My family will be visiting WDW in June. We are trying to decide if the Disney Dining Experience is a worthwhile program.

What you'll need to decide is how much you will be spending on food. We normally plan on $100-125 per day for 2 adults and one 11 y/o who is very 'discriminating'. We as AP holders can get the DDE card for $50, so we would have to spend $250 for food before it became a break even proposition. I wasn't going to buy it for our trip in June because it was going to be just my dd and myself and we would be eating at mostly counter type spots. But, dh has decided to go and he likes a good sit-down meal once a day! So, it will pay for itself quickly.

The DDE card is accepted at most sit-down restuarants and several food courts. Go to one of the listings and see if you would be eating at any of these spots.

The DDE card is also accepted in the main bars in the deluxe hotels..and alcohol is also discounted with your regular meals.

Thanks for the info! I had heard about the DDE but it didn't occur to me to order one til I read this. We head down to FL on :jumping3: Friday 7am :jumping3: (fr Nova Scotia and hoping nothing is delayed due to the wicked storms we've been having!).
Anyway, I called and she is emailing me a letter to use while there. It'll be worth it for us. Family of 5 x 11 days. PS sitdown meals arranged for most days. I figure we're looking at 1500 - 2000 minimum for food. The discount on alcohol is a nice bonus since we like to have a glass of wine with our meal. Thanks for the great idea.

Does everyone in your party have to have the DDE card? If I bought the DDE card for myself, would I get the discount for my family of 4 (Myself, DH, DD5, DD3)?

Yes the whole family would get the discount. Its good for up to 10 people on the same check.

AP holders get it for $50, non AP holders get it for $75 and you get two cards, one for you and one for an adult living in the same household.

Great,

Another decision to weigh out.

I am going in a couple weeks, and IF Disney can email the temporary documentation, I may consider this.

I just did a quick tabulation, and the card would save me $93 and cost me $75, an $18 savings,IF I ordered what I plan to order. Of course the danger with the card is I may order more than I intnded to order.

Question becomes, is it worth it to save $18. I have no plans to return to the park within the 12 month period. Another question is, if I were to purchase the DDE card, could I have the discount taken off of Spirirt of Aloha tickets that I have already pruchased and paid for. Yes, in my case that WOULD tip the scale between it being a profitable and non-profitable proposition.
