Just got an email from Disney Destinations. When I first saw their name in my in-box I was excited thinking "pin code" but upon opening the email I disovered that someone has compromised a bunch of emails from their site and mine was one of them. They warned me that, based on this probem my email could be used to send me spam, malware, viruses and/or try to get info. from me on my accounts and such. Augh!

Some peope just suck! If you are that talented to be able to hack into other websites and steal info. why don't you use that talent to get a good job in the computer industry. JERKS! :headache:

Was it a blank email? Because I also received an email from them this morning. The subject line was: Important Information for Disney Destinations Email Recipients But there was nothing in the body of the email.

Just opened the same email. My first reaction was like yours. Upon seeing their name, I thought I had hit the jackpot and was going to open it to find a pin code. No such luck!

It is sad that people use their talent to hurt others.

Here's to hoping our next email from Disney Destinations has a pin code.

I received mine around 8 this morning and this is what it says:

We want to assure you that your email address was the only personal
information we have regarding you that was compromised in this
incident.

As a result of this incident, it is possible that you may receive spam

Sincerely,

Disney Destinations

I got one of those emails from each of the following:
Disney Destinations, Disney Visa, BArnes and Nobles, Ny and Co, Kohls ,HSN...I am really steamed

DD should offer all of us a pin code with no black-out dates that's actually good over Christmas::yes::

:thumbsup2 I'm In!

But now I may be a little nervous clicking on a link from Disney Destinations. But that would not stop me from using the phone!

Oh no! That stinks!

I received the same email from Disney Destinations (I too, was hoping for a PIN -- not that I could use it this year since we're staying at S/D, but it would be nice to get one again after not getting one for several months, just so I'd know they hadn't forgotten about me).

Late last year, my credit card number was stolen -- to this day, I still don't know how, but I was just relieved to see that it was only my email address that was compromised this time.

I do think they should compensate us somehow for the inconvenience. ;)

Maybe we should all flood the 407 FL area code number with suggestions that as a good will gesture, DD really should attach the magical no black-out date pin code to our name. Otherwise, we may never click on any emailed DD links or open their emails. (:ssst:We'll just keep it a secret that of course we'll continue to read their emails - who can resist:confused3)

Wow , nothing yet for me from DD but did get one from HSN

I got the same email from Disney as well as Tivo. My guess is they must all use some central repository for email management.

It kinda bugs me that their only reaction is basically "Oh... whoops. Sorry." and we're left with either having to deal with spam, viruses, malware, and the annoyance of having to sift through all of that garbage, or deleting the email account and starting all over with another one, and having to re-establish that email wherever you previously used the one that was compromised (and potentially losing out on savings, coupons, PINs, etc until we do).

This is more than just an "inconvenience", they could potentially be exposing us to damaging viruses, and they basically just shrug and say "oops".

EDIT: Apparently the breach happened on March 30th, and it was the Epsilon company who was compromised. Details:

Here's the official announcement from Epsilon, which is just OVERFLOWING with details:

I got the email this morning too.

I like the above idea as well.

Thanks for the links. Epsilon comforts us with, "A full investigation is underway."

If so, then those of you with Norton Anti-virus might be able to block all emails with the ability in Norton. When you open Outlook, make sure that Norton is integrated with it. You can then right click on any suspicious email and then tell it to block any email from that web site, server, etc.. At that point , any bad email will be sent straight to junk. Then set your "Junk" box settings to delete all junk mail automatically when you exit Outlook. This way you will not see them, they will not be opened to allow a virus to get on your system and they will be deleted automatically when you close Outlook. Norton also can be set to scan any incoming mail for viruses, including attachments, prior to it getting to your in box in Outlook. good luck. This is a serious breach and we can only hope that it's only email addresses affected!:surfweb:

What is this PIN number everyone is referring to and what is it for and how do you get it??

Got it too!! And from Kohls. This is why I have 2 email accounts, one for friends, family, personal stuff. One for business only. Over the years, I have noticed that my business email gets TONS of spam, while my personal one gets very, very little. I only open the ones that I know, and just delete all the rest.
