yeti
Dinner: Hoop Dee Doo Review Category 1 (8:30)
Lunch: Cinderella's Royal Table
Dinner: Be Our Guest
Breakfast: Crystal Palace
So, even though the meal plan isn't necessarily about savings for us (we like the convenience and not thinking about money when ordering), it seems to work out for our family at this particular time. Although, DD will be a Disney adult next time we go, so that may be a different story.
***Also, thanks for providing a TIP estimate in the OOP - it's close to what I estimated when calculating our budget, so that's good.
