Glad you made it home safely. I hope you weren't delayed too long. Did you have a nice trip?

It was VERY nice! Getting a GAC card was the best move I have ever made in my life!!! Didn't know about them last time.

Got TONS of great character interaction due to the t-shirts and autograph pages and I have all of you to thank for it!

Will write more later ... try to do trip report and pics etc ...

Only an one and a half ... but because my DH insisted we be at the airport early ... we were there for over 4 hours!

Sorry DDAs, no time to play today. I have to address my Christmas cards. My printer is broken again! (do you see a pattern here?) and I can't print my newsletters. I'm going to have to return this printer and get a another new one (it's barely 3 weeks old!)

My computer and camera aren't speaking right now, so I can't download pictures.

Steffy you do seem to have problems with electronics and electricity

I'm going to decorate the tree with DGD. Have to go shopping with DD. Have to wrap. Love to you all. You are my Santa Clause!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes I tried to go back to that page and catch up, but failed.

The story about Santa and the grandma... that's how I feel about you. :goodvibes :goodvibes We are making new memories with our new decorations.

  :cloud9:

Well, gotta go. I also want to try some of the recipes! Gotta go grocery shopping too! :goodvibes

OMG Steffy, remember, we do not do crafts or baking well. Step away from the oven. Remember, we are not Martha Stewart :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I never posted the outside of our house. Took this tonight.

I've got a great and FUN candy for you. It was in Family Fun magazine last year. I'll look for the recipe. I make these for all holidays and just change the color of the kiss and M&M (ie white kiss with red candy for Valentine's). They are absolutely delicious, and a tradition around here now. The kids love helping make them.

Holiday Pretzel Treats

Salty pretzels combine with sweet chocolate for these fun treats that make a yummy gift few can resist. (In fact, you may want to make some extras for yourself!)

INGREDIENTS:
bullet_small.gif
Bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels
bullet_small.gif
Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug
bullet_small.gif
M&M's candy

1. Heat the oven to 170º. Set a number of bite-size, waffle-shaped pretzels (one for each treat) in a single layer on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, then top each pretzel with an unwrapped Hershey's Kiss or Hershey's Hug.

2. Bake for 4 to 6 minutes (the white chocolate will melt more quickly), until the chocolates feel soft when touched with a wooden spoon. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and quickly press an M&M's candy into the center of each Kiss.

3. Allow the treats to cool for a few minutes, then place them in the refrigerator to set, about 10 minutes. Place handfuls of the candies in clear plastic bags and tie on colorful ribbons.
My MIL made these this year, only she used a Rolo candy for the Kiss, and a pecan on top instead of M&M. EASIEST turtles ever and they were SOOOOO delicious!
May have to try it your way....kids LOVE M&M's but don't like the pecans!

Yummy! Now I have something new to try next week. Thanks for the tip! The kids and I are baking cookies and sweets on Tuesday and Wednesday, so I'm getting my grocery list together. Tomorrow we're making a gingerbread house. The gingerbread men were great today, and they want to make a house like at the GF!

Sounds like a lot of fun! We normally do tons (think 12+ kinds of cookies each year, crafts, homemade gifts, etc) but with the move and kids in school and lots of family emergencies the last 6 months :( , I don't even have cards mailed! And we leave for WDW tomorrow to stay until Friday! Good thing, yes, but I've SO run out of time for our usual Christmas festivites! You can imagine how stressed I've been all week with everything haveing to be done by today! :faint:

We have one of those gingerbread house kits someone sent us. Think we may take it with us to do one evening at the hotel. Kids will love it and we'll get a taste of our usual Christmas activities :) Thanks for the reminder!

Oh I love Rolo's and turtles! I'll be trying this tomorrow!!

Denise, we made the wreaths anyway. They were super easy and yummy! We made reindeer cookies too. I'll post pictures after we eat supper.

OK, this is what I'm going to do.

I can't find the mom's phone number (they just moved here) so I called my friend who has had the child over to her home before. She said he LOVES candy canes (and would want that more than what I'm making) so I'm going to dress his up like Rudolph or something. We'll still make our treats and I'll put them in ziploc bags. They do share time right before they leave so his teacher (I've already talked to her) will put the cookies in their bags as they're leaving. He won't be in contact with the bags or with any child who has eaten something with peanuts/traces of peanuts in it. Both the teacher and my friend have discussed his allergies with the mom and they both think this is fine.

He breaks out in hives so his allergy is not life threatening, but I don't want to endanger him in any way.

So...does anyone have ideas for dressing up a candy cane?

I'm a couple of pages behind now so you probably got an answer, but there are several different ways to dress up a candy cane. The reindeer is just a brown pipe cleaner wrapped around the top to make antlers, some googly eyes and a pom pom nose. We have also made candy cane mice out of felt. One color felt for body, kind of a large teardrop shape, a different color oval for the ears, some googly eyes and yarn for whiskers. The candy cane is the tail. Cut a couple of slits through the head to slide the ears through. I wish I had one to show you, but mine melted. We hang them on the tree.

Here are pictures of the treats we made tonight. Both were really easy and very cute! DS will tell about making them for Share Time on Monday and we're sending them to school for his classmates.

He is very proud of his cookies!

Just Bumping for the night crew. :teeth: Amy, are you out there??? :listen:

BTW MidNite is that a new tag? (A better name for me would be Her Royal Majesty)
:rotfl: Yes, I got it from one of those questionaires on the CB. The question was "A better name for me would be:" and I was being a smart alek and put "Her Royal Majesty" :teeth:

I guess I'm having my own posting party. :flower: It is so strange not checking in for 12 hours and only having 4 pages to read. I hope that everyones holiday planning is going well. I have wrapped most of what I have bought and have a list of things I still need to pick up. Going shopping first thing in the AM. Hopefully it won't take too long. The restaurant was super busy tonight and one of our cooks cut himself pretty badly and had to go for stitches so they operated a man down. Glad this night is over, but the tips were pretty good. :cool1:

For those leaving for the world: Have a Great Trip.
For those coming back: Welcome back, can't wait to hear about your trips.

Now I need to pick a photo to enclose in the christmas cards that I haven't made out yet. Maybe I'll find time tomorrow.

Deb
