Disney Cruise Discount on Fantasy for DVC members

It's surprising the number of discounts DCL is offering on a brand new ship, during summer and it's inaugural year. Let's see, we have had IGT,OGT and VGT, Military rates and now DVC discount. I don't ever remember seeing a DVC cash discount, at least not since we've been members.

I've never seen price drops like on our Celebrity Med cruise, either, so I think the cruise industry as a whole is having trouble filling their ships this summer.

Me neither, I think you are right. These DCL prices are less than opening day... that's very rare for Disney.

Our TA has been on hold for 55 minutes trying to check this out for us. I really hope they allow us to apply the discount to our June 30 sailing. In the email it states CLEARLY that if you have an existing reservation on one of these sailing you can apply to the members room. Every JUNE sailing already has had paid in full date ,so saying you have to cancel and rebook is incorrect. I don't know if my TA will push this but I will be on the phone and email to DVC if they don't allow us to apply this when it clearly states we can. I assume that it will all come down to who our TA gets on the line!

This seems likea good deal compared to the regular prices. We got the email, too and could go in June if we wanted. However, even with this price, I could go on more than 2, 7 night cruises on another cruise line, so DH is unwilling to book it.

I also can't believe that they are discounting the new ship already. Cruise industry must be hurting pretty bad. Too many mega ships now, too many cabins to fill, high airfare costs seems to be a bad combination.

Actually, I thought if you were within the 75 day penalty window, it would be considered a cancel/rebook. I'm sure someone else can confirm, but that's what I understood whenever this came up.

Update! After I was told "no" by DCL for my 6/16 sailing, my TA called and I'm sure after being on hold forever, was able to switch me from a double porthole 8A on deck 5 to a 5C verandah on deck 7. I have some ambivalence about losing the mini-suite 8A, but the $270 net savings (I no longer can get the $200 rebooking OBC) will pay for Remy plus our excursions.

We had previously looked at booking a cruise this summer, but the best available price we could find with a Disney cruise was at least 5-6K for a 5 night. We just booked category 4A, Deck 9, and the total for 4 including taxes, fees, and gratuities was 4800, whereas without the code, would have been between 11 and 12K. This is a great deal, and while it still is NOT cheap, we wanted to take advantage of it, in case this deal isn't offered again. So excited!!!!

PS.... We had to hold for about 45 min.

We almost booked a July double-dip cruise yesterday, but thank goodness we waited!

We just booked a 4B, Deck 8 for June 16 for $2300!!!

I'm so excited because we had to cancel our Spring Break cruise due to school commitments, but this more than makes up for it!

Finally got off the phone at 10:45.
We (Dsis and Us) are DVC members currently booked on the June 30 Fantasy. We each have booked a Cat 08 Gty that we booked back in October of 2010.

First call was my Dsis to an agent to ask the question while I had an Email out to our TA forwarding the DVC email. TA got the email and called DCL and got in the que with us. My sister got to an agent first. The agent said Aboslutely we could simply apply our DVC CASH to our existing reservation. We would lose the onboard booking discount and OBC but we could apply the discount and save the money. We would keep the same category we had 08B GTY. I was like well no upgrade to a Verandah but I could save some money. OF COURSE they said our TA had to do the change! So Dsis had to get off the phone with that agent.

My TA gets an agent 10 minutes later. (She was on hold for 50 minutes, Kudos to her!) She gets the agent who says NO we cannot apply the discount. Would have to cancel and rebook causing us to have a penalty and lose all On board credits (both with DCL and our Agent since we are cancelling and making a new reservation). With all penalties we would basically wash but would get a Verandah room.

My TA calls me and tells me she didn't change anything because she could not get us a better deal but if we wanted to cancel she wants us to be happy with the choice we make. My Dsis and I are furious that Disney had two different answers. MY TA says she will call in the Am and give it another try.

We call at 9:57 pm and get in the dang que again. Wait for another 20 minutes and get the most wonderful agent Tabitha! I tell her we got two different answers and if she can help us I will call my TA right now and conference her in! She put me on hold came back and said "get your girl on the phone!" I call my Blessed TA at 10:45 PM and she is thrilled that I got a good agent.

Agent applies the discount no problem, Books us in a CAT 4C!!! Connecting rooms to my Dsis. I get a Credit of 952.00 (2A2C) and Dsis gets 715.00 (2A1C). I can't believe we got almost a $1000 back and we got a Cat 4 room! We did lose the $200 onboard credit but I'll take the $800 net back!

CALL TOMORROW any DVC members if you have a June booking. Do not take no for an answer! Good luck everyone.

The best part is I don't have to keep checking my Ressie every day to see if we have a room!

DS, Cmbar, is right. Don't give up. This is a great deal for DVC members and I am thankful that DCL did not shut out those of us who were loyal enough to book early and onboard. We had paid extra on our paid full date to get the GTY status for a category 8B and up hoping we might get an upgrade. It would have been a ROYAL shame to have DCL give those rooms away to DVC member new bookings only.

DCL and DVC in tandem to save loyal members $$$....would love to see more of this synergy happening.

BTW, love my DVC membership as well!!

Really what cruise lines could you get 2- 7 nights to the Caribbean in June for less than $4600 for a family of 4 (two teens) in a verandah?

I must be used to Disney prices. We just booked this special and this price would only get us an inside room on a 7 night Caribbean on Royal Caribbean leaving from Port Canaveral. I don't see how you can get two 7 day cruises for that price.

You may want to double check if you really would like to go. This is better than first day pricing and even if we had booked this cabin originally back in October 2010 it would have cost me 6500.00 (we checked recently because we had our 2010 prices locked in). So this is really discounted even from earlier prices.

It's a very generous discount. We are doing an Eastern Med cruise on Celebrity in June but if they offer a similar discount for the July cruises, I would probably book.

It's available for any Fantasy cruise departing in June. We looked at June 9, 16, and 23, and each cruise still had a lot of verandahs available. The best thing is you can book any verandah that is available for the same price.
