disney dining help

can anybody tell me , i want to book flights and hotel seperate, was going to book my in resort disney hotel with hotels .com, but have read on other sites you can have free quick snack dining plan with this hotel , would i get this free dining plan if i booked my hotel with hotels ,com not sure how this works,or do i have to book through a disney resort website help

I beleive that you woul dneed to book your hotel with a Disney affiliated travel agency such as Dreams Unlimited, AAA or Disney itself. The way the dining plan works is that you will get free quick service if staying at a value resort and free plus dining if booking at a moderate resort.

In order to get the dining plan (free or otherwise) you have to book directly with Walt Disney or a travel agent and you have to book a Magic Your Way package, which includes the Resort and a minimum of 2 day tickets for each member of your party. You will be paying full rack rate for the room.

Hotels.com only sells the room portion as far as I know so you would not be able to get the Dining plan at all if you book through them.

Booking your air separately is not a problem. You can book air through whomever you want. But if you want free dining you must book a room and ticket package.

I always book my hotel with Disney online or by phone; airline direct; and car rental direct. Works well for me.

No dining plan available when booking through third party reservation brokers like hotels.com.

This is considered a room only reservation and not a MYW package. You can get a dining plan only with a MYW package. You can get free dining only with a full price MYW package including at least two-day park tickets for everyone on the reservation. You don't have to book flights with the package.

I'm glad to see someone else shares my dilemma. I went with the sure-thing 40% off on hotel, but have been second-guessing myself ever since.

We're usually a pack-some-cereal-bars-for-breakfast-and-go sort of family and I really don't want to be committed to a pre-determined #/meals for the visit (and feel like I HAVE to have them to get my $'s worth.) Still, I'm wondering if the room-only discount was the best way to go.

Anyone else choose this option and why? Were you happy with your choice?

I went with the free DDP at POP (QSDP). One reason is only part of our trip was within the window for 30% off. Our trip ended up being 9/27 to 10/4 and the discount ended on 9/30. I looked at the price difference and decided it was worth it for us to get the free DDP. Plus I have really gotten used to not having to buy food while we are there! I love being able to let DD11 get whatever she wants without thinking of the cost.

This year we will have 42 CS and 42 Snacks to use between the 3 of us. This should be interesting since when we only got 1 snack and 1 CS a day we ended up with extras at the end. I see a lot of snacks coming home with us. This time I will not wait until the last day to use up our SC, I promise!
