Disney Cruise (Rent or Use Points)

Ok, here is my situation.

We will probably buy into BCV 150 points within the next week but had this question about using points towards the Disney Cruise.

Should we use almost 2 years of points (2002 & 2003) for a 2-adult 7 day Eastern Cruise in May of next year or would I be better off renting the points and paying cash for the cruise?

That really depends on a lot of factors. We ultimately chose to use all points, but many have argued that it is not the best use of your points. It is true that if you are able to rent your points at about $10 per point you will generally come out significantly ahead by paying cash and renting your points. However, there is a convenience and risk factor that goes in favor of just using your points for the cruise. We faced another dilemma: pay cash for the third adult (13 yo) or buy more points and use the extra points to pay for the third adult. In this circumstance, points come out far ahead since you will have those points for the next 40 years or so (albeit with the incumbent annual dues on those points). We bought the extra points. The best use of points is at the DVC resorts, but I don't feel like I am throwing them away to occasionally trade out for things like the cruise.
