Did any of you put together a newsletter to include with your save the dates, invites, and/or welcome bages? I would like to provide information on current prices, what to expect, our plans, etc., but am having a tough time finding a wedding template to use. Please help :confused3

Does anyone know if the DCL photographer will let you do " Trash the dress " pictures. ex. llike pictures in the pool. ???

I'm only 21 days away from the cruise and I want to knoe all my options ( how I'm stuck with the DCL photographer) ...

I hope you ladies are haivng a great day....

I'm right there with you- I too want Trash the Dress photos and am stuck with Disney's photographer. Congrats on your upcoming wedding- you're so close!! :goodvibes Please let me know what you find out!

All the cake pics I've found are basically the same (white w/ swoopy things on them). I was wondering (since we havent booked our cruise therefor havent spoken w/ DFTW crew) is it possible to get a smooth icing cake (buttercream not fondant) and have them add ribbon I BUY to it in place of the swoopy looking things?....

I got a different cake, but it wasn't until I got on board and spoke with the coordinator who spoke with the baker that I learned I could get what I wanted. my DFTW contact refused to even discuss any changes at all to the cake. you got 2 choices, modern or contemorpry in square or round...no color, no floral, no nothing. if you are ok with the chance that you may not get what you want, then buy your ribbon and hope the chef can do it on board. I also provided my own floral for the cake and basically told them to not do anything, just ice it! I couldn't stand their cake choices!

I did a newsletter to go with my STD. I think i ended up doing 3 or 4 of them over the course of my planning. I did them in Publisher....they were about 4 pages each. :rotfl:

I am sure they will take any pictures you ask them to. Like I said I set up all of my shots and told the photographer to take them. He listened well and did anything I suggested. It was just a pain and the pictures were so "ho hum".

As for the cake, I was about to get color on mine before they changed the rules. I am sure they can do just plain for you. On board they go above and beyond making you happy. I am sure if when you meet with your planner on board you give them ribon they will make it work.

I sent out a packet of info, not really a newsletter, just a flyer. I was the Travel Agent who handled all of my own bookings so that helped. I included a "not just for Kids" letter, Passport info and application, Price guide and an intro letter, along with the Travel Agency Cruise booklet.

I did Save The Date passports and put as much info as I could in there. I even "plagiarised" Goldeelox9's Not just for kids in it (I changed some stuff to reflect the Dream though). Lisa... I hope you don't mind, but imitation IS the best form of flattery :goodvibes
Here is a link of the Save The Date from my PJ:

I don't mind at all....if you would have emailed me I would have sent you the word documents. LOL I put it all out there because when I was planning there was NOTHING!!!! Nothing at all to go by. I only knew of like 2 DCL brides!

Hello everyone!! I have a question about florida marriage licenses. I'm from PA so I need to get my marriage license online but it's $195. I went on the website that I got with my wedding packet. Did anybody else find another website that is cheaper or is this the norm for online marriage licenses?

Yes. You can get your license by mail for just the state cost of $98 by contacting the Brevard County Clerk. The service listed in your paperwork tacks on $100 to do I don't even know what, since you still have to get their paperwork notarized just as you would if you did it yourself thru Brevard County. :confused3

words cannot express how happy i am to find this thread just for DCL brides! i had soo many questions answered and got to see such great pictures and hear about everyone's experiences good & bad about their weddings or VR.

My name is Heather & My Fiance & I are getting married on the Disney Dream August 26, 2011. (sail date 08/25 - 08/28) We decided to do the on board ceremony because I really would like to have the full day to enjoy CC. Nausea i can definitely skip out on & being that the Disney dream layout for on board ceremonies supposedly should allow a larger group to attend it seems perfect. Shanda is my wedding coordinator (she is willing to jump over the moon for ya- every brides dream come true haha) has me down for 30 guest so far.

i would love to share my proposal story (which happened to take place @ the best place in the world "WDW:lovestruc" so im thinking about making a PJ of my whole experience from getting engaged, the whole planning proccess, & then the actual wedding!

im really looking forward to sharing this journey with you guys! feels good knowing your not in it alone or going into this blind! :upsidedow

thanks!!

Congrats & welcome!! I too am getting married on the dream next year, but not until October 28th. I look forward to sharing ideas. So far the former DCL brides have been very helpful answering questions that have come up

Hi girls,

Just though I would drop in and say Hi and have a look at all the new DCL bride’s plans :) everything looks fantastic :thumbsup2

We are just starting to finally get on top of everything and now that we have most of our photos back (still waiting on our MK shoot album but that’s another story) I was thinking of doing a trip report as I never started a planning Journal.

I saw Lisa’s comment and just wanted to add my 2 cents as this was our experience too
My one piece of advise to ANY DCL bride is bring your own photographer. We had the ship's and they sucked! I had to set up all of the poses and instruct him on how to do it.

Our onboard photographer was hopeless as well, my one real regret is that I didn’t prepare for this a little better. We learnt a lot about the onboard photo situation after the wedding as we ended up officially complaining both onboard & back on land as it was not just the photography, but also the service & the manager that were appalling.

But for all those who can’t manage an external photographer and have to work with the ship’s a few little things (in our case especially) could make all the difference.

1) Go through the TR of a few past brides and copy/paste into a document examples of all the photos you would like to have (ceremony, reception, around the ship etc). Give this to your photographer & planner when you first get on the ship – I was completely unprepared for how much direction the photographer would need, so a lot of the photos I wanted we missed out on as I couldn’t remember on the spot.

2) Any photos that you especially want (eg bride with mother, decorations etc) list all these down in a checklist so he/she can just tick them off on the day (also give a copy to your coordinator) as the 2 hrs goes so quickly and you want to be able to have fun and not worry.

3) As soon as you get on the ship go to shutters and introduce yourself, find out who will be your photographer and ask them to let you know their schedule of where/when they will be shooting on the ship prior to the wedding. Then go line up and have them take your picture a few times, it doesn’t matter if it’s a character or backdrop location, but it will allow you to see what kind of pictures they take & also both of you will get to know each other a bit. I really wish we had known who our photographer was before hand as we very quickly picked out one guy as completely useless after he had taken our photo around the ship a few times (thankfully he didn’t shoot the wedding) and when we would see him at a spot or with a character we wanted a photo with, we wouldn’t even bother lining up till the photographer changed as we knew the photo would be dreadful.

4) If you have anyone coming with you ask them to bring a camera and snap away as you can’t have too many photos.

5) We also befriended people on our cruise (through the cruise meet thread) and they stood and watched over the balcony above deck 7 & we got some great shots from them too.

Oh no...another bad experience with the photographer. I'm sorry to hear this. Why can't Disney make sure Shutters has an experienced photographer on board when they know there is a wedding or vow renewal happening on board :confused3

Our budget is soo tight right now that I do not think hiring a photographer to bring along is possible? Thank goodness that my MOH loves taking pictures so I will have her follow and hopefully get some great shots!

I am going to take a lot of examples with me..thanks for the suggestions!!!

I hate to see the posts about bad experiences with the photographers on board the ship. I was hoping this was something I would not have to worry about, but I am VERY worried about it. I do appreciate all of the tips everyone is sharing. I plan to make a list of specific shots that I would like to have also. Once we are on board, my first stop will be Shutters to meet our photographer!

Why can't Disney make sure Shutters has an experienced photographer on board when they know there is a wedding or vow renewal happening on board :confused3

This was my question as well too our coordinator & the cruise director as my simple explanation to them was this is just not Disney, the standard & the service are just not good enough, they are not Disney!

We were told that shutters staff are not actually “Disney Staff” they (and I think the laundry staff) are the only non Disney staff on the ship. When I heard that our experience made a whole lot more sense to me and I must admit I would have approached the whole situation differently had I know that in advance (hence why I am passing it along).

As the minute you step on board the staff cannot do enough to help you (even the ones you don’t see), seriously I could not believe the lengths they would go too, so each any every guest was made to feel special & have a wonderful trip. Their primary reason for being on the ship is for the guest but as you can imagine an outside vendor has other priorities and we were told that they didn’t “answer” to anyone onboard which is why we were told to follow up on land.

Don’t get me wrong, I do not mean to scare anyone, instead quite the opposite, as I think if you are prepared, organised (with a list of what you want & lots of examples) and get these people onside early enough you will do 1000% better than if you don’t. The other main thing to remember is they are essentially portrait photographers not wedding photographers so the more examples you can give them of what you want the better

thanks for the tips! i would have to say that i am nervous about the cruise photographers. :sad2: every bride knows that photography for our wedding makes the top 3 most important things part of a wedding. I've seen the prices for using their photographers and its not anything cheap for what they give you. you would expect Disney to make sure that the photography is phenomenal :confused3

well im hoping with the new Disney dream MAYBE there will be some changes for the best :thumbsup2 i hope especially for the wedding portions on the ship that they take every complaint and really work on making the changes necessary to make things better.

are there any Disney dream brides for 2011?
