Help! I can't remember and I know I've been told... Is the final wedding payment due at the same time as the cruise final payment? 90 days? (I'm running out of time. Yikes!)

Thanks!!!!

I think the reception in Palo is for weddings only..I wish Mike would come back and post since he had a CC VR

From what I have read, the cake is done right after the VR..we changed our because we had the private room already reserved but that took some begging! The kids can not go to Palo (DD wasn't even allowed to look at the room)

He should be back soon! we both h VR on the ship on the repo cruise..his was CC and mine was in Sessions....we did not do Palo as I wanted my DD there...the VR was very nice..only issue was they played all of the wrong music...I mean completely wrong....nothing life shattering but disappointing...

The coordinator (Nicole - who was great!) held my flowers during the vows..our photographer (Marika - awsome awsome awsome!) took wonderful photos and put together a beautiful album.

if I can help..let me know!

The weather is going to blow right through and on Sunday, there will be blue skies everywhere!!!! Have a safe and Magical Journey, and we will wait with baited breath until you return with all the details. :wizard:

Cheryl

Thank you Cheryl. I am waiting to leave for the airport. I don't even want to see the weather, it's not raining here yet, so that's a good sign.

I think you are going to get a special cruise Patty!! Maybe a cruise to Bermuda!! That would be cool!!

I am just praying Ike goes to Cuba because it is scheduled to pass over my house on Tuesday!

Betsy,

I dont' care where we cruise to as long as I'm on a disney cruise!!! I'll be praying for all you in souther florida.

Well we're back, and still swimming under a sea of laundry, souvenirs, etc. We did the 15 night Panama Canal Repo, plus a few days at Disneyland before and 2 days at Universal after the cruise, so we had 10 suitcases maxed out for the 5 of us!

The vow renewal was really great. We were concerned that we wouldn't be able to make it to Castaway Cay, because of Gustav and Hannah, but we actually went between the storms and had smooth sailing.

We were told to meet in the atrium at 10:00 AM, and that they would get Linda & Hailey from the stateroom at 10:10. When we got there to meet with Nicole, the wedding coordinator (who was great), it was pouring on the island. She said we would wait until 10:30 and then decide how to proceed. At 10:30 it was still raining, but Nicole had been in touch with the bridge and said that it was the tail of the storm, and it looked like a good size break between it and the next one. We waited 15 more minutes, then decided to go for it. (I did find out that if we weren't able to have the ceremony on Castaway Cay, we would have been refunded the extra $1000 that it cost to have it on the island.)

By the time we got to the gangway, it stopped raining and the sky was starting to clear. It was like a wind tunnel getting off the ship! We made our way on the little golf carts to the far end of the family beach, near the Heads Up Bar, where they had the podium and chairs set up. It was a beautiful location, with the Magic as the perfect backdrop.

The sky cleared up beautifully and the sun came out. It was really hot, but at least there was a breeze. (OK, it was more like pre-hurricane gale force winds!) Our younger son tried to find a little shade as we waited.

Before long, the nicely decorated golf cart showed up, bringing Linda and Hailey.

Hailey walked down the "aisle" first, and then Linda followed.

Did I mention it was windy? Here's an action shot of Linda's veil in the air. It made it through most of the ceremony, but towards the end, Nicole stepped in without missing a beat and plucked it off before someone lost an eye!

DSC_1686.jpg

The ceremony itself was really nice. The minister seemed to have a little trouble reading as his pages were blowing. And I was afraid that he forgot our names at the end, but I guess he was going for dramatic pause. We weren't asked if we wanted to add anything, which was probably a good thing. I had some things in mind, but Linda said she wouldn't have been able to get through without crying if we did that.

After the ceremony, we went over to the pier by the bar for some pictures with our family and our guests.

DSC_1749.jpg

Then the kids and our guests went back to the ship, and we were taken to a few spots around the island for pictures of the two of us. We had asked ahead of time about having the kids in the pictures too, but we were told they really don't do that because there's not enough room in the cart for the 3 of them. Since the kids were having squinting issues because of the sun, it was OK anyway. If this is important to anybody, you may want to make it known well in advance and see if they can work with you on this.

Here are a few of our pictures:

We found out later that our guests had to wait for 30 minutes in the tender lobby, because they were inspecting the elevators and all four of them were unavailable. I don't blame them for not wanting to walk up from deck 1 to deck 10 in their nice dress clothes. Nicole and her assistant Vanessa were probably more mad than our guests were. (They're an easy-going group.)

Since it was a Castaway Cay ceremony and not a sea day, we were able to have our cake and champagne in Palo and have the kids there with us. We had the Fairy Tale Cuvee, which we love! {Just as an FYI, while onboard, they also introduced a new sparkling wine. It's called Magical, I think it's from the same winery (but not 100% sure), and it's a red sparkling wine. We had it with dinner a few nights and loved it.}

Because we were so sweaty and windblown, Linda stopped to wet down and slick back her hair, which explains the change in hairdo. A note to everyone, have someone bring along a brush and whatever else you need to freshen up.

Someone else aksed about having servers attend. We really developed a great friendship with our servers over the 2-week trip, so we asked Dwight and Alenka if they would be able to serve for our celebration. We then set it up through our coordinator and head server. The nice thing was that we had a Palo server doing the actual serving, so Dwight and Alenka were able to mingle with us (and they even got permission to toast with us!)

For our cake, we choose white cake with buttercream filling. The fondant was actually OK to eat, which surprised me. And the actual cake and filling were really delicious. This was one of the things we were most looking forward to. Linda has a severe allergy to any oat products. Even though we told the baker several times about it at our wedding, we found out 2 days before hand that they used a flour that contained oat flour in it, so she couldn't eat our wedding cake or groom's cake. So 14 years later, we finally got to feed each other some wedding cake, which we only faked at our original wedding.

We had our "first" dance. We danced to "Beautiful in My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison. And then we danced (for a little bit anyway) with the kids. We had to bring along a CD, so we put some other songs on it that they played as well.

After we finished, our guests took the kids and they all went to the beach. Linda and I went with the photographer to take pictures all around the ship. When we booked, we reserved a second hour of photography for $85, and I think it was well worth it. We had Jovan, who really knew what he was doing. Here are a few of those shots (by the way, did I mention it was windy?:) )

We ended up buying the CD with all 362 of our pictures. Here's a link to them if anyone is interested:

Mike, Wow, how did I miss this! Everything looks absolutely beautiful! Your bride looks so lovely and your children are adorable. I will definately be checking out all those pics when we get back from our VR on the Wonder (we leave in the am!!!!!)

Thanks girls, have had pixie dust already today! got upgraded to first class on the flight down (for FREE) and then we just got on to the first shuttle to the port (where there weren't any openings when we booked)!

Got to run, but I'll be back next week to catch up.

Help! I can't remember and I know I've been told... Is the final wedding payment due at the same time as the cruise final payment? 90 days? (I'm running out of time. Yikes!)

Thanks!!!!

sorry.. i just saw this! I think final payment is due at 75 days. Final payment is due at 105 days if you want to book your concierge services.

I made my final at 109 days so that I could book my excursions.

Mike - I love how your kids and your vest match the water at CC!! Good call!

Mike - was Marco the manager in Palo? He was one of our servers on the Magic in 2005.
When we got on the Wonder in July, he was the manager in Palo but he was getting ready to fly out to CA to manage the Magic on the Repo cruise
Love Marco..he remembered our large Dis group from 2005 and really helped me prep the Palo Room for the VR!

Yes, Marco was the manager. He was great helping us out with Linda's allergy issue at brunch, dinner, and tea.

MIKE!!!!!!! You are back! Everything looked sooo nice! Linda looks beautiful! I loved the vest color! I have a few questions:

  1. Did you pick the stlye of your cake?
  2. Did you buy only the CD, or did you get the big picture package including the CD?
  3. Did you tell them upfront what package of pictures you wanted?
  4. How long did they take pictures on Castaway Cay?
  5. Did you request any shots or just go with the flow?

Your pictures were wonderful and I am so glad that you told us f we do not have the ceromony on the island for weather issues we get the $1000 back!

Thanks for sharing!!!

HELP HELP!!

Ive got my vow renewal kit and am at a stopping point with some questions. Really need some input...

On the music part, how many songs am I supposed to put on here for the reception? Do I break it down by cake cutting, and ect. or do I just pic songs for the whole "reception toast"?

Oh and on the cake, what is the icing? Is it fondant or whipped? There is no choices for that on this list?

Thank you all so much in advance for your help. I'd be lost without all of you!!

i honestly don't remember the songs after the ceremony.. I know he was playing but I don't know for how long or what. We didn't do the cake or the toast on deck so we only had him play during the photos..i will have to wait for the video to see what happened!

Our cake was fondant with almond buttercream underneath..I am not a big icing person, so I didn't eat my fondant..i just tasted it

MIKE!!!!!!! You are back! Everything looked sooo nice! Linda looks beautiful! I loved the vest color! I have a few questions:

  1. Did you pick the stlye of your cake?

We picked white cake with vanilla buttercream filling. We just went with the style that they usually make; we didn't ask about changing the appearance at all.
  2. Did you buy only the CD, or did you get the big picture package including the CD?

We ended up doing the whole package. We wanted extra prints to give to our guests who live in other states while still on the ship. We also wanted prints for my parents and MIL who couldn't join us on the cruise.
  3. Did you tell them upfront what package of pictures you wanted?

When we booked the package, we only said that we were going to do the smallest one, but we requested the photographer for an extra hour to take pictures around the ship. We were able to upgrade to the big package when we were looking at the pictures on the laptop that night. And it was a long night, trying to go through all of the pictures and pick out what we wanted. that's another reason we got the CD, just in case we missed a good shot.
  4. How long did they take pictures on Castaway Cay?

I think it was about 45 minutes to an hour. They did a bunch with all of us on the beach and pier. Then the guests and kids went back and they took more shots of the 2 of us.

After the cake & champagne, we sent the kids to the beach and only the 2 of us did the pics on the ship for another 45 minnutes or so. Counting the ceremony and the cake/champagne reception, we had about 3 hours total photography.

  5. Did you request any shots or just go with the flow?

Pretty much we just went where he told us to go. I thought some of his ideas (like in front of the flower picture) were a little weird, but the shots came out nice, so I'm glad we trusted Jovan. The only one we requested was climbing up by the stacks, because we had seen someone else's pictures like that and loved it. One shot that i wanted to do and then completely forgot about was to get a picture of us wearing the life vests and trying to kiss. I saw a picture like that somewhere (not DCL) and it looked really cute.

We wanted to dance to "Beautiful in My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison, and then have everybody dance to "What a Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong. Since I had to make a CD for those, I threw some other songs on it too, but told them they could play whatever they wanted after that. I noticed when we came in that they had the CD playing while we mingled (It was already past those first 2 songs, so I'm not sure if they played them twice or not). Then when it was time for our "first" dance, they started it over for those 2 songs. After that, the pianist played songs on the piano.
Oh and on the cake, what is the icing? Is it fondant or whipped? There is no choices for that on this list?

The cake was covered in fondant. I generally like overly sweet things, and it was OK, but nothing to write home about. Our kids liked it! The cake and the buttercream filling were excellent. We had leftover cake, so we had them bring it to dinner that night. We were linked with a huge group of DISers for dinner, so we shared our cake with the tables around us. Remember, we couldn't take it off the boat (though I have heard stories of people smuggling some off in tupperware containers that they brought with them, we weren't willing to risk it.)

Thank you all for your responses and thanks Mike for pm'ing me. I loved all the photos! I know you two had a magical time!!!

I'm just going to list about 3 songs for the reception since I'm not sure how many to put.

I'm going to try and request them put a certain color of flowers on the cake, I will have to pursuade Cathy on that one.

I hope we don't look to out of place having a dance with it just being the two of us. I just think it would be magical, probably crazy to some. I just hope they dont mind standing their waiting on us to finish......

For color on the cake..we were told no by Cathy but then when we met with Nicole on board..we rec'd a yes! I would suggest you wait until you are on the ship...Nicole can get a lot done and she was great.

Mike and Linda looked awsome! I was sitting on the beach near-by and their ceremony was just beautiful!

I had no problem with color on the cake.

It never occurred to me to put color on until about 30 days before. I wrote Cathy and she emailed the pastry chef (i also asked to add almond flavor) and they did green trim no problem!

When you get your contract, I would write that on the cake part..because the ship gets a copy of what you sign!

CruisinMike-
Thanks for sharing your pictures. I could feel the happiness in your wife's smile. It made me happy just seeing that. :goodvibes Congratulations!

Morning Ladies!!

I woke up early this morning to work out!! Patty's such an inspiration, she looks great in that dress, and I figured if she can wake up O Dark Early to work out, than so can I! :thumbsup2

Yeah, but i'm gonna be in serious pain tomorrow! :lmao:

Mike - again the pics are wonderful!! Thanks for answering all the questions!! Your definately helping us out!!

Ok, so after the ceremony you said the kids and guests went to Palo while you and your wife took pics around CC. How long did that last?? What were the guests doing in Palo while they were waiting for you?
