Has anyone done the Stoney Creek Disney patterns that weren't in a kit? I am trying to decide how big a piece of material to order. The one that I'm looking at is the Happiest Celebration on Earth pattern. It says the design is 12 1/2 by 15 with suggested frame size of 16 x 20. A lot of the material comes in 14 x 16 & I was afraid it wasn't big enough.

I've always heard that you should add 2 inches to each side of the project to ensure you have enough fabric. I always add 3 just to be safe.

So, with 2 inches additional fabric on each side of your project, you would need a piece of fabric that is at least 16 1/2 X 19.

I always visit www.123stitch.com and under the Free section you will find a stitch calculator. You just need to enter the stitch count and the type of fabric you are using...they will tell you how big a piece of fabric you need.

Thanks so much! I didn't know that they had a stitch calculator. I usually try to figure it out & end up with a lot of extra material. These designs are big so it's kinda hard to find the right size.

I believe in extra fabric is worth it because after I made a pattern being too chinsy, I couldn't frame it and it was a disappointment. Just a thought!
