Disney Dining,DIS Meets, and WAIT-Why is that lady holding..... FINAL THOUGHTS 11/27

And I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the CM breakfast. If you remember, we weren't impressed with dinner there, either in January. For some reason though, Miguel wants to go back. :confused3 It sounds like breakfast would be the time to go!

Try the breakfast, Courtney! We had tried dinner there back in 2003---I know that's too long ago to still harbor bad feelings about a meal---:rotfl:. But because we didn't remember it as being too good, we had never gone back. I decided to give the breakfast a chance because, well...you really can't mess breakfast up, can you AND the characters are classic.

You and Miguel should try the breakfast there. It really was good--We would definitely go there again for the same meal! :thumbsup2

Great MK update! Woo hoo for seeing Pinnochio! :woohoo:

I love your idea of a late breakfast! I had pretty much decided that on our next trip we would do late breakfasts and early dinners. We can do brought-from-home snacks the rest of the time. Saves time AND money! :thumbsup2
Thanks, Denise! :)

We like the late breakfasts. You're right in your plan---that can save some money. This time we were using the DDP, so that wasn't necessarily the reasoning in the late ADR. Although, we just wound up using that table service credit for CMs and then we used a quick service credit that evening for dinner.

Great updates! Cool you got to see Pinocchio. I don't know if we've ever seen him. Makes me think of the Disney Full House episode because he shows up at Michelle's tea party. :rolleyes1:rotfl:.

You just reminded me how much older I am than you! :rotfl:

I never knew that either about only 2 dolls in IASW that represent the US. Very interesting!.

I thought so! I read it in a disney trivia book by Louis Mongello. :thumbsup2

Yes, Sara---the next trip! ;) We really liked the breakfast (of course you know my fave breakfast is at 'Ohana---but that's just because I'm lazy and like to sit and have my food all brought to me! :rotfl: )

I've seen the Kingdom Keepers books, but haven't read any. Have you read many of them?

I'm with you Michelle- that was one of the main reasons we picked 'Ohana for breakfast last time! So we could have our food brought to us

I've read all three, they're pretty good, but the writing is pretty poor in my opinion  They're still good books though. I think the 4th one is coming out in... April 2011? The first two are pretty quick reads, and the third one is a little longer

Thanks for the tip on Tarjay...I will go check for Elizabeth's dress! It is so cute.

Looks like a super-fun morning at MK. Bonus points for coffee albeit Disney coffee. And really, how hard would it be for them to get some good coffee?? :confused3

I don't think I've ever seen Pinnocchio in the parks either. Good character mojo!

IASW is going to be down for refurb on my next trip and I'm a bit disappointed. I can't say it's my favorite but it definitely screams Disney. Thanks for the trivia!

Glad you enjoyed Chef Mickey's! I'm not a big breakfast eater in general and thought the food was just ok but the characters are terrific!

Yay for making rope drop! :woohoo: And for seeing Pinocchio! I don't think I've ever seen him in the park before. Glad you guys got to meet him!

Great idea to hit Fantasyland before a late breakfast. I think we might go that route next trip instead of doing all 7:30-8 am ADRs. I know DH would appreciate getting to sleep in a little longer.

I'm so glad that you all like CM's! It is one of our favorite breakfast spots. I'm not a fan of lunch/dinner buffets, but I really enjoy breakfast ones. Those characters were wearing you guys out that morning! Great pics!

Great update!! Philharmagic is one of my favorites in MK, too! I love hearing all of the wonderful music!

Thank you for the Chef Mickey's review! We have discussed doing breakfast there on a future trip, but we hesitate because we didn't enjoy the food all that much at dinner a couple years ago. The character interaction was incredible, but we went away hungry! I'm happy to read a positive review of the breakfast!

All the pics of the kids with the characters are great! And Goofy came over to tease you about your anniversary - that's so cute!

Yay for an early morning at Fantasyland followed by brunch! :cool1:

We did the same thing on our June trip, but did 'Ohana for the first time...and loved it!! We did CM later in the trip, which we had done before, but Ramon says he liked 'Ohana better, so we'll probably be going back there. I'm with you on the whole food coming to the table vs buffet thing. I also found it was a bit stressful deciding when to get up for my food and keeping an eye out for characters at CM, so I think that didn't make it as enjoyable either. Plus, when Mickey stopped by, it seemed like he really needed to be somewhere else other than our table. :rolleyes1

I took a picture of the cowboy and indian on our latest trip, too, because I didn't have a picture of them, but I've made that observation and always comment on that at the end of the ride. I didn't know that was in the Louis Mongello trivia books; I just got one earlier this year, maybe I haven't gotten to that part yet. (Or maybe it's not in the book that I got. :upsidedow) Well, I remember not having seen them before and then on one trip they were there - not sure if they just weren't there before or if I had just overlooked them. Does it say in the book if they've always been there or were added on later?

I think I may need to read them once school gets started and we get back into the routine of all that. :)

And really, how hard would it be for them to get some good coffee?? :confused3

It makes you wonder, doesn't it? They ARE Disney, afterall................;)

Great idea to hit Fantasyland before a late breakfast. I think we might go that route next trip instead of doing all 7:30-8 am ADRs. I know DH would appreciate getting to sleep in a little longer.

That plan works for us, Julia. But I still like to get up and hit the park and get some things done before the crowds settle in. :thumbsup2

Great update!! Philharmagic is one of my favorites in MK, too! I love hearing all of the wonderful music!

:goodvibes It makes me happy!

Go for it! You know Henry would love the characters, and there was plenty of choices as far as food items. :thumbsup2

Your Chef Mickey’s breakfast looks awesome. We have a 10:30 reservation one morning on our upcoming Thanksgiving trip – I hope we have as much fun as your family did. I'm a big fan of later breakfasts (brunch) b/c I find the characters spend more time at each table.

For us, that plan always works better---getting to the park early, getting several things done, sneaking away for a late breakfast. :thumbsup2

'Ohana is our favorite breakfast, too! I just like sitting and not having to get up. PLUS---I love, love, love :lovestruc that juice
!

The book I have is volume 2, but I don't think I read anything about them not always being part of the ride, at least not in the volume I have. :)

I really like his books---Lots of fun information. We've carried them in the car before on our way to Disney, and we'll quiz each other! A family of Disney nerds! :rotfl:

We love having the later breakfasts. I agree about the characters spending more time. But I just like getting to the park early, getting a lot of things done, and then just as it starts to get crowded---you leave and go sit, rest, and eat! :thumbsup2

Hope your family enjoys Chef Mickeys! :)

I'm glad you guys had a fun time at the beach -- even if you couldn't get in the water. That would be the hard part for me, I love the sound of the waves coming ashore, but it would be hard not to go in...

Smart thinking to go to Peter Pan first!

Chef Mickey's looks good! I've always heard great things about the breakfast there. We don't normally do a big breakfast in the morning, but waiting until 10:45 or so like you did we might could do. Maybe. The kids sure are insistent on having breakfast before we leave the house or hotel for the day...maybe they could get by on a snack...

Yay! I just love MK updates because they make me feel so happy!:goodvibes Yep, I'm a nut!:upsidedow

We're sold on the later breakfast thing too. Doubt I'll do an early one many times more. The only thing they're good for is getting in before park opening! We loved our 'Ohana breakfast but CM is a fav of ours too. Well, honestly, we're big fans of most of the breakfast meals!!

Do you have workdays at school this week?

Looks like a fun MK morning. We were at DHS that am and waited out the short storm there. Glad you liked CM-I have heard mixed reviews. Have it planned for our Dec trip. Christmas Eve dinner with Mickey to be exact :)

Smart thinking to go to Peter Pan first!

For several trips, it's sort of been our tradition to ride Peter Pan first on a MK day! :)

We're sold on the later breakfast thing too. Doubt I'll do an early one many times more. The only thing they're good for is getting in before park opening!

Do you have workdays at school this week?

I hear you on that early breakfast ADR! We had a 8:05 one at Akershus this trip, and it was horrible trying to drag my bunch around world showcase to make it on time!

We have one day of inservice on Wednesday, but we don't have required workdays for our classrooms. I've probably been there 2-3 times a week for the past few weeks, and will be spending the last two days this week there fore sure! How about yourself?

Sounds like a fabulous way to spend Christmas Eve! :thumbsup2

If we put in eight hours before the first required day, we get an extra hundred dollars. :) When we go back, our stuff is in a pile in the middle of the floor, as they have pulled everything out into the hall to clean and wax the floors. It is not hard to spend eight hours unearthing the desks and putting our tubs, books, and centers where they belong.

All the breakfast talk has me wanting to go start some bacon, eggs, and pancakes, but nobody is here this morning but me.
I'll probably end up with a bowl of oatmeal instead.

Great CM update :thumbsup2. The pictures are really good too. On our first trip to Disney we had breakfast at CM and it was so much fun. I will never forget that trip. As much as I love Disney and enjoy every trip; there will never be a trip like the first.

I met Pinnochio that last time I was in MK too! And it rained that day...maybe he only comes out when its supposed to rain lol.

It looks like you got a lot of character action at Chef Mickeys! I've heard of people not seeing many characters at some of the character meals. Good to know that Chef Mickey's is better...I'll keep that in mind :)

Yay for Pinocchio! I've never seen him - maybe this trip?

I am so sad that Small World won't be open when we go. It's probably my favorite - relaxing(ish, besides all the noise of course!), and there's so much to see. It's adorable. We always go on at least twice!

And Philharmagic is a big fave of DH's so we always see that at least twice. I always, always laugh.

Looks like you had a great time @ CM's! I'm so hungry, looking at all that food and remembering breakfasts past!
