Disney Day of Service

Hello!

I sent a request into 2 different organizations. I heard back from the 2nd one within 3 days & today they confirmed my dates for next Wednesday from 5p-8pm.

Now what do I do? Below is part of the email I rec'd from the organization:
-------------------------
You will need to go back to the e-mail provided to you from HandsOn Network to complete your registration. You must enter the date/time above in order for me to be able to verify their service. This should then take care of things. Thanks.
------------------------

I clicked on the interest email that I rec'd but its asking for all my volunteer info again--name/DOB's, etc. I went to the volunteer opportunity portal & it states "none".

***DISREGARD! After searching for a bit longer I found the info I needed :)
Thank you!!

All the opportunities have been "express interest" type opportunities. Are people having more luck with the ones that have specific dates and times? And if it says:

January 27 11:00 am to 2:30 pm (0 volunteers still needed as of 12 hours ago)

is it worth a shot to apply anyway or if they say 0 they mean 0?

My family (kids ages 6 and 9) are going to be spending the day working with newborn baby foals at an equine rescue farm! Feeding them, brushing them and just general care. We can't wait!!!!

My family was able to make blankets for a local church that supplies them to children in the hospital, foster homes, DCFS, etc. We turned them in this past Sat and already got our email with our link to print out the tickets, I havent printed them cause Im out of paper, but will print them tomorrow. :cool1:

My two youngest DDs and I completed and mailed (3) no sew blankets for the Linus project. I received the email from Disney to print the vouchers (4) days after the facility confirmed the completion. I thought that was really quick and certainly pleased since our trip is 2/1. :cool1:

I hope everyone has success, this is such a great idea on Disney's behalf.

Completed our service on 1/17 and just rec'd my voucher email this morning!
Our trip isn't until June, but wanted to do it early. So exciting!!

We sent our blankets out on 1/16 but with the MLK holiday no mail until Tuesday. So I'm hoping they received them on Wed. I keep checking my email but nothing yet. I'm just too anxious. I need to learn patience.

The first place didn't get back to me, which sort of ticked me off. Right off the bat they sent a whining email about how many people had responded. Um. It was the only op within 100 miles of my house and three decent sized cities! He should be glad only 110 families applied.

Lucky for us, the food bank joined the program. They are near where I work! I am so ready to volunteer and get that voucher. I'm paranoid they'll run out!

What are you all doing about little kids? DD will be three when we go. I haven't seen any ops for that age.

Well, I was under the impression that children under 6 could not participate.

I have to send in my application, but I've signed up to work with visiting nurses, which I am pretty excited about :) I will be starting nursing school this fall so hands on experience with residents is always great! I am buying a 7 day hopper ticket, so I will just use the voucher for fastpasses for our group.

The rules state a child has to be 6 in order to participate in the program. So we will have to pay full price for my 3 year old's ticket, even though she was perfectly capable of helping make Project Linus blankets.

Our trip is scheduled for Sept during free dining (we booked bounceback last year). We will save our one day base tickets from the package (except we will use the one for my 3 year old) and have them separated from our KTTW. Then we will use our volunteer passes to enter the park the first day and then pay to upgrade them to the 10 day park hoppers we want. We will upgrade my daughter's ticket from the package to 10 day park hopper at the same time.

It won't make our trip any cheaper (it cost us $26 per person extra because we had to buy materials for the blankets we made), but we will have a one day base ticket for each of us that we can use anytime since it won't be used and it will never expire. Plus, a dozen little boys in the NICU will be nice and warm.

We received our voucher email this morning! They are printed and put safely away with the copy of the birth certificates attached. It didn't take long at all. Assuming they received the blankets on the 19th/20th and the email came on the 24th. Great job by our Project Linus coordinator and for Disney for emailing so quickly. Can't wait until the end of Feb. We are visiting Florida but were skipping Disney this year. Now the kids (and dh and me) can get a day at Disney! It'll be a 1 1/2 hr drive each way, but well worth it. The kids were so excited when I handed them their ticket this morning.

We just signed up too! We are planning a trip to the Gulf Coast of FL, and considered going to Busch Gardens for a day. Then I saw this promo, and I am thrilled that our family can volunteer together and get tickets for one day to Disney! We'll have to pay for our 4-year-old to go, but we can manage that!

I am beyond excited for the opportunity to see Disney again - we thought it would be a few years before we got to go back!

And, to make it even better, last night (before I even knew this existed) my 8-year-old just told me she wanted to help people/. We discussed a variety of groups we could work with - and then found out we can get a vacation out of it!

Hooray!

My DH and I just signed up on Friday. After putting in our zip code we signed up with a food pantry about 10 mies from us.
Today they confirmed & we finnished siging up thru Disney and we are scheduled for Wed 2/3
It was much easier than I thought and not to far to travel since we live in a rural area.:)

It amazing that type in TN or my zip code and shows everything in GA. I guess WDW don't know there states.

For those doing the Linus project making blankets, did your event specifically state you could mail the blankets? The Linus event for blankets near me appears to be an onsite event in Maine rather than mailing in the blankets. Also is there a way to search by project name? I can only seem to search by zip and if the Linus blankets can be mailed in, then the event doesn't need to be anywhere near me.

Thanks!

Also...are the blackout days for the vouchers posted anywhere?

I had the same problem, I wanted to make the blankets but couldn't find a local chapter that was doing it. If you type in Macon, GA they are accepting mail in and are very accomodating. Good Luck!

cool thanks :) I also found one in Albany and a police liason that accepts blankets for kids.

and I answered my own question on the blackout dates:

◦Walt Disney World® Resort: March 29 - April 8 and July 4, 2010
◦The Disneyland® Resort: February 13-14, March 21, June 21-22, July 4, November 21, December 11-12, 2010.

I did the NH Linus Project and in the email after my inquiry she stated they could be mailed. It looked originally like it would have been onsite, but since I read others we're mailing to other nationwide chapters I submitted the inquiry. I would have asked her otherwise before committing and taking up the volunteer spots, but she beat me to the punch. :thumbsup2

Has anyone redeemed their's yet? My son will be 1 week shy of his sixth birthday for our trip. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck being able to utilize a under 6 child.
TIA!

DH and I both signed up this week! I am judging a Destination Imagination tournament for kids and he is helping in a bike race in Houston. We are very excited because we already have 1 day left on tickets from our honeymoon, so we are going to squeeze an April trip out of those 2 days!
