Hi
I have booked a 4 night cruise on the wonder with Virgin. Virgin told the travel agent that a cat 9 & 5 stateroom would be together as this is what we requested when we booked. It now appears that after searching these boards that a cat5 is on deck 6&7 and cat 9 is on deck 2. I contacted the travel agents who said that i was correct and these rooms wont be together. They spoke to virgin to change the cat 9 to an inside room on the same deck as the cat5. The cheek of virgin who now want to charge me £85.00 to make a change too the booking, its there fault for giving me and the travel agent the wrong information in the first place. Have any cruisers with Virgin had this problem before.
Thanks Marv

As you probably know, the inside Staterooms on deck 7 will be either 10 or 11, so you are being asked to pay more money for a lower class of cabin. Would there be any penalties for cancelling with Virgin altogether? We got a great deal through Dreams Unlimited.

At the very least I would be speaking to/emailing Virgin to express my dissatisfaction.

Crikey Marv!

They've made the mistake and they've got the cheek to ask you to pay a penalty?!

I would be telephoning and wanting to speak to a manager. At the very least they need to offer you what you booked - which is connecting rooms - and if they've made a mistake then they need to get you connecting rooms in better staterooms - at no extra cost to you.

Just my opinion.

All the best trying to sort it out!

Cheers

Karen

Demand Virgin sort out their error! I have never used Virgin for a cruise as it is generally cheaper to book independently with a US TA (I use mouseear vacations). Good luck & enjoy the cruise!

Hi to you all
Thankyou for all youre advice. I have spoken to TA and she said that Virgin are totally in the wrong. I hope to have this sorted out by Wednesday. As for the rooms Virgin say they cant allocate rooms yet so cant give exact position as the cruise is too far away. I spoke too Virgin and they told me that cat 5 is on deck 7 and if i want my children close to me then i could have the inside room opposite. Ime not sure what cat room that will be.
I have booked 3 weeks in villa all flights, car hire, car inss, and 4 night cruise for 5 of us wth Virgin so i would rather try to sort out the problems with the cruise with them, than go else where.
I will keep you up to date on what happens
Thanks Marv :wave2:

Marv, it will be cat 10 or 11 - here is the link to the Deck Plan.

Thought i would update you the travel agent are still trying to contact Virgin and are going to change our booking to a cat5 and inside room opposite. The travel agent said that they would take the extra charge of £85.00. I would love to work in the travel industry but dont have the Qualifications to do so but Virgin have these idiots on the end of the phone giving you wrong information and i found out myself that they were wrong.
I think they should hire me tomorrow :rotfl2:

Just to update, Virgin have changed our booking and have given us 7065 inside and 7068 outside cabins. The total price of the holiday has come down now as the porthole ocean view was changed to an inside. If the kids want to see the sea they can hop over to our cabin.

I hope they didn't charge you a fee in the end Marv?

Ime not sure but i know that the travel agent said if they had too they would take the charge. I told them that there was no way that i was paying extra for their mistake and they agreed that it was wrong for Virgin to charge me.
