Hi Everyone! We have't booked our wedding yet but are setting sail on the dream 9/11/11. As soon as they are available we will be booking. This site has been wonderful and I'm sure I'm going to have many questions for you all.

Did you ever go to a restaurant and afterwards think...Wow, I can't believe I ate the whole thing! That's how I feel right now! I read the thread from Page 1. I looked at every picture and read every post. I feel like I know many of you personally...even though I've never talked to any of you.

I've been in the hotel industry for over 15 years as a General Manager of many Full Service, properties. If I ever found out my sales people put a Bride through what alot of the ladies on this thread have been thru...suffice to say, they wouldn't be working for me very long. There's just no excuse for not following up within a reasonable amount of time. I understand programs change over time, but at least put it in writing and send it out to everyone...really with e-mail nowadays, you can blast a new policy or pictures out to everyone very quickly.

It's at least comforting to know that the people on board tried to make the best of what was promised happen and looks like they do a pretty good job, as most of you had very few complaints about the actual wedding day and some absolutely raved about DCL Weddings.

What I learned about all this is:
1./Stay on top of your plans and you planner-keep everything in writing and take it with you
2./Remember there is no such thing as a perfect wedding day---though it might be pretty close, guaranteed something will happen...if at the end of day you think you had a perfect day...look at the hem of your gown...your new hubby was probably stepping on it all day and now it is dirty or ripped...
3./And lastly remember, now matter how bad the pre-cruise wedding planning is, you are going on a Disney Cruise. While they might screw something up (they're human)...rarely do they screw everything up! Relax and enjoy the cruise and the day itself with friends and family.

Oh and don't forget to toast the ladies of the DCL Cruise thread for all their advice and saccrafices with the first fruity colored drink you can get your hands on!

Thanks ladies. Looks like you'll see me on here more often as we begin our preparations to get married on the Dream in 2011. Guess I'll end up being a guinea pig since I'm sure they'll make lots of changes to weddings on the Dream! Send me some pixie dust, hope it's not as bumpy of a ride as our Dec 17th Wonder Cruise was!

Our daughter got married on the Wonder November 2009. They took a photographer with them Jennifer Werneth she took AMAZING photos. I will see if I can get one to post in here I can't remember what I have on here.

We are planning on getting married on the Oct 2 2011 Dream cruise. I have so many questions I have no idea where to start. I have read the entire thread.

I have figured out that only 3 weddings/vr are allowed per cruise, so I will be booking as soon as I can.

I believe I have to get my own license. Is this correct?
What day to the on board weddings typically take place. We want to use Deck 7. It will most likely be us and our 3 kids. We are not expecting a big crowd to accompany us.

I know we will be officially married before the cruise, who will witness this. We will not tell our kids this as we want them to think the wedding on board is the REAL THING, plus they will not be of age. They will be 14, 12, and 8.

And does this sound strange, if our families are not able to go with us, my DS14 giving me away, his DS12 standing up with him and my DD8 being flower girl?

Obviously that will change if our families can accompany us, but if not, that is what we want to do.

We sailed on a 4 night Wonder Cruise where our Daughter was married. They were married onboard the ship before it sailed on Sunday...there were 15 of us total. They allowed everyone to attend the "Civil" Ceremony before we sailed. The actual Wedding took place on Deck 7 while we were in Port in Nassau on Monday.

I have a link in an above post of mine of some of her Pictures from the Wedding, they hired a Photographer to come along for their Photos. I know that Disney will supply a photographer from Shutters but I cannot remember the cost of that.

I have tons more pictures if you would like to see others, the civil ceremony was held in from of the huge mural of Walt Disney right outside the theater, and I have pics of that someplace as well. Have fun planning!!!!!

I too am planning to marry on the Dream in 2011. On the Dream they are only going to allow 2 weddings or vow renewals to take place per cruise. One can be on Castaway Cay and one on-board-I'm not a 100% if it will be on Deck 7 (as it is on the Wonder and Magic).

You can only book the wedding once you have a cruise confirmation number and they will only add on the wedding package a year in advance (sometimes before they allowed up to 18 months to be "penciled in" but they are stopping that with Dream bookings-allegedly!)

Disney will Provide a Witness. We did not want anyone to know about us getting married ahead of time. We wanted the beach wedding to be the REAL wedding and it is the day we celebrate our anniversary! We did in the end have my sister and My DH's BFF be our witnesses...But we still didn't tell anyone else. It isn't as special if the whole group is standing there watching you do it all twice, you know!

Has anyone ever heard of a bride not being able to get her date once she had booked her cruise? It makes me nervous that the wedding can only be booked a year in advance after you've booked your cruise. What do you do if you book and then they say some other bride beat you to the punch!! ?!?@!

The cruise should be refundable that far in advance. They can apply the money to a differant cruise booking. You may not get the deal you had gotten. That would be a bummer!

When you book your wedding, what you do is you talk to the DFTW Coordinator and tell them what date you would like/when/where and what they do is 'pencil' you in and let you know if they have the spot available (which they will if it's more than a year in advance. Then, on the date a year before your desired wedding date, they call you to book it and then you give them your cruise booking info and they simultaneously book the wedding.

In October I had called DFTW and asked about booking a wedding on CC December 5th sailing 2010. So, the coordinator told me 'I will pencil you in, you need to book the cruise and I will hold your spot, then call you on December 5th 2009 to then add it to the cruise booking as an "add-on"...

I know I explained it twice, but I wanted to be clear because I was always confused about this in the beginning, but they work it out for you so you book simultaneously. Make sure to call DFTW first for availability to be penciled in and THEN book your cruise. Hope this helps!

Wear what you want....what makes you look beautiful....and what you won't mind getting sand on it! I have loved all the photos posted from CC VR and weddings and I have seen brides in everything from full fluffy gowns (goldielox) to short jump in the water ones.

I say get what makes you feel like a Bride. As Cheryl said I had a big fluffy gown. I wanted to be THE BRIDE and I was having Magic Kingdom Photos so I wanted princessy. I did however have my train removed since I didn't want to worry about a bustle or about dragging it in the sand. It worked out prefect and I still love my dress so much. It was layers of the sheer chiffon type fabric. I ahd heard about past brides beign hot and I didn't want to be hot or have an insanly heavy gown to carry through the airport and cruise terminal.

Oh one tip for any future brides....as soon as I got on the ship I took my dress to the Guest Services desk. They stored it for me and it showed up the day before the wedding steamed and ready to go in my cabin. It worked out good, I didn't have to drag my dress to lunch with me! LOL
