Double dip is 2 Castaway stops..our 4 day was a DD and since we did a B2B, we were "Triple Dippers:"

Hi all-
I have to admit, I've been lurking. I have loved hearing about and following all your stories for your DCL VR (DisneyDumbNut, Cheryl, Patty, 29apr00 and more).

My story is similar to yours. I got married 9 years ago, but couldn't plan a DFTW because I really wanted a traditional chinese wedding. But of course we honeymooned WDW. At that time DCL only had the 4day and 3days, but we wanted to be in one place for the entire week, so we did just WDW then (mind you we knew we were going to do WDW for our honeymoon before we even got engaged). Anyway, then you all know how it goes, house, kids, kids are too small... And now they are finally both in school and it's coming upon our 10th anniversary.

We had to do a DCL cruise and a VR! We are going on the Nov 14, 09 double dip. So we're too early to officially reserve our date. But I've talked to Cathy already and she really is sweet.

I want to thank you, thank you for all sharing!!!

Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheryl

Mike!! Are you back??? How was the VR??? PICTURES!!!!!!

Hi All!

Sorry to bother your thread-is this specifically for DCL VRs? I'd like to do a VR in two years for our 5 year anniversary but at WDW-I'm not quite up for a cruise (too many things to go wrong that couldn't be fixed in the middle of an ocean!). Is this the place I should be to get info on VRs or is there something more specific about renewals at WDW?

TIA!!!

i think there are a few people on here who have had WDW VR's...They are much cheaper on DCL than WDW but I think they are basically the same things included

We are all just a bunch of happy people here that love to chat about our vow renewals on the DCL....but the same person starts you off, I believe...Cathy from Disney's Wedding people. But anything we can answer, just ask and we will do. Have fun

Welcome Newbies!!!

Question for anyone that might know......

Do we get to keep the knife servers that we cut the cake with? Or are they just to use.

Oh, and if its just hubby and I, who will hold my flowers during the ceremony? Will the coordinater be their to help us out??

Cant wait to hear back from you guys!!!

i think the coordinator would hold your flowers..i have seen that in other peoples flowers

you do not get to keep the knife set..but I understand DFTW will sell you a set for $50
(i was actually thinking of buying it today!!)

Maybe I will bring my own....hmmm. I found the same ones on Ebay today. That's a thought!!

Did you say that you didnt have your first dance? If I can talk my DH into it. I would like too. They will do that on the deck also right?

I'd like to add color to the cake too. I guess I will have to start bugging Cathy now. LOLOLOL

we didn't do a dance...but we didn't have our toast on deck

i don't think Cathy will take your cake order for about 5 months..she usually wants the pack back at the 120 day mark

I also didn't add color or the almond flavor to my cake until about 3 weeks before. I sent her an email in the beginning of July asking if I could have pale green accents and some almond flavoring added to the butter cream

You will get your confirmation package about 30days before you sail..that is when she starts REALLY working on your sailing

We had a dance, danced to Clint Black's Something that we do.....had to bring the cd.

Ok ladies, i get to start bothering Cathy in about 6 weeks to book!! Now i need to work on logistics.

I've really had my heart set on the CC ceremony. I know it's $1000 more and really, considering the shipboard one is on lt $1500, it's quite a bit more. But really, that's what we want.

So the timeline i've been seeing is the ceremony will be either 10 or 11am on CC. then we go back to Palo for cake and dance. But then it's time for lunch. It seems so odd to eat cake right before lunch. :confused3 Why don't they do it after lunch?? Would we be able to have them serve us lunch in Palo after the ceremony, THEN have the cake?? And are the kids allowed in Palo during that time?

And if we do decide to do Deck 7, then it's abuot 430 or 530 on Friday. Then we again have cake and dancing. (that's all right there on deck, right? That's a little better, because we have dinner late. But we also are supposed to have a dinner in Palo that evening. Well, i'm not about to leave my 18 guests to eat alone!! Besides, we have our children with us! So we will be forgoing the dinner at Palo i guess. :guilty: And i'm sure they will reserve the cake at dinner, right?

I think the reception in Palo is for weddings only..I wish Mike would come back and post since he had a CC VR

From what I have read, the cake is done right after the VR..we changed our because we had the private room already reserved but that took some begging! The kids can not go to Palo (DD wasn't even allowed to look at the room)

So then your DD wasn't there for the cake cutting??

I had to go stalk Mike's cruise thread to find info! :lmao: he just got back very early this morning, so i think we'll have to wait a bit to find out how it went. I couldn't find any sneak peaks.:guilty:

Here's my take on this from the research I've done:

And are the kids allowed in Palo during that time?

The no-kids policy is for the comfort of other diners when Palo is open during regular business hours. If you are having a private function there after hours, especially when you've paid all that money for a vow renewal, they are not going to tell you your kids can't come.

But we also are supposed to have a dinner in Palo that evening. Well, i'm not about to leave my 18 guests to eat alone!! Besides, we have our children with us! So we will be forgoing the dinner at Palo i guess.

You can have your free Palo dinner any night during your cruise - it doesn't have to be on the wedding night. In the DCL wedding info packet it even suggests that if you have kids you eat on your regular rotation on the wedding/VR night and have your Palo dinner another night. :goodvibes

So then your DD wasn't there for the cake cutting??

no..but she was ok with that
she got a huge piece wrapped for her and she was fine with that. I have a weird kid, she would rather go to the club with her friends than to sit with the adults

Did you have to pay extra for your private room at Palo??
