Disney Cruise Discount on Fantasy for DVC members

How can they sell the VGT category if there are no other rooms available? Do they hold back rooms for this, or are they selling the category knowing that some people will cancel?

I am no expert and don't know all the ins and outs, but I know that anyone that booked the DVC deal cannot cancel because they are not allowing any cancellations or transfers. As far as people that had just booked their cabins without the deal, I don't know what the cutoff date is or was for cancelling, but I think we are in the penalty period at this point.

I am wondering about this too.. how is this offer going to help DCL to sell more rooms ?
I am happy for those that can switch their bookings without penalty and I would have done the same if I had a booking on this cruise. Not complaining about that but it just doesn't make any sense from the business point of view.

Exactly. It makes little sense. So little in fact that I immediately dismissed the email I got assuming it didn't apply to me. Thank goodness I read Disboard while I eat lunch. because...

I don't think that is right. Earlier today I booked a 4C for June 30, and I just went and looked at the DCL site and there are no verandah categories left at all except the VGT cabins. Last night and this morning there were about 8 different categories available for that sailing, and right now the website shows nothing. That makes me think they have sold them all for this sailing except the VGT fares.

Wow, gone in less than 24 hours.

Holy crap! I just made it in under the wire. I also got a 4C for June 30 (I was already on that cruise, but in a 8-something Oceanview).
I'm so elated. I checked online and the website shows my new room and still has all my excursions and reservations booked. Yay!

With all the DVC people jumping to higher categories, I'm assuming Disney will be offering discounted Oceanview and Inside rooms next. Maybe to the general public? I don't know how many DVC people were booked and moved, but it's got to be the majority right? Those who could best take advantage of booking in June are the ones already booked right?

So the special can only be booked with TA and not online? i tried promo code and it says its too long :confused3

I don't even know why I am trying! I already have everything booked for Universal/WDW trip and I think it would be too much hassle to rebook flights... so sad!!!!!

What DCL has done is moved existing guests to the verandah rooms that were apparently not selling well enough. Now they have the ocean view rooms open that have a lower cost than the verandahs did. People who don't have DVC and don't know about the DIS will not know about the great deal. They will just see that there are now rooms open on a cruise they may have wanted to book, but the verandah rooms showing available were above their acceptable cost amount. They will be happy.

Booked a 4D (which was all that was left in category 4) today for June 30th sailing for myself, DH and my dad. Can't wait so excited :cool1:

Just saved $1,445 on our 4c cabin (4people). I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed us to get the discounted rate on an existing reservation. :cool1:
Unfortunately though we could only get the discounted rate for the cabin that we are staying in (we have a total of 3).

I almost didn't even open my e-mail and just by chance read it. We got a 4A and for 3 of us with insurance (what a time to make sure you add it!) was $3700 for the June 16th cruise. We had just planned on going to WDW but now :cool1::cool1: Got to love DVC, happy happy days. :wizard:

We are seriously considering this. Right now we are scheduled for WDW from June 23- July 8. Considering taking a cruise the first week instead. Just called and its only $4500 for 4!

We did two cruises on the Dream last year and had no plans to cruise this year...until 5:40 yesterday when we saw that e-mail! It was such a great price that we are letting our girls (16 and 18) bring a friend along! It will be our first time on the Fantasy and our 9th cruise! Thank you Disney for thinking of your vacation club members! We are looking forward to sailing June 9!

I never even actually got an email. I just noticed it on the member site...

If I am reading the prices mentioned here, it appears they are charging the rate times the number of people in the cabin regardless of age. Is that correct? Or are kids being charged at a reduced rate cared to the adult rate?

Thanks

I can't believe I just did this, but it was too good a deal to pass up. Booked what will be my third DCL cruise in the next 10 months for June 23rd. DH and DD are out of town, so I decided to take DS15! We got a category 4A for roughly $2300 for the two of us. I looked on the DCL website and the same category on our date is going for $7692 for two people. How am I supposed to pass up that, I ask you? I also managed to book three nights in a DVC studio at AKL and get decent SWA flight prices. I'm a little in shock right now :)

Used Dreams to book. Not sure of the amount of the OBC but anything is a bonus right now! Hey, I think I'll get a basket, too :)

I'm so jealous that you booked through DU! (I forgot about the nice gift basket!) I was afraid that the cruise we wanted would sell out so I just booked directly through DCL. We did manage to get a 1B Club Level at AKL the night before, though. :woohoo:

That's amazing! I looked for that but you must have beat me to the punch. We were able to get three nights in a studio Savanna at Jamba, so we'll wave to you :) I'm on the WL for club level if anything opens up, but I suspect that's about as likely as hitting the lotto!

It looks that way but my son is 12 so I don't know if that made any difference. But the e-mail does say just "per person"
Hope that answers your question,
Sue

We've never received a basket from DU, just the OBC. Are there different requirements to receive a basket as well?

I booked last night, my 12 and 14 year olds were charged the adult price, my two year old was half price. Hope that helps!
