Where on Long Island?? We moved upstate just a year ago and all our family is on da Island. I'm from Northport, and Skunka is from Levittown. And sorry if I've already asked that and forgotten (but I wouldn't be surprised!!)

What I really want to know is what page should I start at to find how we got a board of our own!!!!!

That's a good recap Clare except for - and we continue to bash Kate. Why? Because we care!

We got our own board about 4 days ago, so it shouldn't be that far back. I would start from then. It won't take you too long to catch up!!

Oh, and Paul can fart with the best of them, so he's now called Skunka Hunka compliments of Tammi. That about covers it!!!

Oh, my God. Oh, my God. I'm sorry. This moment is so much bigger than me. This moment is for the DDA. It's for the women that stand beside me, Denise, Amy, Baloo, Marti, Tammi, Deb, June, Lynn, Elin, Delinda, Missy, Lisa, Heidi, Glynis, tinker1bell, Jennifer, Brendita, Karebear1, Dawn, Beth, Disneynewbie, Disneyeveryyear, Kelli, Steffy, Midnite, Rosiejo, ksoehrlein (seriously if I missed you – let me know and I will edit you in!!!) and of course, Kevin, Hunka Hunka and Mac!! And it's for every nameless, faceless DISer that now has a shirt because this thread has been opened. Thank you. I'm so honored. I'm so honored. And I thank the DDA for choosing me to be the vessel from which these designs might flow!! Thank you.
I want to thank The DIS. Thank you. Thank you for making sure everybody knew about this little tiny little thread. Thank you for believing in us. Our moderator, Baloo - you're a genius. You're a genius. This experience was magical for me because of you. You believed in us; you trusted us and you gently guided us through very scary places. I thank you.

Thank you for never kicking me out and sending me somewhere else. Thank you. I, I, I, who else? I have so many people that I know I need to thank. Thank you to the developers of Photoimpact and Disney for the inspiration.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

(Now I am giong to quit posting to just look at my even 4000 for a little bit!!)

Great speech Kate - and congratulations! You could give Gwyneth a run for her money :rotfl:

And yes I did get a little kick that my name was in the list

Thanks everyone for the good wishes for Matt. I just hate when kids are sick! I'd rather be sick than them. Oh - and Skunka Hunka is the greatest. I can always catch up on sleep and there will be two loads of laundry done, dishes in the sink are done and he's even gone to the grocery store. Gotta love a man like that!!

Wow, Kate has 100 more posts than Denise now...when does Denise get home? :teeth:

Amy :)

Clare - I like the picture in your signature, but I can't remember if I told you that Paul and I agreed that the picture we like the best is the one where you are inside the castle and you are leaning on your husband. I know its a posed picture, but you both look so relaxed - it doesn't look "stiff" like a posed shot. I'd be sending that out as my Christmas card this year!!!

ROSIEJO - I just looked at wedding photos..they are so beautiful I wanted to cry. The looks on your faces & the way the pictures came out are absolutely beautiful. You made a lovely bride & a lovely couple. Thanks for sharing.

STEAMBOAT MARTI - I am on the south shore of Nassau County. I love it here..close to the beach & close to the city. I used to have a friend in Northport...we can't go out any farther east since DH works in the city.

Hey Baloo -- come out, come out, wherever you are!! Can Baloo come out and play??? Huh, can she, huh??? I swear when one of us goes to WDW, big stuff happens. Rosiejo can hardly be catching up on what happened while she was away, and now, we've moved again. Do we get a discount on the next move??

Luckily I have this subscribed and it's the only way I access it - when I heard we moved I had to go seek out our board... wow!

Glad I found the posts that explained the move though :goodvibes

Hope Marti doesn't mind if I chime in here!

You can use your points as soon as your paper work officially goes through. Your points renew every year. You can either spend them all every year, bank (save them for the next year) all or some of your points every year for additional use in the next year, or you can borrow points from the following year if you need more points in your current year. Basically- you have 3 years of points to play with one way or another. Personally- I'm ALWAYS in the borrowing mode- and I have 200 points! Time to add on I guess!!!
Don't forget that in addition to making your monthly payment, you'll have an additional payment for "dues" which pays for upkeep etc. on the resort. We own at BCV's and pay about $600.00/year for that maintanance fee. You can pay that in 1 lump sum or break it into 12 monthly payments. When you pay of the BIG loan ($15,000) you will get a deed- and only have the maintananace fee to pay until the 40 or 50 year contract has expired.

My DH and I bought into the DVC in 2002 as well. We did it AFTER the kids were all in college. It is by far one of the best decisions we have ever made. We LOVE the DVC!!
Do I get 150 points to spend each year and how many years can I bank or rollover. Is the membership transferable to my children if....for some unknown reason....I die or not physically able to use the points??

I know that is alot of questions.....I need to go ahead and call the 800 number and just have my questions ready for them.

I'm still back twenty pages or so, looking at all the beautiful trees and decorations, and I just want to cry. I honestly don't know how my DD and I are going to make it through December.

Last Christmas we were at the Poly conceirge Hawaii building for 12 days 11 nights. We left home the 16th and returned the 27th. So no tree had to go up.

Fast forward to now. We have merged our households. We get the tree. We have a real fireplace to hang stockings. I go downstairs into the storage room. I find some lights. Some very old handmade ornamnets.

I look for my big box of ornments and my stockings. My DD does the same. Dsil asks, where did you see it last? Under the steps at the old house. Something in his eyes make us stare. "Hey, we agreed not to bring the fake tree and anything else we hadn't used in years. :sad1:

Hmmmm, we didn't use the decorations last year because we were in DisneyWorld. You wouldn't have thrown out our ornamnets would you? Dsil "Well, I gotta go to choir practice." :guilty: :guilty:

My DD and I have accepted the reality that he threw away our Christmas decorations. But the enorminty of this is making us sick. Literally. :bitelip:

Her stocking that she has hung every year since she was two. (we took it to Disney!!) All of the "my first Christmas all the way to My seventh Chritmas." ornaments. All of the special ornaments we recieved from the dead relatives. All of our Disney ornaments. :faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

I'm going to bed. I am burying myself under the covers. If I don't post anytime this weekend, send in tinker1bell to peel me off the floor.

My heart is broken. Goodnight.....

Steffy - I'm still behind but I just wanted to say how sorry I am - this is just awful - I hope it all works out for you in the following posts...

Once you purchase, you get 150 points every calendar year that you are on). Not every person is on a January - December points year, but you still get 150 points every 12 months. You can bank for one year only and borrow from one year only:

2004- bank your points
2005-use this years points, use 04 points and borrow 06 points
2006-no current points to use, but could borrow from 07

In this example you would have 450 points to use in 05. (150 x 3=450). I hope this makes a little sense. It is so tough to explain sometimes, I had to have it explained to me a couple of times a couple of different ways. And yes, the points can go to your children. You bought them and you own the rights for them until your membership expires (sometime in 2040s, and I'll be over 80 then!!). There is also a board here that you can post on that allows you to rent points from other DVC members, or rent out the points that you own. Lets say you can't go this year, and you have banked points that will definitely expire if you don't use them this year.... you can rent those points out -- the going rate is about $10 a point right now. That's a cool $1500 instead of losing the use of those points. PM me if you have any other questions???

Steffy and I went to see my two sisters (one of them is tinker1bell's sister) who live in Marietta in August of 2004.

Tinker1bell.........next time ya'll decide to take a road trip to Atlanta let me or Denise know and we can all get together. That would great!!!! Denise only lives about 45 minutes from me and probably only about 30 minutes from Marietta.

Over on the TPAS board there's an awesome picture of the castle - perfectly centered and NO PEOPLE. It's on a thread called "Anyone Surprised at CRT Availablity?" - post 19.

That is an awesome picture.

Hi Lynn, just got back on for a minute - it was a long night again with Matt. Didn't go to sleep until nearly 5am. That was no problem in college, but :earseek: I'm not in college anymore!!!!

As soon as you are closed after your purchase (just like the sale of a house, but you don't have to be there!!) you get to start using your 150 points. You get these every year for 40 years. I don't know when SSR expires, but I think it is 2045. You pass them to whom ever you want to when you expire. Once you are paid off it ten years - guess what??? You have a Disney room PAID FOR to use each year until your expiration date. I look at it like a car payment for 10 years, then a free room at Disney each year for another 30 years. We have friends that went with us in October, used the 15% off deal and are returning to the world using their new points in January. If you have any more questions, let me know. Its good that you are doing your homework, if you do purchase, you'll feel better knowing that you checked it out thoroughly.
Thanks for the info........just trying to get all my facts together so I can make a sale to my husband. He will be the one to convince. Can you or any other DVC member give me a for instance......December 30th arrival and stay for 7 nights at the Grand Floridian for a 2 bedroom.....how many points would that require??

Lynn

Ok - so we were at Epcot the day before thanksgiving and saw a family in white sweatshirts (it was FREEZING) wearing this design. I saw them a couple of times and then really stared when we were going into the land and they were coming out - the woman turned round and waved... but I wasn't sure if she was waving at me so I didn't wave back! I was wearing my bride ears but my tee was hidden by my gap sweater... please let me know which one of the DDAs you were??

Clare -- LadyLucca has a thread on this board with her designs. I know she checks in there regularly and you might get a response more quickly from her that way. I would love that without the text too!

Also, thanks for taking so much time going back and reading the posts. I couldn't remember exactly "why" I got the tag I did! Now I know :rotfl:

BTW - loved your wedding pictures and blog. How lovely. :goodvibes

Thanks pno4te - I have to go and check out this new board of ours so I'll post on her thread too. :goodvibes

Glad you liked the photos too
