Disney Cruise Brides!!! Part Deux!!

These are my thoughts exactly. ^^^
We've been to CC a few times and watched weddings .. Although they're beautiful, the background shots of people and the noise put me off. I'm not one for being centre of attention either, so having all eyes on me is not something I relish.

If you have a good photographer, especially one that knows the island, you'll do great I'm sure, but doing what Melissa is doing above, seems a perfect solution to me (and it's cheaper!)

116 days until our wedding cruise and just 19 days until we're on the Magic for pre-wedding checks!!

Joa

Congrats on only being 116 days out you must be getting so excited now! :dance3: Have you started a PJ at all? Also you must do a little mini TR on this board about the new magic I am dying to hear how it is!

Melissa

Congrats on your wedding! Also awesome that another Cali bride is getting married on a Disney Cruise :goodvibes in my Opinion I am not a huge fan of the Castway Cay weddings purely for the privacy! I had orginally been scheduled on Castway Cay but like your self I watched videos and it seemed like everyone was watching you and its right next to the family beach and some pictures I have seen have background people in them which I am not a fan of but i think Castway is purely a prefence choice you will still get amazing shoots just your photographer will have to be more crafty to avoid the people, what I am doing is married on the boat and then on the Castway Cay day right when we dock we will take pictures for an hour in full wedding ger and then we still have the whole day to enjoy Castway (which is the best port!) you can look at my PJ the link is in my signature I posted some pros and cons about it hope you start a PJ soon would love to follow along its a great way to get ideas :thumbsup2

Melissa

Thanks, Melissa! I am very excited to be planning with brides as creative as you. I love your Be Our Guest photos. I just started a PJ, but I need to post more in the threads so I can post photos (or the link to the PJ!).

Thanks, Joa! I agree with you and Melissa and think I'll take a research cruise and check out the different venues. I have enjoyed your posts and will be sure to check out your Planning Journal.

Has anyone booked a suite for their wedding cruise? I'm torn on this because while I feel like we will need the extra space for getting ready and all the extra stuff we are bringing, I am hesitant because I worry we won't get good use of the amenities due being so busy. Thoughts?

I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you'll be too busy! I'd book something larger than an inside stateroom but not a suite unless you're going on a longer cruise.

I agree to spend so much extra money on a suite you won't be in that often probably is not the best idea, I would just get a verandah room or oceanview family room and that will open up a lot of space for not that much more thats what we are doing good luck in deciding :)

Currently, we have a wedding date reserved for Castaway Cay, primarily so that our guests could enjoy excursions of their choice in Nassau. We found so many beautiful pictures of weddings on the island (especially Freckledginger's :)). Then we found videos posted of weddings both on the island and on board. The videos made me wonder about the setting (loud shrieks from children swimming, etc.). I was wondering what other brides/cruisers thought about the benefit of privacy afforded by the onboard venues versus the itinerary freedom offered through marrying on Castaway Cay.

Hi Ashley! We did a wedding on Castaway. We are, er, frequent DCL cruisers so we knew where the ceremony was and how un-private it could be. However, I was 100% not getting married on the ship... it was CC or nothing. On the day I didn't notice any of the background noise or the people who were watching - we were told about them later and we had no clue! If you have pictures on the island anyway on the beach - there will probably be people in your shots! It's something you can't really avoid. Our photographers did a great job of avoiding people. :) I found that I was more the center of attention walking around the ship in my dress than on the island when everyone wanted to enjoy CC!

If you want to look at some of our photos to see what the background looks like feel free to PM me and I will send you the link. :)

We attempted to pm you but it keeps timing out

Can you please send us the link?
We are getting married on CC...same thing 100% not going to do it on the ship

Thanks

Thanks for all your thoughts re: whether to get a suite or not. Still not quite decided! Buuuuut it looks like we will have to make that decision soon because it autumn 2015 dates are being released next week! Hooray! Who else has been *patiently* waiting? We are hoping for something good in November 2015 :)

We booked the Walt Disney Suite on the Magic. It was great to have the extra space to get ready in but we didn't really need it, or the suite benefits. If you are on the newer ships, I would recommend a Cat 8 or Cat 4 (not 4E), as the rooms are larger. On the classic ships, only the Cat 4s have the extra space.

Congratulations too all of you brides, and for making the decision to be married on a Disney Cruise. DH and I got married last June on the Wonder in the Mediterranean. We are 62 years young, and hadn't seen each other in 50 years, met again and fell in love. We had this cruise planned, but not the wedding. Fortunately no one else was getting married on the Med cruise (which was in one month from the call) and we arranged everything. It was the most wonderful day of my life! Second marriage, and more magical than ever imagined. We got married on deck 7 in the private area, which I think is now gone with the remodeling. All of the staff was so nice and so helpful. The rest of the cruisers made us feel like we were stars. Our photographer was a Disney photographer, but not one of the ones that takes the photos on the ship with characters. He took us all over the ship taking pictures which is why everyone knew us. It was a sea day. The dinner in Palo was just wonderful. All of our meals had the table decorated with flowers and more, we had a private table for 2 in the dining room. Of course we were chosen as the newly weds in the Match Your Mate game. Our photos are everywhere in our home. They are beautiful when you consider the venue. Moving ship, direct sun, sea with sunlight reflecting off it. We met some people on our cruise on facebook and they watched from the upper deck. It was wonderful. The pianist, the flowers, the cake, the gifts...it was perfect! I was fortunate to find an appropriate dress for someone my age, short sleeves, tea length, ivory with beading in one month! It was like it was just meant to be. My DH was my childhood sweetheart. I found all kinds of special things on Etsy. Had champagne glass charms made with our names, a handkerchief for him to carry that was embroidered with a message from me, special shirts (soul and mate with Mickey and Minnie on them), special magnets for our door...and people came by and decorated our door as a surprise! My wedding gift to my DH was from Etsy, a book with the cover the same color as the Mediterranean, and the pages were folded (not cute) so that when it was standing up it said, "Forever"...so beautiful! So many little things to make our day special. Enjoy your journeys as you plan your destination wedding. Disney does it the best for sure! (This was my 8th DCL trip). Memories. And about 8 months later we were on a cruise on the Dream and the Assistant Cruise Director who performed the ceremony was on the ship and sent us a lovely note and a bottle of champagne!

Hi Everyone :wave2:

Dropping in to say Hi now that our not so patient wait is almost over with DCL announcing itineraries tomorrow!! I can't wait to see what the new journeys & dates are going to be! we are hoping for a Hawaii or maybe a MR but whatever they come out with we will be choosing one and then finally can start planning our VR :yay:

So did anyone book one of the new itineraries? We booked the MR on 4th October and plan to fly from UK to New York to visit a friend, then onto Nashville to visit another friend (2 nights in each), then a few nights at Disney Cal before driving down to SD to board for 5 nights cruise. It'll be a flight straight back home after the cruise and using our Virgin Miles to hopefully upgrade to upper class .. Have never done it before and will never be able to do it again, so hope we can!

Wedding cruise is now 105 days away (WBTA) and need to write vows and choose music .. I just found out about Spotify though so that'll help with the music .. Why didn't I know about this before?!!! Anyone care to write our vows for us?!!

Huge congrats on your wedding .. We are 42 and 45 ourselves so no spring chickens! Both been married before, but we've been an item for 13 years so we thought it was about time we made it official!
You wrote the Wonder, but obviously you know it was the Magic you were on .. Secret deck 7 was the best, we would always sunbathe there. We were on the Med last summer too, but didn't see any weddings so you must have been on a different cruise unfortunately.

We are also marrying on the Magic but we're going for Keys as my eyes stream in bright sunlight and I can't really wear sunnies during the ceremony!!

If you have time, I'm sure we'd all love to see some photos from your wedding!!

Greetings from Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings!

Oh my goodness...you are right, it was the Magic! Are you on facebook? All of my pictures are there. If not I have them on another site.
Thanks for your nice message. We were on the Med cruise on June 1. From Barcelona. I still can't believe it has been almost a year since we were married. Seems like yesterday! We were both married previously, only my husband remained a bachelor for 29 years until I came back into his life...no dates, no nothing, except providing for his 2 children. He is a gem!
