First of all, let me just say that I love these boards! You guys have helped so much in planning my trip! I'm in college and going to WDW with my DBf and this is my first time planning a real trip by myself, without my family... So thanks for everything!! :goodvibes

Now... we are going March 21st-30th. We are debating on getting the DDE card because we don't normally eat at resturants. We do a lot of counter service food. (and junk!! :mickeybar ) But this upcomming trip is kind of special, and we have a few PS's for resturants(at least 2 that apply to the DDE). We are AP holders and plan to be back in the World at least twice in the next year... Do you think it will save us money? What are your experiences with the program? Thanks!!

DW and I are planning to buy one but haven't yet. I figure we spend between $60 and $100 a day for lunch and supper. 20% is $12-$20 per day times 10 -14 days per year. We save a minimum of $70 and probably more. I guess it comes down to how many times you do sit-down dining and how many times you go a year. Between World Showcase and the Territory Lounge we'll do well.

With your AP can can buy DDE at a discount of $25, which means it would cost you $50. Since you can save 20% on food and drinks at almost all sit downs, the key question is if you'll spend $250 on food & drinks at those places over your stay? That's just to re-coup the cost of membership in DDE. Every dollar beyond the $ 250 point, without DDE you'll be paying 20% more than you could have.

Perhaps you should decide which places you want to eat/drink, then survey the menus, make an estimation of what you two might order & eat and figure the cost for those things to help take some of the guess work out.

HTH
:)

ps/It's been my experience that on average a sit down with a couple of drinks each for two, will run me $ 130 +/-

You do not say where you are staying, so I just wanted to add that the DDE card is good at the Pop, All-Stars, and POFQ food courts and also at the two counterservice at SSR. Also it gives you 20% off on all alcoholic drinks at restaurants and the lounges of the resorts. Right now the expiration date on the cards are 3/31/06, which gives you 13 months to use it. Have fun!

We love the DDE!!!! We just used it the first week of Feb and saved a ton! The only meals we didn't use it for were at the Blue Zoo and the Luah ( could have, but we wanted the early show). We used it at all our breakfasts and most dinners.

For DW and I,we could not eat that much food and I'm diabetic.I've seen many good reports though that is a great value and saved folks many dollars. :earsgirl: :earsboy: :sunny: :flower:

DD spent her 2lsst birtday at WDW with her gf staying at Pop Century. The card was worth it for them, even tho they only ate at two ssit down restaurants, Primetime and CRT. They celerated her birthday at CRT, so that was kind of a expensive meal.

Pop food was pricy and they had l or two meals there daily. Saved quite a bit with card. They also used it at AK.

herc.

We just ordered our DDE card for our May and October trips. DH and I average $100 a day for food at WDW, so 20% off $600 for our May trip will net us $70 in savings. We've actually booked PS for some pricier restaurants this trip since it is just the two of us and we will have the DDE.

What really sold me is that we are planning a big family trip for 8 nights in late October. There may be 10 of us and I will be able to use the DDE card for all of us when we dine together.
