Disney Cruise on points - more ?'s

I've searched around a little to see the good and bad of it, but I have more questions. We're looking at a 7-night cruise next Oct for 4 people in two cabins. It would be 260 points for each cabin (for the room we want) or approx. $3500 for each cabin in cash. The advice seems to be leaning towards renting the points and paying cash.

The way I see it (and I DO NOT have a mind for math, so I need help here folks!), if I rented 260 points for $10 a point, that $2600 wouldn't cover the cost of the cruise. Because I would have to rent more points to cover the cash cost, it doesn't seem worth it. Does this make sense to anyone else?

What's the fine print here? $75 booking fee and $75 fee for reservation changes. What kind of changes are we talking about? Dinner preferences or reserving babysitting services, do they count? I can book 11 months in advance, but is that far enough in advance?

We bought an add-on contract so I feel like I'm swimming in points , plus we got the one-time 100 bonus points.

Is it 260 per cabin...or 260 per person? I don't have the points chart in front of me, but that sounds low.

You must be looking at the cat 7 for a Western cruise of October of '06, right? That 260 points listed is per person, so 520 for 2 people in that cabin if I've guessed which cruise you're talking about.

The charges for changes to the reservation do not include selecting dinner times, but are for changes to the people in the room, dates of the cruise, things like that.

AH-HA! I knew I was missing something in there! I read it wrong - that's all (must have had my rose colored glasses on).

Hmmm... that changes it a lot then. Back to the drawing borad then - I can do this, I just need to work out how!
