Hi all ... We are planning our first disney trip for April 2-5, I wish we had more time, but it is just not possible. Anyway, I am planning on getting the dining plan. From what I understand the snack is something simple like ice cream or a Drink the counter service is like a take and go sandwich or meal, and the table service is for one sit down meal.

Is there a link to the places that accepts each level of the plan options? Do the character seatings use 2 table service seatings? Is there a convience store to get milk and cereal or should I figure out a way to get some there? Honestly, If I can bring/have milk cereal, lunchables and PB&J the kids would be set for the short time we are there.

I am hoping to make my reservations this week and I would like to try to figure out dining shortly there after.

Thanks in Advance:hippie:

Here's the link to All Ears Dining Info. You can look at menus and check to see what restaurants (almost all) that take the dining plan.

2 TS meals include signature dining places, dinner shows and meals at Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle in the MK. All other character meals are 1 TS credit meals.

Most resort food courts have cereal and milk. You can also consider ordering groceries if your room has a fridge.

...And you can use snack credits for more than just ice cream- there are some tasty and savory things available, such as eggrolls at a kiosk in Animal Kingdom, fresh fruit is available everywhere in the parks, and also items like popcorn and soft pretzels. You just need to look for the little dining plan snack credit symbol on any posted menu (I'd post a pic of it if I were more savvy- maybe another poster can do that for us!)....

Here's a link to the 2011 DP brochure that lists all the CS and TS locations.

For snack locations, there's too many to list in a brochure, but using snack credits is super easy. Items that are available for a snack credit are always clearly labeled with the purple DP icon. You can use a snack credit for a good size bottle of milk in your resort's food area or gift shop. There is also a wonderful thread here on the DIS where all the current snack options are tracked -- it's quite extensive and accurate, and you can use it to plan out the best value for your snack options.

Most character dining are 1 TS credit per person. Cinderella's Royal Table is an example of a character dining that is 2 TS, but the brochure lists them all out.

Also, are you expecting that you won't get the dining plan for your kids? I am not sure of the rules but I *think* the dining plan needs to be purchased for all members of your reservation, unless they are under 3 years of age.

Yes the Dining Plan has to be purchased for everyone in your group.

If you purchase the dining plan for one, you must purchase it for all, so you can't not buy it for the kids. If you will have a child under 3, they are not eligible for the plan.

Moving this to the dining plan board, check the sticky threads on this board - there is a full FAQ thread on the dining plan.

That list of restaurants isn't finalized since non-Disney owned restaurants haven't been added yet.

THe kids will have the dining plan also, but if I use 2 TS credits for CRT or decide that I want to have extra things in the room for the kids to eat, then I need to think that through.

How good are the counter service meals??

I didn't realize I didnt post on the Dining thread (oops) no wonder I was having a hard time looking back for it.

U r going to hear all kinds of things about the meals at WDW.. But, this is what I have found.. If you are going to CRT that will take 2 credits, if you feel the need to eat another sit down meal or decide that meal would be better as a counter service think about paying out of pocket..Sometimes, you may just be a bit hungry and getting a counter service would be a perfect option as you can just get one and then share it and then spending $10 for a counter service meal isn't that big of a deal..

You should read all of the restaurant threads there are So many options not just regular amusement park food..

The CS meals are relatively good. TONS of different options. The CS meals are things like burger, fries, drink and dessert, or pizza, salad, drink, dessert. Places like the resort food courts, Cosmic Rays or Sunshine Seasons (or most of the places in Epcot World Showcase) have different types of meals like roasted chicken, a veggie, dessert, drink or other meals that go along with the country it respresents. And there's always kid-friendly options like PBJ, nuggets, pizza at almost every place.
