Disney Dining Package For A Group?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a Disboards newbie, maybe you ole timers can help me with Dining questions.

We are going May 2009 and there are 16 of us. This includes 6 children ranging in age from 2 to 11. Most of the 16 have NEVER been to DW before. Do you think it's worth it for everyone to purchase the Dining Plan and if some buy it can others in the group decline it? We are staying in the villas so we will have access to a kitchen. Some of us in the group are frugal while others think money is no object.

How do we go about enjoying Disney and not killing each other over huge checks at each meal?? Splitting up for dinners will not be an option. We will be there just 4 nights and would like at least one character meal and one dinner show.

Also, is the Wine & Dine worth it? Some in the group like to drink, drink, drink:dance3:

Thanks for any and all tips!

Every family is different with it comes to DDP. Dh and I like the table service meals so last year we wasted a lot of CS credits. Plus we get the DDE with our AP. The DDP must be purchased by every one in the room/villa. Last year my sister and her family and my parents shared a 2 bedroom villa at BC. They all had to purchase the DDP if one person wanted it. But you can have one villa on DDP and one villa not on ddp.

Also we travel with 8-14 people and never had a problem splitting the bill up. We always tell the waiter or waitress up front that we will need separate bills. Just know that if there are 2 families in one villa that they will only be allowed to place one credit card for the KTTW room charge. My sister last year had to pay for meals with her own credit card since my dad had his connected to the room charge.

The same poster has posted an identical thread on the Dining Plan board, which is where it really belongs, so I am closing this one.
