Disney Day of Service

Was that from Kyle?

Now that a lot of us are doing fleece blankets we need to find a good deal on the fleece. I need to make 6 of them.

Yes, that was from Kyle.

I'll keep you posted if I find a good deal on fleece....we only have to make 4 as our girls are too young. I need to figure out how to make them  I made a fish extender for our cruise so I can make a blanket too!

Hancock fabrics has fleece on sale for 50% off. Joann fabrics also has fleece on sale, but I think it is only 40% off.

Be sure you use one of their approved patterns. The coordinator I am working with sent me instructions, but they are also on the Project Linus website.

I live in NJ and have had the same problem. We tried about 10 other states and they were all accepted, but Disney does not like NJ. I finally gave up and was going to try again later. I don't know who to call to request assistance. We are doing the Project Linus. If anyone has any advice or know who to contact, please let us know.

From an email the coordinator send me

5. If any groups want to make blankets as a service activity (girl scouts, boy scouts, etc.), that would be great, but blankets will not qualify for Disney Passes.

Of course YMMV

and for those who mentioned mailing them in.. mine said all family members have to go when you hand them in.

I think everyone should check with their local project coordinator to see if they can mail them in for the credit.

I kept having the same problem and just kept trying and eventually it worked. Don't get too frustrated. It is for a good cause. I am sure it will work soon for you.

Just tried again, but still get the message for NJ - invalid state. I wish they would fix the problem. They must be very busy, but it is frustrating for us when we cannot complete our paperwork.

It is working this morning. I was able to register for NJ. :thumbsup2

For those making blankets, joanns online has their fleece no sew kits on sale for 50% off. We are now going to make 2 blankets each instead of one blanket each. Code: EADA3 will get you free shipping on purchases of $35 or more.

I signed my family up to do the Linus Project here in NH. I have a great stash of kid print fleece for my husband and daughter to make some no sew patterns, and I am hoping to do a quilt too. We are going to spend a day or two over spring break doing this. I think it's a great family project.

This promo is going to work out great for us. We have a room only deal booked with a 30% off pin code. I am hoping that the tickets will work like the birthday ones last year so that we can upgrade them to 7 day tickets. If not, the fastpasses will be great too.

We are doing the blankets, too. We have Disneyland APs and are hoping to use the one day tickets to visit the park on a blackout day. I think this should be possible, but I don't know for sure. What do you all think?

The give a day tickets also have blackout dates so you may want to check those to see if your date is one of them.

I signed up for the one in NH too. Have you heard back yet? Is this the one out of Portsmouth? :thumbsup2

the spot i wanted said march 4th 12 people still needed went and signed up and the march 4 is not even there to click.... uggg

I just signed our family up for 1/17 for 3 hours of service. For the black out dates for WDW it says:
◦For Walt Disney World® Resort: March 29 - April 8 and July 4, 2010

so I'm assume my date of 6/22 are good... when I first read it it sounded like March 29 thru July 4th:scared1:

do you have to make the blankets or can we buy one??? i can't even sew a button on a shirt lol no less make a blanket

I just put in my town and state instead of my zip code and got a lot more opportunities one of which was project linus. Thank you very much for the tips.

I signed up for one on January 17th...our day in Disney is January 25th! It says it could take Disney up to two weeks to contact me with the ticket, so I probably won't even get it in time. There were opportunities around January 9th and 10th, but when I tried to sign up it kept telling me to choose a valid state, which I did!!

Very frustrating, and I probably won't get the ticket in time. Atleast I'll be helping an organization where I otherwise would have been sitting on my bum. I wish the petsmart volunteering I do weekly would participate with this program!

It's the Seacoast branch of Linus but they are actually in Nottingham. I did the request on Saturday and got a message from them first thing this morning. The message said that we could do the blankets at home and enter whatever date we would like. I don't know how the drop off process works though.

I actually just received a response and they can be mailed to her. That works best for me since I am on the other side of the state. Do you know how many blankets? I didn't see that anywhere. :confused3 I plan on do these this week, we have a trip coming up in February.

The passes are upgradable according to the FAQs/Terms and Conditions. We are going during free dining in Sept. We will be buying our one day ticket to get the free dining and saving it to use other time. We will enter the park with our volunteer ticket and upgrade those to the 10 day park hopper tickets we want. My 3 year old will actually use the 1 day base ticket we get with the package and we'll upgrade hers when we upgrade ours. It's too bad she isn't old enough to participate. She had a good time picking fabric for the sick babies (we made preemie blankets for the NICU). She picked pretty blue fabric with Lightning McQueen (and didn't get mad when she found out she couldn't have one).
