Now had 2 emails this eveing from different companies to tell me Disney have reduced their rates for August sailings.

We decided to wait until next August for the new ship as rates were so high for this year, We paid about $1,600 (for 3 of us) next year, this year on the Wonder same dates they wanted $2,500-$3000 depending which inside cabin, we could now book for $1,211 but no choice of cabin you leave it to them.
$1,211 for August is almost as cheap as Royal Caribbean, great price for anyone that wants to try a cruise.
This was 4 night, 22nd Aug. One before (17th Aug) is 5 nights for only another $100pp

Gets prices direct with Disneycrusieline.com or DreamsUnlimitedtravel.com

I am so tempted. I have been looking for ages and the only "reasonable" price one was the day we flew home (or just before). They have come down alot.

Can I ask a question. What is the waves/calmness like around this time of year? (I know that does not sound correct but hopefully you understand me :lmao:). Hurricanes etc?

Never been on a cruise, never wanted to, but somehow the disney "magic" has made me want to ! Where would be better that CC !

Any advice would be appreciated :flower3:

Also who do you register with to get updates on offers of cruises please

I see that Iglu Cruises have The Disney Med Cruise available in Aug for 11 nights for only £869PP:scared1: :scared1: Now that has to be a bargain:)

:goodvibes

Never had a problem with Disney cruises for calmness, in 2008 we did a Royal Caribbean in August set off and hit edge of the tropical storm/hurricane that was passing, torrential rain & wind on deck, down below hardly felt a thing.
I got emails from cruisedirect.com (get one every Wednesday with latest offers) & other site we can't say on DIS.

Does that include flights? direct with Disney 11 nights reduced in August from £708pp for 3 of us, again massive savings see the quote I just got here. How cheap is that for 11 nights Disney cruising in August?
Cat 12 (they choose cabin I believe)$3,079.40
Cat 11 (cheapest inside cabin available) $8,089.40

Yes Wayne it does:)

Get it booked, you will love it.:boat:

This x2! Even my doubting other half who can get a little travel sick loved the cruise. If there was any way I could wangled it I'd not think twice about nabbing such a great deal.

Talking of the seas - most of the time the Carribean is wonderfully calm and you can barely feel any movement at all. That said I have once been on a cruise where we were forced to sail through bad hurricane weather I have to be honest, it was very, very rough for about 6-7 hours as we passed through it - even the crew were commenting on it. Poor bloke suffered a fair bit and even though I have pretty decent sea legs but was feeling it a little off.

We bought these things called SeaBands from the ship's shop for him - it's like an elasticated bracelet with a little 'button' that you place on the inside of your wrist on a pressure point. I was deeply sceptical but I have to say he was bouncing around again in no time after putting these things on. Highly recommend these if you think you might be a bit susceptable to travel sickness.

I did not realise we could not mention other sites on the dis board :scared1: How come you can with some, but not with others? :confused3

There are some companies who pay DIS to be sponsors and advertise on here so I assume some companies blanked out are in direct competition against these advertisers I am not really sure. Maybe they have posted against guidelines in the past and now blocked.

7. ADVERTISING: The advertisers/sponsors who you see on the DIS are carefully chosen. While we welcome discussion of them as well as other businesses that you have information or questions about, if it's determined that you are using the DIS to promote a commercial venture, you will lose your posting privileges. This includes choosing a username/signature that refers to your business. In addition, links to the company's website will be blocked. Also note that we do not want the boards to be used for solicitations or for requesting referrals. Requests for advertising can be directed to Corey@wdwinfo.com for consideration.

I know there is also a history of some companies hawking for business direct via pm which would be another sure fire way to get someone in to the filter.

I hope they do this offer next year but with the new ship I doubt it.Got to save before I can book anything.Anyone know the deposit amount and if it is refundable??

Just looked and doing the 3 night DC on the new ship for 3 adults and a child is $1504!!!!!!:cool1: dates 25th august 2011. $1000 dollors more for the extra night. Problem is they want $800 deposit by 16th june and I am still saving spending money for this one. If only $300 would hav booked:sad2:

If you're serious in considering the cruise next year, book your cabin for just 2 adults - you can then add the extra adult and child on to the reservation closer to the time.

Rate is locked in for original booking, you pay a smaller deposit and DCL don't charge amendment fees as long as it's before full balance due date :)

Would it stil be the same price though? Funny that its a lot more for an extra night.

The price will be less initially as it's based on 2 adults occupying, but the base room rate stays the same from this point - when you add people on later (right up to the point just prior to paying final balance if you want) it's basically only an amendment to add on the cost of dining for the extra people.

So the final price down the line will still be $1504 because you're locking in the cabin rate with the 2 adults now. Not sure what it would currently be with 2 adults but that's relatively moot right now - the main point is that deposits are based per person on the booking so with only 2 the deposit you'd have to pay now would be smaller.

If that makes sense? It's one of those things that's really tricky to put in to words but once you 'get it' it all becomes obvious.

Oh sorry, and you mentioned the $1000 for the extra night. It does sound a lot but DCL prices are directly based on occupation bit like with flights which is why you usually get the best prices by booking so far in advance. Unlike airlines though, a DCL sale is much rarer and at best is usually only for a handful of sailings.

Anyhow, long and short, the 4 night sailing is likely more expensive as it's already proportionaly received more bookings than the 3 night. Less cabins available = higher prices.
