Disney customer service is a joke

As someone who asks "When was your last visit?" on a daily basis, I can tell you it's purely just to let you know about new things going on at WDW, something considered a service. If you aren't a hardcore Disney fan, and your last visit was five years ago, you DEFINITELY want to know about MM+ before you leave to make the most of your vacation.

It isn't data mining, we don't log it away anywhere. It's just to make sure you know about all the cool new stuff (at least, that's the case where I work).

There was a mention at the start of the thread about free phone numbers, in the UK we seem to have these for Disney support, certainly was an 0800 number when I rang a few months ago, also they didn't ask me lots of questions, maybe it was because they were paying for it

I have to say, MY pet peeve is "please enter your reservation #" and I scramble to enter it fast enough.

When I finally get thru to a live CM, their first question is "what is your reservation #?"

My guess -- and I could be wrong about this -- is that they do this so they can verify that they are modifying the correct reservation. They probably have a reservation number pop up on their screen when you come on the phone (since you entered it previously for the automated system), and they ask you for your reservation number to make sure it matches. Or something like that. I don't know, I guess I always assumed it was something like that. I used to spell out my name and address for them when they asked me for it, until I realized they were only asking to make sure they were speaking to someone who is authorized to modify the reservation and not actually looking to type it in anywhere.
